Watched this doc about a month ago and loved it. Bill is incredibly funny and smart so of course it's hard to screw up a doc about him. I thought the animation and stuff was kind of cool. Or at least it was something different. Overall I loved it and I'd recommend it everyone.
This is one of the stupidest "reviews" I've ever seen. Who is this idiot? Does he live on Mars? He's "not familiar with" Bill Hicks, never heard of Steve Martin's play 'Picasso at the Lapin Agile' (it premiered almost 20 years ago!!), never heard of the film 'The Aristocrats' (it's from 2005!) Five minutes of nonsensical, ignorant prattling. Ship this guy to a farm somewhere, please.
this movie was such shit. it is a testement to america's ADD. Most documentaries show photos, sometimes with the zooming and panning we're all familiar with. The makers of "American: a shitty collage of old pictures we ruined", they decided to ANIMATE the photos. It's retarded and distracting. Not to mention the movie itself is boring as shit, barely getting into what Bill Hicks believed and championed.
"In the years after his death, his work and legacy achieved acclaim in creative circles. In 2007 he was voted the sixth-greatest stand-up comic on the UK's Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups and again in the updated 2010 list as the fourth-greatest stand-up comic."
@aaronpolitical There are a lot of cases where a person achieves only esoteric fame, but those within his circle adopt his style, thus that person indirectly reaches a huge audience.
It makes sense to not have traditional reviews of the films, as Rethink Reviews is less about the quality of the movie and more about the subject matter in the movie.

My favourite comedian.

you learn nothing about the film except that he thinks it's good, 5 minutes in and he is still rabbitting on, this was a waste of a clip

Two dislikes? I guess Dennis Leary dropped by twice.

An unknown comedian died young but is supposedly influential? That's hilarious!

@Martinger2775 It was a joke. And I am not anywhere NEAR the fourth-greatest any-sort-of-comic, sorry about that... =D

@Martinger2775 his work is unfortunately becoming more and more relevant over time!!!

It kind of seemed like you weren't going to get to it for a while there.
