Is it safe to keep a heat lamp on a plastic wrap cage top? Or is it safe to keep a heat lamp on whatever your using on your tank? ( I forgot what the stuff was called, hehe :)

@Bee5productions The only problems that arise from doing this are the siran wrap melting, in which case I simply replace the siran wrap.

How do you manage to keep your sand at sand castle consistency? :( mine dries up fairly quickly even though I mist it twice a day...

Spray at the sand, then all around the cage. Also once a week add water to your sand....

@Bee5productions If you keep the tank properly, then there is no need for regular spraying.

@Lyssaera If you kept the tank properly covered with siran wrap or glass, you would not have had this problem in the first place. I have found that I hardly ever need to spray when I keep the tank properly.

@TheHermitcrab101 I have said it once and I will say it a million times....CALCI-SAND IS A TERRIBLE SUBSTRATE TO USE FOR HERMIT CRABS!!!!! IT IS NOT ONLY OVER PRICED, IT IS USELESS WHEN CREATING THE CORRECT MOIST SUBSTRATE NECESSARY FOR HERMIT CRABS!!!! NEVER EVER EVER USE THIS STUFF!!!!

my painted shell is awsome and it works fine i had my hermit crab for like 6-7 monthes and he is still fine

Painted shells are horrible! Not only are they tacky and awful to look at, but the methods with which they put the poor crabs into those painted shells is just awful.

They gas the poor hermit crab until it is limp enough to be removed from its natural shell, then they stuff it into the new disgusting painted one. Many hermit crabs die during this process. They also stick them in the freezer to do this too.

I ADVOCATE THAT YOU USE NATURAL SHELLS ONLY FOR THE SAKE OF THE CRAB!!!!!

Oh? I have used calci-sand and it has not only failed to absorb the water correctly, but has indeed clumped and hardened after drying out.

you a dumb ass you have to have coc o bedding for some of them its called ecoblock i think other wise they will that is only some kinds of crabs however so you must ask whever your buying from

i just got a humidity gauge today what should be the temp it read 91 degrees after a while and i turned it off and the humidity was 31% what should that me

the only thing i dont have now is a bigger tank we are trying to get a used cheap 1 i got this sand stuff from walmrt its all grainy but il try getn it wet if it dosnt can i get moon sand we got a warming light bulb and a clip on light thing for cars for cheaper but the cord causes cancer but im still gonna use it were did u get ur sand i dont think walmart has it we got a humidifier whatever thing kinda cheap cant set it or anything they r still oin painted shells but we bought em regular 1 s

You didn't mention the need for shelters, and you need a bit more climbing toys. I don't think your tank is a 29 gallon, mine is a 29 gallon. You can see it on my channel

I was once a member of the forum you go on but now I use Hermit Crab Paradise. I like it alot more!
