Their main mistake was the 1 million dollar prize. It created expectations that were so great that the backlash from the game's minor failings became proportional. It destroyewd the game's reputation like Vista. Do what Microsoft did... make Windows 7. Make an HD version of the game and smooth out the most of the ruff edges. Test the waters and mostly, don't over reach.

Even all these years later this is still one of my favorite games. I consider Mass Effect the spiritual successor to this game but I truly wish someone would make a sequel.

Yeah, the company went bankrupt, but the two people that MADE Advent Rising left that company and formed their own called Chair Entertainment. The original company still holds the rights to Advent Rising, though, and Chair Entertainment are trying to get it off of them. They say if they ever manage to get it, they will finish the trilogy.

@Lemoncode Don't kid yourself, the original game wasn't that great in terms of gameplay. It was pretty glitchy, outdated graphics. It's only redeeming qualities were a great story, and it's OST. It probably wouldn't be difficult for most developers to pick up the story where it was left off since it's not very complex. While I enjoyed the game I'm at least going to admit it went unappreciated for the very obvious problems it had.

If I want a deep and complex story where the characters have intriguing relationships, I'll go a read a book, because no video game is going to provide that.

everybody loves the Call of Duty every year strategy that Activision employs
and only Halo 2 is only mentioned in this reply because of it's multiplayer

Well I would want a sequel, because I'm curious how the story continues... What are these godlike creatures, where does Gideon end up, who is the mysterious alien guy (at the end of AR), what will happen to Marin, after she gets the superpowers, etc.? ;-)
There are many questions unanswered ^^
I hope that someday, they will finish the trilogy (or at least one sequel, which ends the story).

@Lemoncode Have a little more faith, why don't ya? All the games I have, have sequels that blow the original out of the water. (In terms of animation, gameplay, and-in some cases-realism, that is)

@Lemoncode if you finished the game you can tell that they planned on making a sequel =P, its like they finished a tv series in the middle of nowhere like if you watch one piece, im in the middle of the desert story, what if they finished the entire anime on the way to a town? if they made 2 but not 3 its like they finished the show right before they beat the boss guy =P

@Lemoncode Don't kid yourself, the original game wasn't that great in terms of gameplay. It was pretty glitchy, outdated graphics. It's only redeeming qualities were a great story, and it's OST. It probably wouldn't be difficult for most developers to pick up the story where it was left off since it's not very complex. While I enjoyed the game I'm at least going to admit it went unappreciated for the very obvious problems it had.

@BoydTheMilkmanX yay so was HALO. but every one loves HALO, although HALO sucks in story complexity, characters, relationships, personality and gameplay - just run*n*gun, no acrobatics, kinesis and other psi stuff and com'on a tin can of masterprick sorry amsterchief and gedeon - the hero and protagonist of AR wins hands down!

i am sorry but i have to disagree with you people say halo doesnt have a complex story because they only look at it from the out side which is the same thing that happened to advent rising but more of the population felt this way.
and i feel you are being a hypocrite thinking in such a way, by hating on a game yet defending a game from the hate.
they are both completely different games just because they have aliens doesnt mean they should be compared so closely.

@gameon2020 That's being a bit biased. I'm not a fan of Halo, and even I'll admit it's a good game (At least until the third one) The story wasn't deep and complex, but know what? It's a video game. If I want a deep and complex story where the characters have intriguing relationships, I'll go a read a book, because no video game is going to provide that.

I think it failed for a few reasons.
1. It was released around the time of halo... so everyone was busy playing halo.
2. thats why it got bad reviews, cause everyone was obsessed with halo at the time.
3. there is no multiplayer :(

it didnt make enough money and it got horible reviews.....
i think they should try remaking it(same story just better graffics and fix bugs)
and put it on the 360 see if it can get a second shot.
