I have a 27" i7 and it's my first Mac, and if you boot it in windows mode for gaming it's the best game computer u can imagine! Good fps at extreme resolutions well above full hd, and an amazing bright led display!

@MaximusCerberus Your looking at this the wrong way, this is an all in one. Most other all in one pc's in this range can't even run WoW with their shitty Nvidia 9400m's and ATI 4330's. I've seen this model iMac playing Crysis at 1920x1080 smooth (albeit with no AA) but you get my point, people don't buy these for gaming but for work, design and multimedia. So the fact it can play games is an excellent bonus.

it's because computers aren't relying on the human brain. computers can jut out randomly and have a hard time doing things on occasion and so they have random small spikes in fps that are barely, but still noticed by the human eye

I realize the specs are really good on your computer...but trust me if you turn the shadow settings all the way down your framerates will go up by atleast 20-30. The shadow settings really slow shit down.

ok ok ok.. but he has the duo core. Not the Quad core. Plus he only has 4 Gigs of RAM. and in his description bar, you can see that his average FPS is about 24-30 and lower is 13-18 the higher is 31. But seriously. He has less specs than me. I have a Quad core and 8 Gigs of RAM. That is why i get around 30-40 FPS on average.

I'm not completely sure of what your saying.. I mean your third right of about having the iMacs get 1GB VRAM. But if you really try to get a computer that has the same specs. You'll probably end with a little more money, about 100-200 dollars more. If you build it yourself however, you'll get it for LESS. But it will have no warrenty. So i think iMac is a pretty good deal, same as the Mac Pro. But the Macbook and Macbook air are shit. They have bad quality for too much money.
i would say that they are better for media purposes than windows is and they are getting closer to windows in the gaming department as well.... compared to 2 years ago... macs weren't even used for anything else than media and buisness now it's getting closer to gaming.

I run wow on my mac and under that option meanu (mac options), you can set it up to record movies apparently. Not quite sure as I have yet to use the feature, but I guess it's interesting that macs have a special options screen.

Thank you for your blatantly logic answer that I absolutely couldn't figure out by myself. Just kidding :P Anyway, I still wanted to know if it was annoying. Changing the mouse sensitivity makes it harder to guide the mouse at specific (smaller) points of the screen.
That isn't the fault of Apple; it is a sacrifice that you make when you buy a display with a large resolution. One thing you can do to correct this is edit the mouse sensitivity OR mouse pointer speed in the settings.

theres not really a solid answer for how many graphics cards they bring out, because truthfuly apple until the last couple years didnt even use graphics cards in the notebooks and all in ones, it was all integrated, so my guess is they might release 1 or 2 newer cards in 2010

@BoyZeke87 yes you are right, but the game wont LOCK at 20 fps it might dip down to 10 and be laggy, therefor you want the most frames possible, also when a game runs at 30 fps its choppy, thats why you want 60 fps+.

I realize the specs are really good on your computer...but trust me if you turn the shadow settings all the way down your framerates will go up by atleast 20-30. The shadow settings really slow shit down.

This is a large screen Intel machine that can hold up to 16 GB of RAM, runs a very advanced, stable OS.

@ MaximusCerberus Um go to the search bar. and type in "Increase graphics in WOW" It'll show you how to increase the graphics. It's a Macro, but not alot of people know about it yet. But now you know.

ok ok ok.. but he has the duo core. Not the Quad core. Plus he only has 4 Gigs of RAM. and in his description bar, you can see that his average FPS is about 24-30 and lower is 13-18 the higher is 31. But seriously. He has less specs than me. I have a Quad core and 8 Gigs of RAM. That is why i get around 30-40 FPS on average.

@ MaximusCerberus and if i just play wow on max settings(no macro involved or turned off macro) I will get big FPS. Around 90 - 100. Strategy games i play are the real hardcore ones. The ones that have the best graphics. That's why it's also 90-100 too.

No no no... your being wrong. There's a macro in WOW that increases the games graphics. Over th Max limit. It's legal, but it will cost you big FPS. That's why i only get 30-40FPS on my Mac.

Crysis: i may not play at max settings put i play it at very high settings, i get 30-40 fps.
World of Warcraft: I play it on Max settings and get about 50-60 fps.
Aion: I play at Max settings and get about 40-50 fps.
All the rest like strategy games: I play it on Max settings and get about 90 - 100 fps.
I can do all this, in a 27" iMac Quad i7 8GB Ram ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB.
Not to mention all the other software i use like Garageband, Quick time X, etc

I don't know... a 27" monitor WOULD cost about 1500 dollars... But with the screen they have now, LED- Back lit? Or IPS technology. Anyways. All those hardware are crammed into 500 -1000 dollars. But look at PC, Alienware is nice, but if your in to composing music, cutting clips from a scene, and editting pictures, i'm a gamer myself but i'm also the creative type. I would rather choose a Mac to cut, edit, and compose than just play games. Sure crysis won't work on max settings.. i don't care.

@MaximusCerberus the funny thing is my imac will still be worth more then a thousand bucks so if i want to sell it it will easily pay for itself and if i keep it even longer i can get more money for it the resale value is great on macs because in a few years that gaming pc you built or bought is not even gonna be worth 400 dollars and my mac will still be worth over 1000 dollars so i think im not the one who got ripped im just saying lol

I'm not completely sure of what your saying.. I mean your third right of about having the iMacs get 1GB VRAM. But if you really try to get a computer that has the same specs. You'll probably end with a little more money, about 100-200 dollars more. If you build it yourself however, you'll get it for LESS. But it will have no warrenty. So i think iMac is a pretty good deal, same as the Mac Pro. But the Macbook and Macbook air are shit. They have bad quality for too much money.

i would say that they are better for media purposes than windows is and they are getting closer to windows in the gaming department as well.... compared to 2 years ago... macs weren't even used for anything else than media and buisness now it's getting closer to gaming.

I didn't say the freaking netbook you moron -.- i meant the iMac, the desktop. i've got a 4gb ram, 3,0 ghz amd athlon dual core processor with 1gb video card and 500gb hdd.... and this machine sucks compared to the mac's.... I would say that of my experiences with windows i'm going for a mac.. not just for edting but for future gaming, the tech specs are pretty good if you look on how long they last and how much support apple give you, i've used windows and pc's since i was abour 3 years old... that's 13 years... i'm going for a iMac 27 inch i7, 8gb ram in summer... i will never use a windows again because... windows sucks in general.

I run wow on my mac and under that option meanu (mac options), you can set it up to record movies apparently. Not quite sure as I have yet to use the feature, but I guess it's interesting that macs have a special options screen.

In which OS are you playing actually?...i heard the windows version (in bootcamp) gives some more fps than mac, especially in Windows 7.

That isn't the fault of Apple; it is a sacrifice that you make when you buy a display with a large resolution. One thing you can do to correct this is edit the mouse sensitivity OR mouse pointer speed in the settings.

theres not really a solid answer for how many graphics cards they bring out, because truthfuly apple until the last couple years didnt even use graphics cards in the notebooks and all in ones, it was all integrated, so my guess is they might release 1 or 2 newer cards in 2010
