  • casulty or holby cant remember

  • At the beginning of the month I was getting 36MB/s, since we joined BT Infinity. At the moment though, I am down to 2MB/s, I have no idea why. I am not using the internet more than I normally do.

  • virgin media all the way

  • BT Infinity rocks. Just had mine installed and already I've jumped from 8mb to 28.74mb download speed. The guy reckons once it settles in I will get anything up to 40mb. To be honest I'm happy with just 28.74...fucking brilliant.

  • My download is 1mb and upload is 0.23mb worst ever especially when you upload something to youtube!

  • Sure 40Mb/10Mb is fast especially compared to my 6Mb/1Mb connection. But BT ALWAYS start conservative and slowly make their way to a technologies potential. The technology has a theoretical limit of 250Mb so there's still a ways to go to fully utilize the FTTC tech. I think BT said they are going to offer 80Mb next year and my area should be upgraded by then, so I hope to get that service ASAP =).

  • @LeJimster bt infinity is actually provided by virgin media so when virgin goes to 100mb bt will get 40mb a technician explained it to me

  • @johnat112 err.. I'm 99% sure he's wrong. BT and Virgin have their own fibre networks respectively. I'm planning on moving to something called Digital Region which is another privately owned network in my area. You can see where they've layed all the fibre ducts to cabinets in my area. It's a big job.

  • @johnat112 Yep this is rubbish seperate networks

  • only up to 40 mb .... virgin is shitting all over them with 200mb ..... suckers

  • Got BT infinity but not with BT, they throttle you to hell, I'm using eclipse internet, anyone looking to get bt I'd go for eclipse internet or zen. They both use bt's FTTC fibre network just dont throttle like BT do

  • So glad I live in a fibre area, yes this speed is fast enough for most people at the moment...BT infinity's top service is only slightly faster than Virgin's mid-range service - the trouble is most people on ADSL can't achieve a speed more than about 8mbit which these days isn't fast enough for households if a couple of people are watching iplayer, youtube or playing on xbox live...the ADSL infrastructure needs to be upgraded fast

  • Virgin 100MB soon to be 200MB :) BT sucks :p

  • having it installed tomorrow, excited! :D

  • @CHRISxELITEx upgrade to bt infinity, fucking brilliant.

  • Fiber optic wont always be fast sometimes your going to be downloading from a very slow server that someone else set up.

  • Gettin it installed on the 5th of May. Cant wait :D:D:D

  • why is my BT so slow help me BT or im telling my dad to change BT plz someone HELP

  • @MrNadersharahily what deal do you have?

  • Can you call Openreach direct if you have line problems or speed issues with Infinity, anyone have the number for Openreach.

  • 1.pc.laptop too much on it have found this to be the case many a time and people dont check get higher speed and end up with same problem ,2. wireless (they do an all in one unit now much better then two units but allways best plugged in 3.signal levels and the isolator (box on inside where comes in from outside)sometimes techs knock your signal down as not enough high signal ports due to being lazy

  • yea copper from cabinet this does not make much difference as some times you have to turn signal down you have two parts of signal with virgin the first is 128.000 which should be showing 5db and you have another which is 666.750 which should be -5db this is the best signal and the way it should be set up the signals should have a 10 gap not to close together and not to spread out ,make sure the guy does this as sometimes they are lazy (not sure about bts signals)

  • had infinity 16 days started off 37meg download and 7.4meg up now it is peaky as hell any where from 11meg/32meg and 3meg /5meg up load. and it will not stream 1080hd video from the likes of youtube or bbc i player and thats 10am in the morning not peak times. my old 7meg off of them was smoother by a long way. bt engineer back out on monday i will keep you informed of his visit

  • @anth69y mines nothing like that constantly over 25 :/

  • @3333gavin lots of people not happy with it when you web search even when mine is pulling 36meg it still struggles with playing 1080 hd videos on the web . computer is quad core 4 gb ram 2400 clock speed

  • @anth69y :/ well i watch bbc hd download films and my cousin can be on live on cod and everything runs fine :/

  • @3333gavin my son runs his xbox360 wireless online gaming which runs on normal broadband anyway so infinity makes no odds to that . i had the open-reach engineer out and showed him. his gear said it was 37meg but it obviously there is more to it that speed as i showed him . 10 o clock in the morning you would think a hd video would not need to buffer 5 to 6 times for a 10 min film you can see it loading dead fast then it stops then slows then dead fast again , no way 37meg lol . exchange fault

  • @3333gavin It's probably their PC. My laptop can't even play 72p lol.

