  • 4 people have no idea what they just watched.

This guy is a true male role model and inspiration for the future of our world. go get um!

  • next vision, a bionic car with self replication on mars

  • Iron Man or not, this dude is really the stuff movie and comic heroes are made off. A true human being.

  • Elon is the example for other men.

About the plane, its always possible and I believe that we will hear something specific about it very soon.

The only obstacle Elon will have to deal with is the way finding how to store at least 10 times more energy in the same size battery.

Shouldn't take more than 10 years for that I think.

    OIL sucks, Elon rocks!

  • This guy is my idol.

  • He is a genius and was born in my country :) (South Africa)

  • The shallow depth of field is nice from a compositional standpoint, but it sure would have been helpful to have Elon's face actually in focus, as opposed to just his lapel. :-(

  • true definition of a genius.. not only is he intelligent, but he uses that intelligence to help the human race advance for the better

  • oh man i can't wait for the affordable electric car. costs me 70 bucks fuel every WEEK!!

  • @halflifeproductionz Yeah it's getting expensive!

  • @BumbleBeeGS Yeah but I'm comparing electric cars to DIESEL cars.

According to Wikipedia, a diesel engine has efficiencies around 45%.

A coal fired powered plant has efficiencies around 50%.

  • @BumbleBeeGS Yes, but the VAST majority is produced by fossil fuels.

  • My vote for most impressive human.

  • @gairabad Would have to be a toss up between Elon Musk and John Carmack for me.

  • Elon Musk- Very Useful!

  • this man is probably going to change the world; substantially.

  • What the world really needs is another Elon musk (or two) who just put it all into developing cheap, commercial renewable energies. Bringing the cost of Solar down to less than $1/watt or less or to develop global-available geothermal. and this guy does seem like the real life tony stark. with a space suit.

  • The reality is this: diesel engines are more efficient than electric cars (when taking into account loss in electric grid etc.).

So unless the electricity is produced by non-fossil fuels, diesel engines are still the best/greenest option.

  • @152czar thats interesting thanks for that.

  • @152czar That's why he has a stake in SolarCity with his cousin.

  • The Bloom Bax will work in a Tesla. I think a 'small' Bloom box will work N a all electric car!! The car would get 4 times the mileage then the batteries currently used. If they can get the Bloom Box down 2 lets say $5-800.00 4a car,, it would help the us all. As well as lower the price of The Tesla & your space program. I also feel The Bloom Box can work in harmony with your solar technology. Super Cool Stuff!! I know you can make it happen Elon,, So check it out!! Citizen Angel l l : l l

  • This man is the Illusive man from Mass Effect 2...btw this man WILL lead private industry into space !

  • Hopefully he's not serious about the whole electric airplane thing.

  • WTF! Supersonic Electric planes. What a joke. Look at the energy density of batteries vs. jet fuel. There is no comparison, and there will never be a batter powered jet engine. Planes require high density fuel. Batteries can't do that.

  • @152czar I wouldn't say never.

  • @152czar not yet

  • Elon Musk O.G

  • My inspiration.Elon Musk is a man.

  • ONE MORE - If Tesla will accept PayPal? 1-ev.com

  • @1dashEVdotCOM lol

  • I don't really know this guy, but somehow I feel really inspired by him... I feel exited about the future and my idea of what I can achieve somehow went up.

  • YouTube Search : Heartland Horror

  • Fact: Musk's hair has grown denser after he got rich. This shows that baldness is no match for wealth.

  • I wonder what the 10 questions Andy Beal would be if he was to ask them?...commercial space rockets was Andy's idea, NOT Elon Musks'.

  • I think Elon "could" be right about electric cars but probably oil companies will crush it with green carbon neutral bio-diesel that will be better suited to the infrastructure we currently have.

  • @Sanescience what makes you say that? bio fuels have been researched seriously since the 1970s and they still cant make it economical. All these exxon commercials about them are complete bs, PR pleasers. Within 5 years, musk will have an affordable EV costing under 30k that will be able to go 230 miles on one charge on the market.

