is this phone easier to use with or with out nails I have it and i also have nails and its kinda complicated but i dont wanna cut my nails if its gonna be even harder to use...
@bloodykissesofakitty Seems to me it would be the same. I don't have any trouble with it using nails. I can't say for sure though because I had nails the whole time I used it.
i'm considering the samsung alias 2 right now. i used to have a motorola rizr in rose red. i want a good texting phone that's easy to type with. i like the layout on this the best, but i want to know more about the touch pad on the outside. i usually keep my phone on during class, and i would not want it to suddenly start playing music. any suggestions?
hey can you guys help me, i have verizon, i am completely stuck on what phone to get. reply to my comment. please help me. Please pick from the following: Motorola Rival, Samsung Intensity, Samsung Alias 2, LG EnV3, or Nokia Twist. Thanks :)
do you think i should get this or the lg versa i like to text but i want a touch screen phone. and i heard you have to call the Verizon people and tell them to ship the versa with the keyboard if you dont ask them they dont send you one. is this true?
instead of going into options to change to numbers or sybols, u can just press the button in the bottom left corner to change to symbols, and numbers.
actually no..im stil 15 and im gettin my first phone..i fell inlove with this one , but then i realised that there wasnt a SIM card slot..i dont live in the US, I live somewer esle where u NEED a SIM card..
No it doesn't have a slot for a SIM card because they are CDMA. No Verizon phones do unless they are Global phones. I can only guess why you are asking...Were you wanting to switch from another network to Verizon and wanted to use the SIM card to transfer your contacts?
Its a decent phone, don't misunderstand that when someone asks me which is better, the Alias 2 or the enV3, I'm going to say enV3 because it is. It has alot more features in the same range of phone. But the Alias 2 on its own is an okay phone.
i personally think the alias 2 is better because its a flip phone as the enV3 isnt. i gotta have a flip phone otherwise I'd be calling people from my pocket. The Env3, as far as I understand, doesnt have a hold button, so I would definitely be calling people from my pocket with that phone.
I change phones every few phones so I get enough time to get to know the pros and cons of a phone, and I use two or three at a time. Currently I am using the HTC Ozne, the Casio Exilim and the Blackberry Flip. Before that I had the Storm and the Alias 2. Before that was the Versa, and the Dare. I have a co-worker that test phones out as well. He's the Blackberry expert. He is currently using the Tour. I am anxious for the Storm 2 and the Omnia II to come out.
It has a 5.1 MP camera w flash, its military spec'd to be waterproof and shock proof, The cover spins to turn into a camera lookalike and its loaded with features. My guess is because of the camera and the task of waterproofing all those ports.
I stand corrected. It looks like some Alltel areas will be absorbed by AT&T but I will have to stand by my comment that they are only available to Verizon Wireless.
are the keys similar to the touch screen keys? i noticed when u were txtn it didnt look like u were really touchin the keys...im lookin at getting this or the original samsung alias. Besides the keys is there really a diff?
omgg omgg!! i wanntt thatt phoneee!!! myy friendd has the originial alias and i thought it was soo cool but this is a lot cooler!! omg!! that is awesome!!!! i want it!! i have the lg chocolate 2 it sucks.
thanx 4 all ur vidz but should i get the alias2, the trance or the chocolate 3. im 12,a talker, txter, and music listner and don't want much to do with VCast while listning to music.
ok. im sorry. shes pissing me off. with this phone you dont need to go that round about way to enter a symbol. when opened horizontaly, the bottom left hand button changes the keypad to 4 different options. i figured that out in the first 2 minutes with the phone. for real? if your going to post a video on here for possible buyers, lets actually figure out how it works...
this is a dumb review.... i am sorry, but all you fcus on is the e-ink keyboard and the messaging of the phone!!! that is nerve racking, please redo this reveiw and explain and rate how well the music feature is, how well the sound quality is, how the screen is..... thank you!
good review. i have a question though. i have an env2 now but i really want to get this phone. my contract isn't up until october, but i was wondering if i could extend my contract now for another 2 years, and get this phone now for the 2 year price
That's really a question for customer service, I do believe they have a program where you can upgrade early but I don't know if there is an additional fee. I'll get more details for you.
you will be able to upgrade at discounted price 20 months after your contract end date, so yes you will be eligible for upgrading at $30 with no additional fee right now.
o ok. how'd you convince them to do that? because i've tried asking them if i can get a new phone now and they've said no. plus my env2 has broken 4 times when it wasnt my fault and they still wont give me a new phone
no convincing done at all. all i did was log into verizon and upgraded my phone online. discounted price is automatically deducted to $30 so that's all you'll need to pay. your contract ends in october 2009?
yeah october 2009. but for some reason on my verizon account online it says i cant upgrade my phone until march 10, 2010. and i asked a verizon worker at a store near me and he said he cant figure out why it says that. but he said he'd be able to get me a new phone at the end of june which is 4 months before my contract is up. but he never gave me the option of upgrading now
I could not figure out how to do that on the Alias. And two people that still use the Alias had no idea what you were talking about. I've heard of a feature a while back called Speak 'n Text. I don't know if thats it but if you tell me how to do it, I'll see if the Alias 2 has the same feature. I also thoroughly checked the instruction manual and didn't see anything. Now I'm very curious about this!
like with my friends, you just go into a txt msg and you hit the left soft key so it brings up like wod, abc, ABC, 123, and symbals and the first option is sumthin where you just talk in to it and it'll write what you say, it's pretty accurate
Thanks so much for your question, you taught us something we didn't know!
I'm afraid the answer is no. I was able to find what you were talking about, its called Voice Mode. I do not see it on the Alias2 at all. I think it was replaced by a new type of message called voice message that comes across like a text message with sound attached. I know its not the same but they must have left that off because most phones now have this new voice message feature.
Yes you can, I made a video about voice mail and voice messages and I covered voice memos. It should be live sometime today on the Wireless Zone channel.
those buttons that 'don't do anything' are on all cellphones like when ur at the home screen, the bottom left says 'messages' and the bottom right says 'contacts' and those buttons which are directly underneath them select those options and those options may change depending on what menu/view you are in.. so yea, they do something.
u can still use those buttons holding the phone that way, she just happened to be at the ONLY screen that doesnt have the options above those buttons, i own this phone so i kno wut im talking about.
You are taking it way too literal and now that you have one, you are also taking it personal. Clearly, I own the phone too. And what I'm trying to get across is that the layout could have been carried out better. And its not only that screen, I have had it both landscape and portrait and there are buttons that have the triangle at the top at a point where there is no use for them. That could have been designed better by not having the triangles there when those keys are not functional.
im not taking it literal, nor personal. so dont talk like you know me. and i'm sorry that you're easily thrown off by two little triangles that u cant use in the menu screen.
There are alot more than two buttons that at any given time could have been put to better use. The layout of this keyboard is not good. For example, the Bluetooth icon is only available on a key is when opened in portrait. When opened in landscape there are 9 blank, still no Bluetooth. Shall I keep going? I am not thrown off, you don't seem to realize that my job is to review these phones good or bad. Clearly Samsung was so caught up in the cool E-Ink technology they missed many basic things.
well i have absolutely not problem using this phone on a day to day basis. and obviously this phones main goal is for texting. which it has no problem succeeding at.
i had one i droped it while it was shut it landed flat and the screen broke off