  • @3333gavin yes but it is very peaky if you test it properly and it still dies at peak time. when we get fibre from the cabinet that's when it will be fast and less throttled back . virgin and some private companies use fibre all the way if you are lucky enough to live in an area with it laid down

  • @anth69y My BT infinity is perfect, I get 37meg down and 8meg up 24/7, regardless of the time. Plus it peaks to around 45meg down when downloading from steam and I'm only meant to be getting 40mb, so it's great for me. I can stream 1080 hd videos with no problems at all.

  • @anth69y oh thanks bt for not bothering to come i only waited 5 hours for you .

  • @anth69y during the day i get a touch over 40meg (had up to 43meg!) peak times i get between 35 and 37

uploads daytime about 8meg peak times about 7meg

the bt cabinet with the infinity in is about 8 houses away from me

  • @philonline31 had the engineer out he tested it said i was indeed getting38mg but i showed him what i meant when it keeps buffering hd video and also the speed tester needle bouncing all over the place . he changed the white openreach box which made no difference and said he would report it and have them look into the exchange. 1 month on it is way better but i would not say perfect , there is obviously more to it than raw speed . as for the bt call centre 0 openreach10/10

  • @anth69y call centres are not that good at all, think we can say that for any call centre (BT, Vodafone or any other)

Openreach are good, I was given the Openreach engineers mobile, he said any problems give him a call! (nice of him!)

  • @anth69y

that's unacceptable, BT do say it takes up to 10 days to sabilize the line, something to do with profiles. You need to call BT and tell them your Infinity speeds are way-off !

  • same here mate i now its bad

  • @anth69y wow, i can even stream 1080p videos on youtube without problems on my talktalk line which connects at around 4meg

  • All I can get is 6.0Mb, our router is crazy when 2 computers are online to the router, it shares out the connection, so 3.0Mb each, not like the other one gets 4Mb and the other gets 2Mb, when 4 computers online, 1.5Mb shares out, when 6 comps are online 1mb is to each computer, so when like 12 comps are online, 0.5Mb is shared out, by the way my family only got like 4 comps and 3 laptops.

  • @cousinsuk doesn't sound too good

  • I've been on 512K for years as i live miles away from the exchange! Terrible! I'm currently waiting for my MAC code from Virgin to switch to BT Infinity and they've estimated my speed at 30mb down which is unbelievable to what i'm used to lol.

  • @deltafit I got 70K for years. I've now moved to BT Infinity with 40MB.

  • I gotta wait 3 months till I can get this :(

  • got to say as a virgin engineer thats not what i expected to see from bt pretty good i know they are installing the fibre ops but thats were it comes in the road not by pole and it still cost a bomb to connect . virgin are still the best by a mile if its installed right that is as some crap engineers give the company a bad name my advise stick with virgin 200 m out soon gonna blow bt out the water but that is good speeds for bt if your not in virgin area must admit

  • @22penners22 is that optic right to your house or to the cabinet then copper wire to the house like bt s is

  • They say i will get it on December 31st....yeah right, probably jan or even feb by the time i actually get it, and i know its free for me but does anyone think i will have more problems WITH the 40mb than if i just kept to the 8mb package?..I am on xbox live playing black-ops and other online games and thats the only reason im looking forward to the upgrade but seriously i just need to know if anyone else has experienced problems with high speed connections?, thanks in advance for any replies :)

  • @Deadlybrit i have no problems with mine and my speed doesnt show much decrease even during peak times :)

  • Hi everyone just a quick question, i have had the 8mb package for nearly 3 years now and was told by BT that the upgrade to the fibre optic broadband speed will be free, even though i have had no problems with the 8mb i was wondering if the 40mb will cause problems?...I ask because i know people that already have it and they say they have problems with such a high speed. I get nowhere near the 8mb and never have but it seems fine with 2 PC's a laptop and going on xbox live it all works fine.

  • I got 20 mbps virgin, Im getting 18.6 download and 0.13 upload no joke, I am switching to infinity purely for the upload speed.

  • @mbplove let me know if you get the upload you expected as i expect it may be different depending how far from the exchange u are thanks

  • @22penners22 its how far from the cabinet now with optic not the exchange , so everyone is really close

  • What was your initial quoted speed?

