  • STOP THE FUCKIN TALK, MORE CARS LESS WORDS...WE DON'T NEED TO HEAR U TALK...UNDERSTOOD?

  • For intelligent auto news go to autoline daily.

This guy has to have some on the right people to keep this job.

  • tfagocastro Fiat used to be a toilet back in the 80s probably before u were born. THEY IMPLODED ON DELIVERY AND COST MORE TO FIX THAN THEY WERE EVER WORTH!! So don't get so jacked about a line that u could wipe your ass with! How do I know this, I sold them, in yes, the USA baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have come a long way only because the new CEO!!! did a great job! Incidentally for you information he was EDUCATED in stupid AMERICA!!!!

  • FUCK FUEL FOR LIFE FUCK DIESEL!

  • This Italian Icon will keep the trolls busy...drool drool......

Why is it that most bile spewed over italian art is from bmw fans..

Italians are know for style, either cars or fashion simple as that.....

    Forza italia

  • I love the fiat 500 ferrari dealer edition. There is now one limited model to win on winadream.

  • i think that no matter what kind of car it is if they use the name ferrari it will be succesful even more so if its unconventional, slow, and cheap such as a ferrari smart fortwo or a ferrari vw beetle probly work with lamborghini too i think those two exotic manufacturers should also start looking into more suv's look at all these rappers that spend $70,000 a piece on on an escalade and ussually have a fleet of like 5 of them

  • @jomurdo92 ; Fiat 500 is an icon in it's own right, it was penned by Dante Giacosa in the mid 1950's and held record sales for years, it then attracted the petrolhead ie Carlos Abarth and became a tuning special like the mini cooper.

The new Fiat 500 is repeating the success of the 1950's.

Fiat have created a stylish pocket rocket in a small package and it is an icon.

The hideous smart car is a failure and only attracts oddbods..forza alfa

  • I like how you still use terms like "riced cars" maybe you should call SUVs with big wheels "Nigger wagons"?

    Fucking hell...

  • ew macintosh

  • Its Abarth, not A Barth, fcking american ignorant piece of shit -.-

  • @tiagocastrocampos Everyone is ignorant to one thing or another.......dumbass

  • @tiagocastrocampos It doesn't matter because it's a wog cunt car anyway.

  • Its Abarth said as one word!!

    Not A..Barth

    Muppet

  • ahhahahaah fuckin MUPPET! Cheeeeesseeeeburrrrrgererrrrrr fuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkkkkkiiiiiiiiinnnggggg nuggggggeeeeeeettttt! WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP! oh neg. your urban sports are complete hilarity.

  • Comment removed

  • im not a retard. i watch neg's urban sports. i thought u were cool cuz u called that guy a muppet. guess not

  • id roll the hatch, DOWN WITH RICERS!!, of any kind

  • you guys should do a segment on the collegiate FSAE competition class

  • its the PAGANI Zonda not the bugatti zonda u flippin tool. im legally changing his name to Derek Douchebaggery

  • erm...he said pagani..listen closely, lol

  • oh ya....whoops hahahaa i still hate him tho

  • s'ok, that's understandable, haha

  • thanks leo for those three websites i'm going to check out right now!!

  • Lol I love that reference to the W12.

    Derek D you're awesome man :P

  • leo is the man. and if you dont like racing, what r u doing here, GTFO!

  • More tech stuff would be just fine for me....but whats about driving technique???Like Walter Röhrl oder Keichii Tsuchiya showed theworld,,,so in short form...giveing tips how to become a better driver....

  • Great show team!

I enjoyed the Shakedown this episode. Maybe in the future, do a series of segments focusing on one discipline of engineering at a time?

  • More WRC please! And yeah most of it has been said, more tech, setups etc. I LOVE SHAKEDOWN! Keep it up!

  • To everyone who decided to tell Leo that his segment sucked, this is what you get for watching a car show. All the technology in street cars comes DIRECTLY from race cars. Brakes, engines, tires, aerodynamics, and even safety all owe their existence to race cars, and if you want to better understand tomorrows car world, you can't keep ignoring racing.

