I actually just heard on Prairie Home companion, from the writer, that he wrote it for a female friend who wholeheartedly devoted herself to a new philosophy every 2 weeks - that she was "a searcher."

My wife and I went to a Storyhill concert when she was seven months pregnant with our first daughter. For the first year of her life this was the only song guaranteed to soothe her on a long car ride. Beautiful, guys - can't wait to see you in concert again.
