The thor deals splash damage to mutas clumped up tighly in a group. With the magic box, the thor's splash damage will only hit 1 muta at a time. psy has a tutorial video on how to do the magic box trick so check it out.

@fallenup19 when mutas are not moving, they form a loose formation. That formation does not take splash damage from Thor. Muta's form a tight formation when they reach their move point or when you attack command something either from an attack move or a focus fire.

Search youtube on how to perform it. Psy pretty much has marketed the technique even though he may not have invented it

Psy i recoment when you go mutas to constantly make queens whever you can. mass queen/muta/zergling allows you to heal your damaged to near dead mutas. this allows me to lose minimal amount of mutas. queens also allow you to shift builds to ultra/nydus to harras with a nydus and retreat and heal the damaged ultras.

Most likely. Just a guess, but it probably goes: 5 5 > spawn minions > tab to queen > use ability > 6 6 > spawn > tab > ability > repeat. That way he's remembering to create more larvae, and he's always using larvae.

Idra, whereas idra hotkeys ALL queens to 1 key and ALL hatches to 1 key. idk how idra injects tho, maybe he tabs thru all the hatches or V+clicks the minimap. . .anyway. i think he tabs thru just to select specific larvae for wichever hatch. IE. natural expansion needs drones, and main base can create army units. Either that or for overlord speed, but he can do it just as fast by pressing the hotkey for all hatches. JUST A GUESS

This could be used to explain magic box, document the build order, to see if the terran saw your lair, etc

Keeping your Mutalisk spread out in their natural spread formation to avoid splash damage. When you select Mutas, move them to a location inside their grouping, and they'll clump together. Move them to attack a unit, and they'll get into range, clump up together, and start attacking. Magic box keeps them from clumping up by moving past and using Hold Position, so one Thor attack hits only one Mutalisk instead of a Thor attacking once and hitting 20 Mutalisks.