Keep it up Leo, and I will keep watching. And hey, if people dont stop being dumb, just get your own show. I'd watch it.

  • Y must everyone use the pic of my car? It's NOT A RICER!!! It's an aerodynamic kit!

  • Feedback on Shakedown: Do a segment on how the Average Joe can get into racing. (I'm thinking SCCA/NASA Spec Miata, in particular, as it's affordable and relatively simple to get started in.) I'd always thought racing was just for rockstars with big sponsorships and tv contracts, and it just isn't so. I'd be happy to show you around the amateur scene.

Heck, I'll be at VIR in October -- want me to do a spot for ya?

  • Shakedown. rocks. dont hate

  • Throwing a beer keg from a moving vehicle is not very bright--It`s alcohol abuse in Texas.

  • race cars with fenders and super super hot hatches. i what to see a report on powerful production hot hatches used in racing . like the old tabolt rally car, legendary lancia , golf gti.

  • Usually I don't like Shakedown, but this was a good segment. I like how he kinda went a little in depth like he actually know shwat he's talking about. I'd like to see more coverage of Moto GP and DTM. After all, they do have the most crashes right?

  • do not like leo's segments

  • Sorry - But, not surprised, as you fit the Demo - Seems ages 22- 25 are most likely to not like me.

NBD - Megan Fox has a new movie out and JackAss is playing on cable somewhere, so you're covered.

  • Lol you're right I'm 22 but... I'm a microbiology major about to enter med school next fall... not a loser who watches jack ass :-)

Don't take it personally it's just that you seem to report on racing stats a lot and... I just don't seem to like that sort of stuff at all. I really like Top Gear though and watching cars that handle well go around a track. Maybe you could add more F1 footage to your segments while you're talking about stats and race drivers.

  • Glad to hear. Ambition, yea!

Still trying 2 find footing on WHAT is best 2 cover on SD. I agree it need 2 be more than just racing stats.

Feedback on last segment says it will be OK 2 get into the cars / tech more, just not make it boring.

Frankly, we've got a little rights issue w/ F1 footage. WRC, MotoGP, Drift, Touring Cars, Le Mans, SuperGT will make the mix / with details on what makes them go.

Give us a shot for a bit more, then decide if you like or still no. Thanks.

  • damn throw a beer cane.. haha nice one

  • hot hatch= hot

  • dont bother watching Leo, it dont interest me. so only have an episode....

  • more WRC

    leo.

  • Hey that Murciélago with the rocket box is awesome, I would take that to the mountains to go skiing, its got AWD. now I just need to find some 335/30 ZR 18 snow tires.

  • abarth as in apple, not Abarth as in A

  • super-hot hatch is not a new market...the mini cooper JCW does, after all, exist and sell quite well.

  • hey could you guys feature a little more WRC racing cause i think it has the potential to become a lot more popular but never gets broadcasted... its my favourite racing series :)

  • Yeah I agree

    MORE WRC

  • Wow, looking great.

  • that race car info part was actually prety cool

  • that lambo with the ski box is owned by jon olsson. his old lambo had a artic camo paint job.

  • this new 500 is Kick Ass

  • i think the abarth hatch is a waste, the rear light of the new E-class look like camry lights lmao

  • my god what the fuck did they do to the lamborghini. someone deserves a cuple of bullets in there knees.

  • What a fucking dick this guy is. absolute twat

  • Leo you forgot the most important thing in a race car THE DRIVER

Here an suggestion what you could do

how about teach these guys who come here

about real and famous racing cars

like every week one legendary racing car

like the Lancia detla Mercedes W125 or the W126

not to mention the legendary silver arrows

Alfa romeos even for those japanese cars lovers

the Mazda 787B and ect ect.

    What do you think?

  • Going through the list of topics people want - more tech, touring cars, and understanding how the tech / cars / teams work is coming to the front.

But I AGREE with you about THE DRIVER. eg- We could introduce some Driver Skills [the craft and the mental strategy part] to the discussion - eg- HOW Senna used to go to track-center on corner exit to 'block' when under attack. HOW to work on set-up [even for a street car].

We can also do a cover on key racecars to uncover the tech.

