Can you still do this if you are not necessarily a free-skier, or do any jumps at all? I am good at skiing I just can't do any jumps or tricks like that. Will I be able to do this?

Well, you can launch a small skydiving canopy, but its a huge difference between handling and performance. A skydiving canopy's main purpose is to let you break your speed from terminal velocity and land safely. The equipment we use for this is made for super fast and consistent inflations when groundlaunching. Also, you use different types of risers, mostly three of them, with good trim controls for various types of flights. The harness is different as well.

Not so much for speedflying, but for speedriding you need to have a good feel and balance on the skiis. Its the same gear, and pretty much the same sport, only in speedriding you try to ride more on your skis with the canopy flying over your head, while in speedflying you mostly use your skis for takeoffs and landings, or even just footlaunching without skis in the summer.

Honestly...are these in real time or sped up a bit? If they are real time your margin for error is nearly "0"...either way make sure your Life Insurance is paid up.
real time, it goes about 100km/h when you dig in some turns. Speed has got nothing to do with margins for error though, the consequences is higher in high speeds, but the margins dont have to be lower. The more speed you have, the more energy you have to move around quickly, and the less affected you are by winds and termics.
I'm not a 'diver but a pilot...and that is a wing above you, so it is more flying than falling. Agreed that Speed=Energy=Inertia=Stability. But more Speed = less time to fix errors, especially close in, thus a lower error margin. In some manoeuvres, like the one at 2:09, a Split-S/90 degree turn to "thread the needle"...ANY error could have NO time to correct. Seen the skydiver who tried to go under but HIT the bridge? If you die, ciao. But SURVIVING an impact would be REAL BAD!
I agree that more speed is less reaction time, and less time to make the right desicion, but if you dont have enough speed, and dont have an engine, like you do, you can fly yourself into situations you cant get out of with all the time in the world, or stall out, and collapse the wing. The 270 into the crack actually have plenty of outs, i can overturn to pass on the outside untill the last second.
