People have too much money to spend. What can this knife do that a $100 dollar benchmade cant? What cant a $50 dollar kershaw do? Theres not even $400 dollars in materials in that knife or design. What a waste. Buy yourself a leatherman and your set for any daily need.
Its is durable and built to last, handel and monolock are made of 6AI4V Titanium, blade is made of 58-59 hrc S30V with a stonewash finish, Fittings are 303 stainless steel ,has a large blade pivot and perforated phosphor bronze thrust washers. the most important thing is it is made of good material and made to last
has no blade wobble and and it would not close one you during regular or hard use. It is backed up with a lifetime warranty includes, free hand sharpening, tuning, and lubricating. I failed to mention other facts about the Umnumzaan but you can look that up.
the umnaanzan is a nice knife, but it needs the liner opposite the locking side to be cut out to make unlocking it much easier. the way a sebenza is. IMO
I think it's trendy in high-end "tactical" knives. On the CRK site it says that Chris Reeve asked permission from Grant and Gavin Hawk (designers of the ZT Mudd) to use the thumbstud/bladestop design.
I realize that, the hawks designed a few new conceptions a few years ago. this kinda pivot pin set-up I feel will be wildly "used" in the production knives (monkey see- monkey do). who knows for sure, its fun to speculate.
Nice knife. I like the design and the feel of this knife. Also just some potentially useless info here for you guys. Umnumzaan means "sir", sebenza means "work" and umfana means "boy". In case you guys were wondering about the meanings of the names.
Left-Handed Umnumzaans are also now available (finally.) Just picked one up.
To the folks who ask about Striders vs. Reeves, the knives are entirely different in purpose and design. They are different enough in intent, materials and lines. It's really not a legit comparison. Get both. Seriously.
If you need to pick one of the two, the differences alone should be the deciding factor. It's not a "who makes better" decision, it's a "what do I do with my knives" decision.
thats not what im saying, a strider has a more rugged look that you will not be afraid of using it, the crk knives can handle it but most people cant help but to baby them...
@customtacticals the sebenza can be flicked u just need to know what you are doing... he sais they wont cover it in the warranty b/c they dont want some dumb ass whacking it open as hard as he can a shit load of times and blaming the knife because the standoff dents/breaks
Yea, that's probably what I'm gonna do. Later this year I'm gonna try to buy an Umnumzaan... then I'm gonna try to track down a Busse SF Natural Outlaw with Black G10 and coated blade..... gonna be an expensive year for me haha.
what up, nice vid and mint blade. dude the ruber on the thumb studs is there probably to inhibit wear and tear on the scales as the thumb studs would wear the finish over time, and seeing that its a high end folder people who have them soley for colectability would not want it looking that way. thats just my veiw anyways nice blade wish i had enough coin to get me one.
i could never afford that knife ...but would i love to own one HELL YES!!!

Does flicking open the umnumzaan void the warranty, as with the Sebenza?

Does this knife come in two sizes? Because in some of the reviews I've seen it looks small and most of them it looks very large.

take a look at the zero tolerance mud folder review and dosnt the pivot point and blade stop look similar? could this be a new trend in pivot points?

the little nib on the front can be used as a "sharper" point, when the knife is being utalized as an impact device.

Do the thumb studs on the umnumzaan allow quick opening? It just looks like it'd be slow because of how they're set by the handle scales.
the9thpillar 3 years ago
Yes, they do.. the knife can actually be flicked open, unlike the sebenza.

do you have proof that striders are more robust inherently than CRK?

Now I just gotta decide between the Umnumzaan and a Strider SMF RW-1. The Striders do seem more robust.....
