...it is one thing to hear this work on one of M. Cavaillé-Coll's instruments. To hear it with such clarity (and if I am correct no "shuttered" division) is remarkable. It just shows that the basic concepts of organ design can transcend any period of composition.

Tante grazie! Interpretazione meravigliosa, nonostante ch'è un brano romantico eseguito ad un organo barocco. I ricordi di questo repertorio sugli grandi organi barocchi olandesi nonostante della mancanza del suono originale del organaro Cavaillé-Coll sono più migliori che quelli (terribili!) eseguite agli strumenti neobarocchi tedeschi degli anni sessanta/settanta!

Ottima esecuzione, molto musicale. Sono d'accordo sulla preminenza della musica sullo strumento in quanto mezzo per restituirla. Credo che l'importante sia essere consapevoli di ciò che si sta facendo (e Imbruno mi sembra proprio lo sia...).

I really enjoy Widor, the organ, and the organists interpretation, as well as the nice acoustics of the church.

I am always crazy for Widor´s toccata..........

Secondo me invece questa interpretazione, su questo organo, è altrettanto possente e maestosa. L'importante è la sensibilità e il talento dell'artista, che qui ha saputo rendere omaggio a Widor. Complimenti!

Vastly superior registration compared to the Daniel Roth rendition. The instrument as well as the performance remains crisp even in the tutti passages. Bravo!

bella esecuzione, tecnicamente pregevole, e su un organo meccanico così non è facile: anche la scelta dei registri non è male, ma secondo me l'organo, seppur fantastico, non è il massimo per Widor. Manca quella timbrica calda, inconfondibile , del Cavaillè Coll di St. Sulpice ( vedi esecuzione di Daniel Roth).

L'organo è più adatto per Buxtehude o Bach.

I agree that Imbruno conveys the sense of depth and majesty in this piece, but to say that its better than Roth and Latry is pushing things a bit I think! For one thing the registration is a bit lacklustre here in comparision.

Played very nicely at the tempo Widor suggested, rather than some of the 100kph performaces some organists use to ruin this truley grand piece. I have been doing a lot of fishing around listening to different versions of this piece and this is the nicest I have heard to date!!!!!! Rock on Fella!!!!!!!!
