@141forcerecon incorrect. Enlisted Marines who are SNCOs rate the White trousers. also, the silent drill team. I believe officers do immediately but I'm not 100 percent sure with them. The blood stripe is authorized to wear onve you become an NCO.

I joined because of family reasons, and because I feel obligated to give back to my country. You don't necessarily become a Marine for yourself, you also do it for your country, and for the greater good.

As a former Marine (who was kicked out under DADT) I still view my limited time in service as the best experience of my life; and earning the Title as my single greatest accomplishment. @CPLKNINE Semper Fi, my brother/sister. I had many good friends who were kicked out for being gay, including my senior drill instructor. They were the most squared away Marines I ever knew. I was discharged for medical reasons in '81 and am now "medically retired". Like you, it was the best years of my life. I have never been sorry for joining and it's helped me throughout my entire life. Now I work with Vets and it's still with me. A unique fraternity and the only one that admits women. ;)

@SuperSoldier4Freedom I'm going to enlist soon, before I started working out and PTing myself every other day, I did my 100 sit-ups in 2 minutes, I got my 20 dead-hang pullups, I decently ran my 1 mile in a half under 13 minutes. I thought I wasn't going to do good because of my slim body but I still pushed, all you need to do is push beyond your limit give it your all and show your commitment.
