  • I usually don't sleep for two days not at all and then i pass out for 24 hours for about 8 years now. Nightmares and shit, but lately don't have any nightmares. I'm up all night now about to go to work.

  • And very often I keep randomly waking up. One time in math we were doing this chart on how many hours we sleep. Abd when someone said 7:00 teacher was like wow. Then when it was my turn I was nervous cuz I didn't want to say 3! So I said 6 abd she starts ranting about how I need more sleep. Sigh...life

  • I usually fall asleep after 2:00 and in the summer it's great because I can sleep as long as I need to and I'm not going to a camp so it's good. (i'm 11) but during the week I have to get up at 6:45 for school it really sucks but what is odd is that I am so tired in the morning jut later it's like I slept for 10 hours so my body is accustom to it, kind of. I still get tired and headaches.

  • I get tired, go to bed, but its like I "hover" in this state where I ALMOST fall over that edge, into unconciousness. I have a sleep disorder, diagnosed by a neurologist. Its like I sleep with one eye open, I'm always concious of the time thats passing. This sleep disorder is a result of a PTSD. I take medicine to put me to sleep, and another medicine to keep me asleep, because if I dont, I have seizures as a result of lack of sleep. Any ideas?

  • I can't get to sleep before 3 even if I go to bed at 10 and i have to get up at 7:30. I am never tired except in the mornings and then when I get home I am not tired.

  • HI! Believe it or not, when I drink this juice it really helps me sleep better and get up easier the next day!

  • I get about 5 hours on work days, 8 to 9 on weekends. I think i don't want to go to sleep because that means when I wake up I have to go to work :-(

  • im still unsure if i have insomia. ive had trouble sleeping alot lately..i feel very tired but my eyes wont go to sleep..and at nite i wake up an go restroom, and cant go bac to sleep, and i end up awake until moring i take sleeping pills at nite but ushally it takes me 2 or 3 to actually sleep. still unsure if i have asleepinq problem?

  • This is my own treatment that I just want to share..

    1) I drink a tablet of Enervon-C every morning during breakfast. 2) I don't drink Sodas or caffeine

    3) I don't smoke & drink alcohol. 4) drink a warm glass milk every night...

  • warm glasses of milk are for those who don't have a sleeping disorder and tend to have a sleepless night every once in a grand while. It does not work for those of us with a chronic problem. a dozen plus doctors tell me the same thing but it never has nor ever will work for me.

    do you know "Fight club"? there is a doc who says that what you need is a natural sleep

    maybe you should endure your insomnia for a while, and then you will just fall asleep without any pills

  • does anyone feel like there oging to explode everyday if they dont sleep, I think really irational and have ocd times 10 when I dont sleep, ie if someone cuts me up in the car, I say I hope thaey crash and die, but if I was normal I would ingore it??? anyone get like this, bit mental??

  • I have a problem where I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. But the thing is, right after I'm done and leave the bathroom, I have to go within minutes or even within seconds after. When I go back in for a second time, I end up peeing like I its my first time going in the bathroom (I end up peeing a decent amount, not a little). There are also times when I end up going to the bathroom about 3-4 times within 30 minutes. Does this mean I have a problem with my bladder?

  • My doctor told be that if you have too much salt it retains water. So later on when the salt is out of your body it releases the water. I've had times I've had to get up several times within a short time. My problem is that I often resist getting up to go to the bathroom for a long time and it keeps me half awake.

  • Great info thanks. I also have sleep trouble. I have found 2 things that are helping me. I found this sleep memory foam body pillow that is shaped like your own body it is called Mumoocie, I didn't think it would help but have been so surprised. I have also tried EFT (emotional freedom technique) they both have been great for me. Hope this helps someone!

  • I have never been able to sleep at night..only in the day.This has created a whle lifestyle of being a night person.I am in the arts so i used to write ,paint,etc., but now I just putz around and think about how lost my days are.I'm a mom too so it hurts that I'mlike a marathon zombie with my daughter at some part of our days...I've tried everthing...I mean everthing....My oldest friend said I'm a night person and just accept it...so here i am....

