  • Make a very crude analogy here when thoughts become more like farts just a little pressure that one feels that quickly passes through the body and is released in a slight eruption one has arrived. We all know that a fart trapped somewhere in ones digestive tract will cause belly aches and all kinds of abdominal distress. I always THOUGHT the end of the digestive tract and rectum are the most intelligent part of body.

  • nothing is anything

  • @NlHILIST are you pondering the Heart Sutra?

  • "Things are created in the mind, but only nature itself is reality"

Is that not itself a thing?

  • No, 'things' have boundaries, and are limited by what they are not.

Nature has no boundaries, and can not be limited by something that is not itself, because any 'something' one can find, is itself just nature.

  • But that is itself yet another idea that is yet another abstraction of another thing.

    Nature is making assertions.

  • marsbarz, you might find it worth while

to read, a little further about this.

You are confusing yourself with symantic.

Being sceptical, is not a fault, until it becomes an impediment, to new discovery.

Your words, are 'things created in the

mind', if you can break through, you will

    experience something very remarkable.

You are partially right about conceptionization, it is a survival tool,

but if you allow the 'intellectual mind' to

take over, you'll miss the bigger picture.

  • i disagree. there is utility in conceptualization. the mind conceptualizes as a means to attain survival. for example we have to define the difference between "food" and "not food."

experiencing reality directly without interpretation, though a refreshing change to a mind that is deeply immersed in conceptuality, still serves its rightful purpose.

  • furthermore the danger of the mind attempting to go beyond the mind- to liberate itself from the very thought systems which ensure its continuted survival, is an exercise which can easily lead many people astray.

  • @marsbarz Kind of like a personality annihilation Robert Pirsig style.

  • Thought can be very useful, as you say, for a huge number of things, like distinguishing food from non-food, and so on.

"No-thought" can also be very useful for those aspects of life where thinking causes problems, like the suffering that occurs when you don't want to be where you are or when you don't want to feel what you feel or when your thoughts drive you bonkers and keep you awake all night. Or cause depression, anxiety, etc.

  • Waking up from the dream of thought (Zen) gives a person the freedom to move back and forth, as required by the situation.

Sometimes you say, "I really need to think about this and get this figured out."

Other times you say, "That's just my mind making up thoughts, and I'd probably be better off right now experiencing life directly."

  • I agree wholeheartedly.

  • you are the universe?

  • Zen meditations turned the speaker on this video into a soulless robot.

  • Croscream- Do you have a soul?

  • soul as being no.

    soul as essence yes.

  • Croscream- The soul of essence. This essence, can you attempt to describe it?

  • yes

  • It is our common habits and our common mind.

  • So If You drop your common habits and watch your common mind(as oppose to being it) Then Its possible to lose your soul? Or is your essence that which is prior to conditioning, ever-present, ever-fresh,ever-new without pausing or repeating, only this moment of being in its naked presence? You can't lose that. There is no ending,no beginning."Forget about spirituality, forget about enlightment, forget about you as well, what remains? That which can't be gotten rid of remains."Mooji

  • So can you lose your soul?

  • So if i just mindlessly say yes and no, and you mindlessly ask question we have said something? Why would a Catholic try to think and speak like a Zen Buddhist? "I think you must have a coxcomb for a crown, because you crow like a cock." Shakespeare

  • "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so." Shakespeare

There are neither zen buddhists or catholics but ignorance makes it so.

What is the difference between a buddhist and a non buddhist? A non Buddhist thinks there is a difference.

You say you possess a soul in essence. Can you lose this soul and who owns it?

  • you are just throwing around abstractions without any meaningfull relationship. Your questions about the human soul are meaningless, because you see no meaning in the question. So i can say both yes and no because yes and no have no meaning apart or together with the question and the discussions before use. Besides when shakespeare says that IS needs A, he does not say that IS is meaningless because A does not exist outside of the humanmind. Are you sure that is Zen? Sounds Cartesian.

  • "You see yourself as a purpose-seeking creature, but realize that there is no purpose for the existence of such a creature.Your aim is to preserve and perpetuate yourself, but in the larger context of the universe there is no reason, no purpose for this aim. You no longer find yourself identified with this absurd mechanism of purposeless purpose. Therefor the sage puts himself behind. Is it not because he does not live for himself that he realizes himself?" Alan Watts

  • The quest for an answer(question) appears to have meaning/significance. The answer definitley does not have any meaning. The questions about this human soul(concept) is to laugh at whatever response comes.

