whats the runway length i've landed a 737-400 on a 2000 ft runway on my simulator at around 120 kts autobrakes set to 3 full flaps spoilers armed to deploy and full reverse thrust after touchdown.
@lpocTV The San Francisco Symphony had chartered the flight for it's West Coast Tour. It's origin that day was Chico, CA and the symphony performed at the Performing Arts Center at Cal Poly, SLO.
A 5,700 foot runway should not be a problem!! Just heavy reverse thrust and braking will do it. And take off should not be a problem either with the newer powerful engines!
@lunchbag08 I guess my RULER in GOOGLE EARTH is slightly off! Was close!..... Ah those fun days in SLO when I was stationed at Vandenberg back in the 80's!!!! NEVER did the worm at the "Flats" though!
@MSTLOM The departure end extension of Two Niner has just recently been completed. The approach end displaced threshold extension was done back nearly 10 years ago. KSBP is undergoing more renovation at this time as taxiway "Alpha" is demo'd forcing back taxi procedures for many of the larger aircraft. I waited 20 minutes with the prop turning last week to cross 29/11 so I could get back the newer east side hangars from the west side fuel depot!
Epic, I live in Paso Robles, love watching the CRJ regional jets take off and land from KSBP when I get the chance. Always nice to see a big fish in a small pond! I guess if this 737-800 can land there, then an A320 theoretically could too.
okay... why was Alaska Airlines flying into this airport? This isn't on their route map. This must have been a charter flight because SBP on has two REGIONAL airlines, US AIRWAYS and UNITED
It was a Charter Flight by the San Francisco Symphony while on their West Coast Tour and visiting San Luis Obispo's Christopher Cohan Center after their engagement in Chico, CA where the flight originated.
ahhh yeah I was there in the waiting area to fly out to Reno was a exciting thing to see, lots of the workers there were nose printed to the windows watching
True but the difference here is that the displaced threshold at SBP make the runway shorter. Then if you consider runway available beyond the glide slope the SBP is shorter still.

WAY TO BIG FOR SLO At current runway length

SLO Airport needs more larger Jet Airplanes to land here.

@Reed20009 The CRJ 900s are very nice... but a flight or two a day to Denver with a CRJ 900 would be nicer.

wow! that things WAY too big for SLO! what was the reason for this one to land there?

@lunchbag08
True but landing distance after the G/S is only 4400. Like I said before, it is not that short but it is one of the shortest we land on.

Is there a jetway at SBP that the 737 used, or did they use a stairway?
Legitjet 2 years ago
SBP is not set up with a jetway. All boardings and disembarking of commercial traffic is done by stairway.

Yeah, a symphony came to play at the Cal Poly center a couple of years ago.

737s, 757s, MD80s and even a FedEx Airbus A310 Jumbo land at Orange County airport (KSNA) everyday. The runway at KSNA is only 5700'

I guess I have missed a connection? Please explain the significance of Manchester, UK. I know 737 traffic is nothing but common there.

Thanks for posting the video. I don't live in SLO anymore. The best place to view airplanes.