  • Thanks that would be interesting

Also trainings of the drivers not just on track but off the track as well-

Like going to the gym working on neck muscles hand/arm muscles, running, ect.

All of the F1 drivers have special diets too.

Michael Schumacher even had that guru called Balbir Singh...

I mean drivers especially the one in F1 are one of the best payed people in the world you should show the people that it isn't just sit and drive its much harder then that.

  • Wow the FIAT 500 looks great but only 180 HP the normal Abarth has the same horse power. Carlsson great job as always :)

Riced out exotics? No way that doesn't exist

    they are called eccentric.

  • No the base 500 Abarth has 45 hp less. This has more power, different suspension, different seats, different head lights, different wheels, different exhaust, different body trim, and different paint.

It's far enough removed from the normal Abarth that it's really is a car worth highlighting.

  • There is a tuning kit from FIAT where they put out 180 HP from the Abarth 500 SS

And not to mention that the Assetto Corse has 200hp

I i love this new 500 but you know

    a little more HP doesn't hurt :)

  • super hot hatch

    super cool

    B\

  • would love to see the race tech bit if they got a little more involved than the basics, and i would like on Abarth too.

  • Shakedown this week was great. I love racing tech. It would be excellent if say once or twice a month leo showed more in depth info on a different class of race car!

  • i think shakedown is dumb and i just skip it!!!

  • hey leo, tell me how i can get into a sports car on a budget!

  • shoot de fukin sound editor!!!11 sound's all mubled!!!1 wtf!!!1 lulz!!1 ;-p noobz!!1

  • love the fiat

  • The riced exotics made me want to puke.

  • I liked this shake down. keep going w/ the race car dynamics and stuff.

  • that "hothatch" is not hot

it looks like is from MINI !!!!!!!

  • fiat 500 launch - 1957

    mini launch - 1959

*the mini looks like the fiat*

  • That Abarth is the shit!! You know not what you speak of. The only things I can think that would be better in the hot hach category are:

    1. GTI W12 650

    2. Alfa Romeo Mito GTA

    3. Ford Focus RS (Current model)

    4. VW R32 (I own one so I'm partial)

If Fiat gives the US a similar trim of the 500 with a twin clutch and 175-200 hp, then I'm totally "downsizing' from the 2008 R32.

I also really hope Ford has the balls to do something interesting with the Fiesta when it hits the US.

  • I would like to know more about the leman series and how ford dominated with their gt car

  • Probably not, but hoping you are in an ever-growing minority.

FYI- Glenn Beck is on, maybe he's better for you.

    See you [not?] next Thursday.

  • Am I the only one who skips through Shakedown? I just cant listen to that guy

  • I fucking hate shakedown

  • is the fiat 500 fwd only? or do they have an awd platform?

  • even though abarth is going crazy with that 695 i think the true hot hatch is and always will be the mini cooper jcw or mini cooper gp.

  • funny lol

  • lol "why are you dressed like that, where is derek, I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!"

  • I'd drive the wheels off that fiat... they are a lot of damn fun..

  • So I appreciate the format and everything but this shit is yesterday's news

  • Nice cars :P

  • This command is in regard to the 695 Tributo, I think that the success of an exotic hot hatch totally depends on the price tag. If it is reasonably cheap, then yes, there will be a market for an afforteble tuned peace of Italianness. But is it also has the Ferrari price tag, than sadly it would be for the best to just stick with a one of concept and never take it in to production.

  • more on production based race cars: wrc and touring cars. specifically:

-how much in common do race cars have with the roadie donors. a Subaru wrc costs over half a mil and it's based on a 40k sti how much in common can they have?

-how much do the above similarities impact road car design. Subaru claims the STI is "rally bred" is it, or are the cars different enough that the race and road engineers never see each other.

and the same with touring cars: beemers, audi and so forth

  • Will remember to share the difference info, if we know....

BTW- Some of that half mill is design and evelopment, not just hard parts.

  • how about this for a new hot hatch: take a good hatch, like a golf, cut down the weight to almost half of the car, add new boxy styling and precise steering.

how about companies will cut the crap and make good cars like the original golf?