  • @RighteousRiaden 22.5 down

  • I get my Infinity in a few days. Trust me if Infinty made it to a town in N Ireland it will eventually get to the rest of mainland U.K.

  • I'm not impressed with infinity. I think I'll stick to Virgin

  • @MightyMaxist virgin isn't available to me so i think i'll stick with infinity :)

  • @3333gavin: I'm in Argyll, Scotland. Don't know if we're eligible for this, but BT's been doing an "Open reach" programme for a good few months now, so after this video I'll give them a shout. Cheers, mate!

  • @EddieTheFishReturns don't mention it am glad it helped you some what, a hope you get it soon :)

  • i cant believe u have infinity, i want it our house so bad, we have bt but only get 1.2mb

  • @APOC4LYPSEV8 thats what i used to get before infinity

  • @3333gavin its not fair, i need infinity, we have 6 people using the internet in our house, its impossible i cant get anything done

  • @APOC4LYPSEV8 when is infinity available in your area?

  • @3333gavin i have no idea, no way of knowing is there? coz our area is small probs gonna be a few years

  • @APOC4LYPSEV8 go on the bt website clcik on infinity and type your postcode in and they will tell you when it coming to your area :)

  • Can anyone tell me the actual download speed? I know it's a 40mbps connection, but how fast would you download say 100mb, surely not 3ish seconds?

Serious question, not very up to speed with downstream figures don't really understand them. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • @DarrenHuseyin1 watch the video it gives some examples as say how long a 800MB movie would take to download and they are accurate times :)

  • @DarrenHuseyin1 Again someone else confusing megabits and megabytes. A megabyte is one eighth of a megabit - so a 40 megabit per second download would = 5 megabytes per second.

  • @FutureComputing

Thanks for explaining this, but you've already explained it to me on 2 other videos 1 reply would have been enough...

  • @DarrenHuseyin1 you posted it on two videos 1 would have been enough.

    hypocrisy.

  • Getting this next friday. A bit lower than what was showed in the video because of my distance from my exchange, but they confirmed it will be 33mbps download and 7.8mbps upload. I CANNOT WAIT

  • @DarrenHuseyin1 welcome to the select few my friend :)

  • Your upload speed is faster than my speeds both combined, and im with BT lol, I wish I knew when Infinity will be coming to the towns of N Ire.

  • @xXCPDaBeastXx yeah weve got super slow internet here. i get 3meg :( at tops

  • getin mine in 22nd of nov, check wat speeds i will be gettin and its 40mb and 12.5upload :D i couldnt beleave my place in northern ireland was getin so happy

  • @ViipeRv1 12.5mbps upload? Wow that's even more than the max of 10mbps they advertise wonder how they did that!

  • @DarrenHuseyin1 i can get 12.5 upload but there is a 10mb cap

  • If you go google racetoinfnity click on the top BT link and you can vote to have Infinity in your area. They HAVE to eventually do it anyway to meet EU rules stating you will get around 30mbps everywhere but that's not for a few years yet I think. Wish I bloody had it, only got BT's kit in the exchange and a good copper line but stuck at 448k and 8meg!! How much does Infinity cost you a month?

  • @marksapollo 30 a month i think

  • @3333gavin Good price. I'd be happy to pay that for fibre BB.

  • @3333gavin swear its 17.99 lol got the booklet infront of me :P

  • @danish4044 i've checked, and mines 24.99 a month, i have option 2, so unlimited downloads, i am only 16 my mam foots the bill haha :P

  • @3333gavin i was calculating virgins medias 50mb broadband with 5mb upload will cost me £26.33 a month average with phone line inc (and quidco discounte 65pounds). so i might go for that instead as bt infinity is coming out in may in my area :(

  • BT Infinity useds copper from the BT cabinet to your home and fiber from the cabinet to the exchange lmao.

  • BT estimate me getting 36.6Mb download 8.2Mb upload.. ready on 31st december.... looks like i might be getting myself a late christmas present ;D

should i wait for virgin media 100mb??

  • check my vids for bt infinity also

  • Can i just ask what was your speed when you first got it, as i just had mine installed and im only getting around 20 meg, yet the engineer said i should be getting 40. my upload is over 8 meg though so im wondering if it needs to settle

  • @rob12841 mine started out like it was in the video maybe yours does need to settle?

