After doing some research on the subject it would have to be dry-ice(frozen CO2) at an earth like atmospheric pressure. The air there is suppose to be mostly carbon dioxide but the size of the planet is smaller and the atmosphere is suppose to be less substantial as well. In my view either way the "facts" still do not add up.

I don't think the travel time is exactly a problem. People during the age of sail took journeys on ships lasting months or even years, with absolutely no way of contacting home. Just because there's water doesn't mean there IS/WAS human life on Mars. And this 'ice' could be something we don't know. Not everything in the whole of the galaxy is on Earth. I do believe there is another life out there but it's not what people make it out to be.

After doing some research on the subject it would have to be dry-ice(frozen CO2) at an earth like atmospheric pressure. The air there is suppose to be mostly carbon dioxide but the size of the planet is smaller and the atmosphere is suppose to be less substantial as well. In my view either way the "facts" still do not add up.

We've known that there's ice on Mars for a long time. The caps at the poles are seasonal and have been observed for over a hundred years. The question was always what was the ice made from? Water? Ammonia? Methane? Or religious beliefs that have been discarded because they didn't seem like such a good idea anymore?

There is layer in Venuses atmosphere where the atmospheric pressure and temperature are quite Earth-like. And since carbon dioxide is denser then the nitrogen/oxygen mix we call air, air is a lifting gas. Imagine ,a balloon where you could live in the whole balloon, not just a small gondola. In fact, this layer is the most habitable place in the known universe besides Earth.

Very nice, but the thin atmosphere means your being pummelled by radiation, and we still don't know the long term effects of low gravity. Could a mother even come to term in such conditions? Venus has .8 Earths gravity, and, at the right layer, surprisingly habitable. One thing it lacks is water. Which Mars has.

I don't think the travel time is exactly a problem. People during the age of sail took journeys on ships lasting months or even years, with absolutely no way of contacting home. Even from Jupiter, an email would only take a few hours to reach Earth. These future pioneers will have it darn lucky in that way at least.

Scramjets are impractical, because for them to work you need to be moving at several times the speed of sound for them to kick in. This means a lot of dead weight from whatever you use to accelerate that fast. Also, the engineering challenges are rather difficult in and of themselves, becauseo the immesne heat and pressure they and the airframe itself is subjected to. I don't think there is any evidence of life-forms that are THAT technologically advanced on mars yet, to have buildings. Even if there is a possibility of some type of small animals that once lived there, MANY people would be deeply moved.
You can look at google-mars, they took satellite photographs of the entire planet. And the public has full access to it. They aren't "Hiding" anything from us, because there is nothing to hide.

Now providing this is accurate and there is ice there is a potential of setting up of world stations in the future. Ice will be the source of fuel.. or Hydrogen..