  • I thought Abath already made super Fiat 500s?

There is something I dont like about the E-Series Merc. I really hate the tailights.

The Civic would look good if it didnt have the license plate and that big wing. Wow they f&*ked up those exotics.

Wow everyday people do more and more stupid things. A keg out the window? I think the world is going to end in 2012. If its not by our own hand, itll be from the earth killing us all.

The Suit lost me today. Too techie today!!!!!!!!!

  • Please, more about Super GT Series!

  • i already was in love with the original abarth 500, I would love to own of the these new ones, too bad abarth isn't state side yet

  • that EG6 was fuuuuuugly...

have you done any mods to your car derek? any plans?

  • Wow 625 is HOT! will fiat take a punto and mod it like the 500? into a SUPERHOTHATCH

  • If i had Murcielago i strap on 2 roof racks.. dude its' a lambo.. lol What if the guys really enjoys the car and willing to travel with it????

  • I'm sorry Leo - while i respect that in the past racing was good.....now its just over paid losers killing the best technology on the planet. Its like watching animal abuse through your TV. Every racers believes they are god - and have external locus of control. So i anything happens they blame someone else. Bruce McLaren would turn in his grave to see the modern racing world. The hero's are dead or being killed off - Even Haga got told to ride responsibly.

  • a] IMO, if you are gona be good in racing, you gotta believe you are god [or at least really good].

But, it does get over the top some times these days.

b] But, really? The Unsers weren't just like [your assessment of] today's drivers with THEIR attitudes?

c] Bruce was great. @ the same time Mario was Mario.......

d] I'm not sure how much things really change.

  • That little Abarth looks like fun. However they should do some real work to make sure the little drivetrain can handle it.

  • Comment removed

  • If you want to see a super hot hatch search youtube for Ford Fiesta Cosworth. It has 600HP, does 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and 0-100 in 6 seconds. Do it!

  • Raging Kegger in my moms corolla. BE THERE!

  • Great job FLD! That Abarth looked sick. Someone commented that the Super Hot Hatch is nothing that new, beyond the verbiage I agree with that comment. The V6 Clio was too bad ass to not be considered. love the ShakeDown, way to get the haters to quiet down Leo. I look forward to the opportunity to learn more about how different types of race cars work.

  • Leo, I'm starting to dig it. The primer was a great idea. Back down the music and slow down a bit, we want to hear what you're saying.

Not a big race fan but you got my attention featuring that exotic race technology.

    Well done...

  • Leo, nice job on the shakedown I enjoyed it. Personally I don't enjoy rattling off of wins and losses but I guess it can't be helped because many viewers expect to hear that type of stuff, but I really enjoy when you teach stuff; not a lot of time for detail but piquing nonetheless. DD bad jokes.. :P

  • hey dereck d check out my "cars and coffee" posted in my channel for some real car porn! from socal where cars matter more than people

  • haha its gonna be a mexican 4 door saloon with nacho seats, a taco shifter and runs on pico de gallo salsa .... or flexfuel with wacamole

  • Derek you hardly even mentioned the Fiat500's paddle shifters, which in my opinion would be one of the top features - being a tribute to Ferrari

  • Leo......Lets have a bit look the Australian super car series. We hear a couple of sentences every few weeks but that's it

  • Those are Mid-engined Honda NSX's on the SuperGT clip Leo Parente pointed out, not Corollas.

  • pretty sure he meant the pic of the orange car @ 7:25

  • Hey Leo thanks for the mention of desert racing (short as it was). The SCORE race in Primm is this weekend and the world famous Baja 1000 is coming up soon (November). I will be attending this year and possibly co-driving a section in class 1700.

A 2 million dollar Trophy Truck is just as much fun to watch as any other super expensive pavement car. Maybe a little more mention of desert racing in the future could be a good thing.

  • Hey FLD, What's the story behind the new Ford Focus RS, any news on US pricing and availability? and if you could do a FL detour with that car someday, I want to see it on a track vs. say a mazdaspeed 3. hell if you came near Ohio for that test, then I'll lend the speed3!!!