  • @Sanescience If you think about it, our electricity distribution system is far superior to that of the oil industry. We can transport electric "fuel" across the country, and directly to your home / work instantaneously.

  • Just to be clear Mr Musk, you're not accepting a loan from the Department of Energy, you're accepting tax dollars from U.S. Citizens. The DOE, or any other government entity makes no money and has no money of it's own.

Having said that, I wish you the best of luck with all your ventures, electric and otherwise. Capitalism will save us from oil dependency.

  • lol you can tell the interviewer wishes he could pull the trigger on elon's goods

  • Electric cars won't make it, again... :-\

  • What's the point of electric cars if most electricity in the U.S. comes from coal power plants?

  • @YairNava100 Because electricity can potentially come from any renewable/clean source unlike gasoline or any other option. In short electric has the most potential for being green of any option because any form of power can be stored electrically. Fusion/solar/wind/geothermal can all be used to charge an electric car for example. This is about the future, not what can be implemented in a half assed manner. Also if you look at the pollution caused by coal to power electric it is cleaner than gas.

  • @sirachman Not to mention thorium

  • @YairNava100 To build up the American economy. American made energy. Also, renewable energy generation can be expanded.

  • @YairNava100 because big coal power plants in every city are more efficient than small gas power plants in every car

  • @YairNava100 Because coal power plants are WAY more efficient than a car engine. AND it is far cheaper to make coal plants more efficient than it is to make thousands of cars more efficient. A coal plant has round the clock workers making sure the plant is working at peak condition. Your car ... likely a few times a year... A plant can spend $10k to be more efficient ... I doubt you can do the same for your car. Also, not all electricity is coal, with time that too will improve. Hope that helps.

  • @Idiomatick "WAY more efficient than a car engine" - not really. Average efficiency of a coal power station sits at 36% energy conversion and gas-fired at around 50% - without taking into account of energy loss through substations getting it to your house. A typical diesel engine manages closer to 40% efficiency and 30% to the wheels. Going to electric wont make much overall difference until the actual source of the energy is clean.

  • @desmonds22 Dont forget about exploration, drilling, transportation, refinement, transportation again and all the pumping losses in fossil fuel before you start the engine.

  • @kowosky Same can be said for the coal thats mined to make electricity, along with building of the power-stations, the associated infrastructure.Even super-clean enegry like wind farms or solar require a large energy investment in just building up o f the infrastructure before you start to see any offsets. The "go-electric" movement is the low-hanging tree of environmentalism which every politician can jump on but it makes little actual difference on the environment.

  • @desmonds22 Coal does not need to be refined and does not need to be transported nearly as much. You need 7kWh per Gallon to refine petrol, 20 miles in a nissan leaf. Also there is a lot more coal in the world then oil.

But coal is not the answer on its own. The point is the way the world produces electricity is changing. Wind, waves, tides and the Solar can all fuel our cars from a limitless local supply with a base load backup. Truth is It’s not a green thing it’s a security thing.

  • @kowosky think about that figure again - it implies a leaf does 20MPG - worse than a ford F150. But anyways...

coal to liquid petrol (CTL) production has been well known for generations, and its also quite inexpensive. (south africa's Sasol is actually the worlds biggest player in the CTL game). There is little risk of ever "running out" of petrol. The only thing that will ever push the world away from oil is economics - and so far we're not there yet

  • @YairNava100 It turns out coal power plants are both more energy and more CO2 efficient than personal automobiles. In addition, converting the fleet to electricity decouples transportation from the burning of fossil fuels. At that point you can use wind, solar, etc., as well as coal. Eventually we will have to better energy generation as well as consumption, but an electric car works on solving half that equation.

  • God, if I can ever afford a Tesla Roadster ...

  • @jibronii77 You'll afford the next one....it's gonna be half as cheap
