why can't I put the bitcrusher in fl?

You must have answered this question a 1000 times by now but it really doesn't work for me .

I downloaded it (.dll format) put it in the vst plugin file.

open fl, go to channel, click add one, click more, refresh list but it's nowhere to be found =S

@tryllevarhansnavn in my case fl was searching the wrong folder. go to options--> file settings.. in here you can select the folder in which you put your plugins. If you have the same problem as I had it should work now.

head back to channels--> add one---> more---> refresh (fast scan!).

it should pop up red now.

@TheWendywonka dude try loding the ddl in the channels instead of the mixer :) some plugins are standalone and some work with the mixer :) hope it helps o.O

If you get NI's relatively new plugin, Harmor, they have a preset that does this effect too. i'm sure you know how to make automation clips, but you can sit there and have it make one sound, change a little, and keep going. you did it in the end with the pitch and tempo, but all in-plugin you can achieve and control this entire sound. you should check it out!

Pull the fucking bitcrusher in the plugins folder of fl, now open fl and go on channels, in channels-add one-more-refresh(down at right). When the vst compare in the list, click the F (at left the name of the vst). And now your fucking vst is operative!¡!¡

@MatexBeats I think you have the bitcrusher on the master mixer track. Assign Harmless to its own mixer track and put the bitcrusher there.

@Goldbloodeddragon Put a limiter on your master so it won't get clippy lol.

Also the only thing you get from turning the resonance up like that is making it "self resonating", as in, you basically make a pitch modulated sine wave.

I recommend actually making a pitch modulated sine wave instead of using the resonance, that way you will have more control over it.

@Jannto Yeah, a sine wave does work (I actually tested that awhile ago, true story), but the problem with that is that it's not tonal and thus it wouldn't really work in a song. That's why I prefer using the resonance, because the sound still keeps the fundamental harmonic.

@BEAR713 Are you putting the bitcrusher on the master mixer track. Because the master controls everything, so ofc it'll mess up all the sounds. Link Harmless to one of the Insert's and add the effects from there. If it is still happening, then you'll have to google mfl studio mixing'. But I'm pretty sure it's because you're linking it to the wrong track.

@one4dee When you go to add an effect in the mixer channel click the "More..." at the very top, a window will pop up, click the "refresh" button and click "Fast scan", TAL Bitcrusher will show up in red, click the little F button next to it. It will now show up in the menu.

@Goldbloodeddragon Yes. Fl studio is as good or better than any other program i have used. I don't understand why it has a bad name within the producing community. Some things i do everyday on fl studio are impossible to do in programs like logic or reason without spending at least half an hour messing with it to get it perfect.

@ProducerRB Assuming you opened it in winzip...Go the bitcrusher folder, you should just see tal-bitcrusher.dll ..Thats all it is, Right click this and go to "Extract to specified folder" Now go to (In my case and in most pc's) My computer( or the drive Fl is installed) < Local Disk < program files < Image-Line < FL 10 < Plugins <Vst . Press ok. IF you need help after that message me.

@Yikak4 Go to the mixer board in FL where you put your effects, Click the drop down tab. there should be something at the very top that says browse more,..then at the bottom of that list you should see something that says "search for more plugins" do that and you should see it in red.

@RaptorCaka It is rather simple. If you hear random popping sounds that means either your sound card can't support the amount of envelopes, patterns, and 3rd party vsts. The same goes with the amount of RAM you have. If you are using a lot of 3rd party vsts, then that will explain the popping sounds, as it consumes of shitload of memory.

@starlitech you're putting the effects on the master mixer track and not the one that the harmless is assigned to. assign harmless to a mixer track and them put the effects there.