  • I have had sleeping issues through the ages of 14 and (currently) 34. I have spells of insomnia twice a year, lasting from 2 to 6 weeks each, and varing in intensity. I have noticed a coraspondnce with the change of the seasons. Either as winter is on the verge of turning into spring of summer into fall. I belive when I have an intense spell of insomnia it is compounded with a life style change. Leaving the familure. It is - in an odd way - comforting to see others having severe insomnia issus.

  • wow, i am glad to see that someone else out there has the same seasonal insomnia! i am also like Toeln2194, in the fact that i sleep better during the day, rather than at night. on top of all that, i have the racing mind thing going on where i just lay there for hours thinking. even when i try not to. just went through a 2wk sleepless session, and ended up not eating which lead to an unintentional cleanse and weight loss. count that as a blessing! so doc, whats up with me?

  • What do mean 2 week sleeplessness? Surly you slept a little. I'm rethinking my seasonal stuff. In review I realized that the changes simply often concided with the spells. I belive I have a lot of anxities whenever I change life styles. I do this about 1 to 3 times a year. Christ - this is so far my longest spell. Almost 2 months of crappy sleep. I have'nt found my new obession yet. BTW I too find it easer too sleep in the day. Infact now days it's when I'm getting all my sleep.

    try trancendental meditation,it's a technique that trains the mind to let go,which just about covers about 90% of sleep disorders.

  • Eight hours. Normally I get around 7 and hours, depends on how tired I am.

  • I get around 3 hours sleep normally. My sleep pattern is backwards so I sleep better in the day.

    If I sleep more than 4/5 hours I feel tired and sad, but if I slee alittle I get more excitable and happy. :/

  • I get 12 hours of sleep when I don't have school the next day, from staying up till like 3:00 am than I get baggy eyes, and it looks like somone punched me, cause its all purple under my eyes xD

  • I can fall asleep ok, but my sleep is filled with nightmares and very vivid dreams-to the point that I wake up tired, like I have been working all night.

    I had a violent past, ex military and PTSD. I will kick or throw punches so hard in my sleep that I will strain a muscle.

  • Sometimes people have nightmare when they have Vitamin B1 deficiencies. I myself have a bottle and take 200 milligrams before I go to bed if I start to have nightmares. It gets rid of them for me. It must be B1 though and not B complex.

  • Magnesium? You never hear about it b/c Serum Mg almost always comes out normal. It is a poor measurement of Magnesium. Trasdermal Mg Chloride oil is more relaxing then Epsom Salts in a bath by a lge margin & the calm feeling stays in the body. Hard as it may be to believe Transdermal Mg, is almost as good as any prescription w/o the side effects. That sounds laughable until you try it. Powders & pills are not as efficient and might give you the runs.

  • Oh and to answer your question is if I were to just sleep naturally without having to wake up I would probably sleep between 71/2 and 10 hours of sleep. For a very long time I needed 10 hours of sleep and could get by with 8. I'm 29 now, and I think the number has moved to waking up after 9 hours and I can get by on about 7, maybe 6. But if I do that too much I will sleep more later.

  • I think it varies from person to person. The whole "8 hours minimum" is nonsense, a total myth. I've suffered from chronic insomnia for years and often find I'm able to function perfectly well on as little as 4 hours. On average I'd say I get between 3 and 5 hours.

  • It's different for everybody. Your body adapts to just about anything. Dean Karnazes, the man who finished 50 marathons in 50 days, calims to get only about 4-5 hours of sleep per night. I typically get around 6 during the week and 7 or 8 on weekends.

  • Typical recommendation is 7-8, but I'm sure I only get about 6 due to my poor lifestyle habits like wanting to stay up late to watch "late night" shows.

  • My Bio psychology professor claims that some studies suggest you can fully function off of 2 hours a sleep as long as you condition your body to it, and this is how he actually lives his life.

    Unfortunately, I never quite mastered this functioning on as little as 2 hours a night, and would end up literally falling asleep in his class.