  • Cars used to be better back when you could actually work on them yourself. Cars now have to many things that are unnessesary, such as: ABS, EBD, ESC, F1 style transmissions and I'm sure a few things I missed. But cars used to be better.

  • see that your not a porsche fan. But why go all the trouble viewing them and hacking them up.

Seems like deep down you cannot aford one and just envy of people who has to much. I have a house, 2 cars and money. What do you have to show for.... I will compare life stats and accomplishmets with you any time. I bet you will come up with something but your just lying to yourself.

  • so i posted a comment on the sound of this guy's boxster. I told him my own personal opinion on the way it sounds. ( i told him in all honest it sounds like crap). He then proceeds to send me this awesome message (see above):

  • Leo bores me.

  • one

That Fiat looks AMAZING. I'm stunned. Get them in the US now.

    two

Shakedown has seriously improved. I actually paid attention throughout the entire thing, and it interested me in the racing scene. thank you. I'm looking forward to more of these segments

  • GURNEY FLAP

  • some riced exotics look cool. others look ridiculous

  • with Global warming & the entire Global 'Economique' down turn "SUPER hot hatches is a brilliant idea, considering the sales of hot hatches have all gone up & they extremely popular in UK its a definitely GO Go zone for Manufacturers I mean u c can have all the fun of a sports car carry ur kids to school go out shopping & on the w'end drive it like u stole & hang out with the boys outside the gym.

  • Just because his different doesn't make it a good thing!

  • I think that the hot hatch idea great idea! They have great handling, good gas mileage and very spacious.

Leo I love the info man keep up the great work. By the way you should take some fashion tips from derrick D, You dress like my old principal. Class in Session kids

  • You guys made me cry with the riced exotics segment.

  • aveo sport hatch lol i can see it now

  • Aveo SS

    Aveo5 SS

  • im not gonna lie thatd b pretty sweet put a turbo ecotech in it that would fly

  • I like hot snatch?????

  • Go R15! Audi ROCKS!!!

Doesn't the orange Mid-Engine look more like a ASL Garaiya?

  • Had to go check the SuperGT site entry lists [as there are so many Japan market iterations of modelas]. The 2 [orange and a blue car] are listed as -

    TOYOTA COROLLA Axio / 2GR-FSE.

  • Wow, that corolla had to have some kind of bad botox to go from family car to that! Thanks Leo, I actually like the Shakedown section! (I don't get but one racing channel, SPEED, and they never show GT races, just the annual Le Mans 24 race...)

  • Hey leo, I know you will always do the f1 and moto GP stuff, it would be awesome if you could show highlights from different series, or pop up websites for the different ones. I would like to hear more about koni challenge, speed world challenge, drift lemans and I like the once a year stuff like pikes peak and targa newfoundland. Good spot today.

  • great segment today leo!

  • Riced out exotics ahhhh it's the end of the world!

  • That murci is not a RICER that is a fully functional aesthetically aerodynamic car fitting mod. It was well engineered the owner of the car lives in Sweden and drives it everyday and own a ski- goggles company

  • I bet no one ever knew that Alfa Romeo existed. The only people that probably knew were the ones that engineered and built it.

  • Fiat500 - I think it's awesome, not too much power for the small FWD car!

Leo ShowDown - It's naturally aspirated not normally, but still a great introduction for new comers! I love motorsports!

  • I fear the same about the power but maybe not. Lets hope Fiat is using the same type of tech that allowed Ford to produce a functional 300hp FWD hot hatch.

  • why do people ruin cars, manufacturers spend millions on r and d,and glitter paint rocks NOT

  • wow that was a very informative episode of the shakedown. that would be awesome to talk about different aspects of what it takes to engineer a race car. Valentino is a god on two wheels. I wonder if there will ever be a rider as great as him ever again?

  • what? the cars at 7:21 are both Honda NSX's not a toyota corolla :s

  • The orange car after was the......Corolla.

  • Leo, I think today's shakedown was great. Let's talk about Le Mann cars more in depth.

