Quick question: Why is it that people who don't want universal health care aren't also protesting and working to overturn tax-supported socialized fire care (our nation's fire fighters) tax-supported socialized police care (the cops), tax-supported socialized recreation centers (the national, state and local parks), tax-supported socialized book-lending institutions (the libraires), etc.
I agree that forcing Americans to buy health insurance would just be another gift to insurance companies. But a public option is definitely needed. That's the only thing that will keep the insurers "honest." And if the government is so incompetent, why are the insurance companies worried about government competition? And why did this bozo show up at a yacht club in his white lab coat? Was he afraid people wouldn't know he was a doctor without it? And did he forget his stethoscope? What an ass.
universal Single payer is the way to go. Set prices doctors and hospitals can charge. Rationing is being done now, it's call preexisting conditions. United health group profits jumped 155% from last year, 859 million dollars with less people enrolled. That's like firing half your work force and making them work twice as hard.
Yeah, God knows we shouldn't fix the present healthcare system. Tell that to all the people (my own family included) who spend a hideosly large portion of our income on overexpensive policies with high deductables and co-pays, and many specialists "out of network". And that's after going to an assigned risk pool because of getting rejected for prior condition. You may be doing fine, doctor...but we aren't.
Riviera's a tool full of bullsnot rhetoric who should go back to his office and charge 10x what his service is worth, as usual. He's ignoring a mountain of data and evidence that his industry is in cahoots with big insurance and big pharm to rip us all off more and more and more every year while providing less and less service. Other countries can pull off health care for all, and there's no valid reason the U.S. of A. can't do it as well, except for greedy tools like this standing in the way.
David- you are RIGHT ON with your accurate information, and interpretation of the proposed 'universal healthcare system'. I'm passing this on to your family in up here in NYS!!
Hey Dr Nick Riviera - why in the world are you wearing your white coat - did you just run out of emergency surgery or something? Anyhow, regurgitating these Luntz talking points at the local yacht club is quite telling - perhaps your fears might be a little self serving?
A man riddled by greed and selfishness.