  • Hot milk hurts my lips.

  • The dead they sleep a long, long sleep; The dead they rest, and their rest is deep; The dead have peace, but the living weep. -Samuel Hoffenstein

Keep crying about your lips. Who is it who crys? Who is the one who dwells inside?

"There is no cloud inside a cloud, there is no tree inside a tree, there is no man inside a man." -Mooji

    Who's lips? Who are you?

  • Gentle are the sheep that play in the field.

  • The sun of the first day Put the question To the new manifestation of life- Who are you? There was no answer. Years passed by. The last sun of the last day Uttered the question on the shore of the western sea In the hush of evening- Who are you? No answer came again. WHO ARE YOU
  • Negroes are animals and should be murdered when found raping white woman.

  • There is no murdering. There is no life with its opposite death. There is simply this, any attempt to describe it would be limiting. All going on of itself. Just look. Do nothing at all and just look.

All the knowledge, all the stories of rape and suffering, all the limiting classifications of negroes, white women, and animals. Before knowledge you are. Who is that? Who are you in your naked presence?

  • "Out beyond ideas of right doing and wrong doing there is a field. I will meet you there." -Rumi

Come play in my field croscream. The gentle sheep won't bite.

  • Your teacher mooji is a filthy nigger. He has a nose like an ape. How old where you when he started that vicious cycle of raping and loving you? 8? 10? 30? I bet he is raping a little boy right now. Don't you think? You should report him to the police. Don't you think?

  • The messenger holds no significance.Kill Mooji. Kill Christ. Kill Buddha (all of them that never existed, or did- whose to say). When you worship a figment of your imagination with your 'personal God', this is batty. When you donate money to a church or a mosque, Can you buy God, This is madness. Have fun confessing(sucking your priests dick) all you have to do is say no.

  • Now i have made you speak out the truth of your heart and pulled you nearer too salvation. You speak the truth of the heart! Change it into something better or burn in hell!!

  • Thank you croscream you are a true boddhisatva bringing me closer to my own personal salvation...(cough, cough) The freedom is there to express whatever comes. The 'truth of your heart' are not ideas expressed, and can't change.

"Things are always changing, so nothing can be yours." -Shunryu Suzuki

I consider no thing that comes to be the 'The truth of my heart'. The 'Truth of my heart' can't be expressed. Honestly It can't be known. There is no one there to know it. Tell me about hell.

  • Fireworks fall down on this earth.

  • "In somewhat the same way, a newspaper photograph is a representation of a natural scene in terms of a fine screen of dots. But as the actual scene is not a lot of dots, so the real world is not in fact a lot of things or "thinks"." -Alan Watts

So knowledge is the content of thought, of a system of symbols which make up an approximate representation of reality.

Have you ever stared up into the vastness of space on a clear night, awestruck by the absolute stillness of inconceivable infinity?

  • No, i have not.

  • Do you have a future in heaven?

  • I smell raw meat.

  • The body is always alive. It is always awake. Then who is the one who falls asleep at night? The body does not sleep. Who is the executive in control? Why abandon freedom for a ghost story? Who are you croscream?

  • I dreamed of shakespeare.

  • You dream you own a life.

  • I am awake

  • In what you are, It does not say I am awake. The "thing" that says that is a phantom. The ghost story continues.

  • i like ghost stories.

  • "The misunderstanding of religeous ideas is vividly illustrated in what men have made the doctrine of immortality, heaven, and hell. Its doctrines have to do, not with the future and the everlasting, but with the present and the eternal. They are not a set of beliefs and hopes but, on the contrary, a set of graphic Symbols about present experience." -Alan Watts

What do you think of that?

  • nothing

  • "As long as you do not know how to die and come to life again, you are but a sorry traveler on this dark earth." Goethe

    and that?

  • what?

  • chicken butt

  • yeah.. i'd like to try this, my poor old mind needs a break, television made me what i am, and i am not satisfied with my conclusions. thanks for the message.

  • jakbqwic- You say my mind. Who is the owner of your mind?