  • maybe they were trying to take out the cop car with the keg lol

  • i think those boys played tooo much of virtua cop 2

    =P

  • I think Leo rocks. You are not going to get that much detailed, unwatered down information on auto racing anywhere else. Respect the lion! rawr :D

  • The Hot-Hatch may be a great idea, but everyone knows it'll end-up creating a new Ricer Craze.

Although i wish Europe and Japan would import their sport-wagons here. They look better, probably are more efficient, and probably have just as much (or more) space than the bulky american SUV's and such. And who wouldn't want to own a Mitsubishi Evo Wagon?

  • dererk D's face after the bagel thing is frightening, yet also says "come hither"

  • i once knew a man with a gopher- scrotum couch. never sat in it.

  • does that shakedown guy have turrets?

  • Yeah. Tank turrets.

  • Hey, great show guys,

I was wondering if you could do more "stuff" on drifting?

I think drifting is the only motorsport, when you can put an LS2 in an s13... so its pretty awesome.

  • Vegas Drift in Oct, I think.

Will pick it up then is the plan.

  • if you want a super hot hatch you should buy a 2009 gti,or 1983 gti

  • haha poor leo being hated on and for such funny reasons too :p

  • Yes!! Hot Hatches Please. VW's SMART's KILLER KIA's and more, Bring it!!

  • Killer Kia's???

  • Funny that the Killer Kia's is what caught your eye. I'd rather see some well tuned maybe turbo charged fuel efficient rides. Performance is important but these days efficiency is equally as important.

  • JDM is cool, a modified muscle car is cool, but ricers arent

  • Leo, you are good at what you do. i love watching Derek but when you come on with your commentary i always listen more cause you pack so much into your shakedowns. btw, the shakedown is my favorite section, i learn a lot. but to everyone i do really enjoy the show. keep up the good work

  • I wanna see hear more about Formula Nippon!!! I had no idea that class existed till you brought it up thanks Leo!

  • did he say goffer testicle skin?

  • yes i did....was i serious?...no i wasn't

  • Good job leo, your good at what you do.

  • yep! lets move on!

  • Shakedown?! Nothing about the alleged race fixing by Renault? C'mon Leo! As for the "super" hot hatch, they'll have to go a bit further to match the mid-engined Clios, or the latest Megane F1/Cup not even to mention the 300bhp Focus RS. p.s. throwing out beer? "Idiots" indeed Derek

  • I feel I got burnt talking all about the F1 breakaway, OLY to have it all be just posturing.

So, I am going to let the R soap opera play a litle bit. As I am with Toyota and the 'stay or go' BS. PS - A lot of the Toyota F1 crew just joined the LinkedIn racing group. Last time something like THAT happened was when the Honda F1 boys lost their team and started netwroking for their next job!

  • i like the fiat it looks kind of like one of the frenchpeugeot hatchbacks from the side and i love the color w/stripes. Good job fiat!!

  • Hey Leo, very nice! not only talking about news. keep up the tech side of shackdown which is very interesting.

  • super hot hatches? theres many. clio v6rs, focus rs. lancia delta s4 and evo. theres actually alot. also that was the best shakedown yet but leo still needs to slow down. and people will always not like you just dont care.

  • i think the abarth fiat is cool, its like a mini cooper or cooper s of the old days

  • BEST SHAKEDOWN EVER!!!!! go over f1 calss stuff like K.E.R.S.

and some of the bikes too!!!!

  • nice honda civic hachback

  • nice honda civic hachback

  • Oh what about the Japanese Super GT? I also like Australian V8 Supercars. Now tell me more about that shit and you got me fully sold on Shakedown.

  • that fiat is sick

  • I freaking love LeManns...I'd like to know more about DTM and KONI (like who the notable racers are and wins/loses)

  • As far as hatchbacks go.... Renault Clio V6 mid-engine. Older but still should receive an honorable mention.

  • Hey Leo! Cool segment. My personal favourite class of racing involves production based bars. It always impresses me that something I see everyday on the road can be transformed into a wicked racing machine. Formula 1 is boring to me because the cars all look almost exactly the same! And I'll never drive anything close to that. But Mustangs and RX-8's aren't pipe dreams for me to be able to drive... my two cents!
