  • This is an earlier recording of Ramona by Gene Austin. So it could be from 1924. He made a different record in 1928 after the movie came out with another arrangement I have hear d it many times. The movie by the way, long considered lost, is found and is being restored at this time. A nitrate print was discovered in the Czech Archive in 2002. It took several years for funding to materialize. The project is is now underway.

  • It is one of the saddest melodies I can ever recall melancholy But I love it makes me think Of my dearest departed son and loving wife thank you for showing it here.

  • This song reminds me of my little cousin who was named Ramona who passed away at birth around 1926 when I was about a year old.

  • ah how many versions of this beautiful song , all great ,i guess is music but i like the lyrics

  • Why does this not sound like Gene Austin? I'm no expert on the singers of the era, but are you sure this is Gene Austin? A nice recording though.

  • @KURTEGER This is a re-recording from the '40's or '50's I believe. It is not the original from 1928.

  • Very nice rendition, but this recording could be done after 1924 because the song was presented in Dolores del Rio's movie in 1928.

  • Edmund, you are too kind. Thanks for uploading this one and sharing it with Gene Austin fans.
