An ISP DECIMATOR NOISE GATE is used so that when you retrack the gutiars you get no noise and feedback in guitar gaps ( this way you dont have to chop guitar tracks where there is silence as the gate does it for you... same reason you would use it in a live situation.... If you are refering to tone sucking that occurs in cheap noise suppressors then you obviously should do some research on the ISP before you post.

@christofthedead It's a strange way to record guitars, normally you would use the decimator when tracking, not afterwards. Maybe they didn't have access to a noise gate when they were actually recording guitars?
