  • FWD , 1.6L , 5-speed , Alloy

  • Good video

  • I first had a 1300 L, then a GTE.was a bit long in the tooth by the time i got it. Had the floor welded, and it was good as gold for two years. Body was getting really tatty, so traded it for a Corolla GTi 16. A great car too, but still miss the GTE.

  • The lady in the advert is my mothers cousin I remember this ad so many times as I child

  • Front wheel drive... ZOMG IT'S THE BEST THING EVER!

  • Anyone else notice the nice friendly high pitched hum in the background??

  • These are VERY rare cars nowadays, at least they are here in Ireland.

Only ever see them at classic car shows now.

  • 80s were the time to own a Vauxhall.. The Mk1s came in some great colours.. I went to look at a purple SR back in the early 90s, so rusty though. Held off and scored myself a Mk2 SR, red ,1 owner - C497 DUU.. Crashed it twice and ruined it.. Got it jigged and sold it for more than i bought it for though.. What a twat! If i could go back i'd do it all differently.. Virtually all gone now :-(

  • 'And they be saying' .....whay a pratt

  • Good 'ole vauxhall astra 1. Easy to steal, often seen on fire in milton keynes after being handbrake turned & donutted in reverse untill the front tyres burst.

  • My grandma had one! An '84! First car I ever rode in. Pity about the rust.

  • I have a 1.3 SR from 1980.

    It has 75 HP

  • i had a black opel 1.6sr with the gte,s rear lower spoiler. it was only 90bhp but it looked great and could keep up from a standing start with the peugeot gti 1.6. very rare ,only ever saw other coloured sr ,s. best car ive ever owned and when i sold it5 years later i only lost a grand on it. and that was with 150,000 miles on the clock.

  • what a greteast car:(...in that time the cars was not so sufocated with electrical stuffs...that cars was so....mecanic...great

  • I miss these mk ones, especially the GTE. I think they had the 1800 SOHC engine that gave 115BHP. Most mk one GTEs I saw were in white. When the mk one Nova came out in 1983, alot of the features look as if they were borrowed from the mk one Astra. I love these old Vauxhalls, but can't stand the new stuff. These old cars reach their demise through theft or rust.

  • Nice car - my dad had a mk1 estate

  • I farted on the back seat of one of these, circa 1984.

  • Looks like an overweight Nova.

  • a chubby nova as my mate likes to call them

  • i had a mk1 sr till a silly bitch ran into the back of it and wrote it off . where have they all gone i haven,t seen one for years.

  • I had a Mk1 GTi. Very nice car, very quick too, great handling (probably better than a modern one). But to correct kazimann, they did have quite a bit of electronics, Bosch Jetronic EFI for one thing, but it was utterly reliable. Only problem I had with mine was breaking the cambelt which took all the valves and cam followers with it. That and slamming it into the back of a Montego Estate while gawping at the cars on the Wyedean :(

  • I mean GTE of course, not GTi.

  • I was about to mention :DDDD No Opel lover says GTi.. We cant say that.. leave that to Vw lovers :P OPEL 4 LIFE!!

  • Hell yeah! GSI beats GTI for sure ;)

  • They may not be the best looking cars ever made, but at least it doesnt look like every other new car that comes out. Oh yeah and if any part of it breaks it wont cost a forture to repair. Love my mk1 astra

  • The great thing about these cars was that they were so easy to work on. No fancy electronic shite in them back then

  • So's your mum

  • rofl! good one

  • what a sad video!! pure cheese!!!!!!!!!!!!