  • @3333gavin plus virgin media @ 50mb dont cap ur speeds like bt doo which is fucking hell. because my current virgins medias 20mb gets caped:(. and i was reading bt also has fair useage policy so they cap speed aswell if you download too much, but with virgin medias 50mb broadband you are treated as vip and no caps at all so 50mb download 24/7 non stop :)

  • my speed is 0.05 download

    0.05 upload

  • @huzaifah666 how do you cope?

  • @3333gavin mines is 0.2 its sooo bad not fair

  • @3333gavin what???

  • Ive got BT Infinity, (I was on BT Total Broadband getting 1.5 to 2.5mb), they gave me an estimate of 15.2mb downstream, but in actual fact I got between 30-38mb downstream, and can get somewhere between 7 and 8.5mb upstream

  • 3333gavin if you think this is fast then you should move to Bournemouth and try out their 100mb fibre to the home service by Fibreband. Used it while I stayed there and downloaded something at 11mb/s haha.

  • @luanswan2002 we use what we have available, i don't plan to move house for a faster speed, this speed is more than enough for me atm but thanks for the comment me guesses...

  • @3333gavin Just got infinity installed check it, improving quality of my vids when i get auto focus!

  • shit thats fast i can only dream of getting that speed

  • I currently get 11-15 Mbps, living near the exchange, bt estimate 21 Mbps if I get infinity. Is it worth it? Or do they underestimate?

  • @kesterwww well i dont live near an exchange, mine is about a mile away, and i get this speed, my estimate was 22.5 and look what i get the lowest spped i get is 20mb and thats on wireless

  • @kesterwww With Infinity, its the distance to your Local Street Cabinet which is the limiting factor, NOT the distance to the exchange. Infinity will be worth it.

  • what type of speed would you get on wifi to a ps3?does it speed up wireless up as well?

  • @lacokakid look on my wireless speed test :) and yerp it does :D

  • only for the lucky few!! BT have a map of where the exchanges are planned for the upgrade. and guess what. majority of them are in and around london only a few outside. guess the person who plans where they deploy it is a southener.

5meg down 400kbps up absolute shite!!

  • wow thats amazing my estemate is 18.5mb and upload 8.30 i think which is cool since i only get 5.5 md download and 0.30 mb upload which is fail but yea i hope i get like atleast 35mb download or somet but if not ahwell 18 will do haha cant wait for this wont be available in my area till the end of december :(

  • What did the BT website estimate your BT infinity speed at? I'm meant to be getting it round my area and by the looks of it, I might just make the 15+meg minimum. But other houses are getting estimations of around 18meg and I'm told that they estimate about 10meg's lower than it's meant to be?

  • @BlackPheonix81 my estimated speed was 22.5 meg down and 5 meg up so yer a guess they do estimate about 10 lower than you will probably get, thanks for the comment :)

  • I really really wish BT would install fibre in my town. It's frustrating to have slow speeds. When my brother is downloading, it gets even worst. What I need is simple... BT Infinity that is.

  • @Gamerwillz its not full fibre optic its adsl+2 which is fibre optic from the exchange to the cabinet in your street then it joins to your existing copper wire to your house. in the future some homes where possible will get optic from cabinet into house with speeds up to 60/70meg . saying that some internet sites just don't run quick no matter what you have

  • How much do you pay a month?

  • @o0Te0zJTAG0o i pay £25 a month and this speed is actually quite slow for infinity, but it will do me my friend who lives a mile away gets around 90MB down

  • @3333gavin how the hell does your friend get 90MB the max is 40 isnt it?

  • @jameslaw42396 no, this is fiber and the max is 100mb, but with me living far from the server i get less but the closer you are to the server the less distance the connection is on copper wire so its faster

  • @3333gavin no its not, 40mb down 10mb up, or does he have a business connection or something?

  • @jameslaw42396 I have no idea, all i know is that he is with BT and gets 90MB down, so if the max you can get is 40MB then yer he must i guess???

  • @jameslaw42396 there 40mb is based on connections like mine where am about 2 miles from the server, my friend is about 100m away so thats where the speed comes from i guess

  • @3333gavin Is that just for internet or do you get Calls and tv? I have bt vision so calls and internet are included

  • @o0Te0zJTAG0o well my mam gets calls, so i guess its for internet and calls :)

  • Im able to order this on september the 31st. Cant wait. Im currently getting 6meg down and 0.90 up.

  • @rob12841 your the same as me although before this i was only getting 1.5meg down so yea its great :)
