  • I removed the agitator that barely moved the transmission appears to be ok and moves when I peut back together the agitator moves freely and barely moves when I remove the door magnet and fill the tub and it is suppose to staert to agitate is this the coupling beginning to go

  • this was so helpful in diagnosing my problem, thanks!!!

  • where is the motor coupler? we had ours replaced a long time ago(back before I fixed stuff) and I have always wondered were it was on the machine.

  • thanks very informative.

  • How much does it cost to hire someone to fix this? I just hired someone, it cost me $200, it tookh him almost an hour.

  • @666mathew It's a 20 minute job,I would have fixed you up for less than half of that!

  • I Changed the drive brake cam on my Kenmore 110.24692300 washing machine. But now, once I closed everything back up, I can't manually spin the agitator. I think the agitator is suposed to spin clockwise when off. But I can't. Help!

  • thank you so much for this vid ....I just had my washing machine go out last night !! and this is exactly what happened ...you have saved me so much money by being able to buy a part instead of giving a repairman my pay check to fix it !! Thank You so very very much !! ....Cyn :O)

  • so is the coupler the belt that makes it spin or do I have to go out and buy a new motor?

  • @cre8tivity06 The coupler is the direct-drive mechanism that is attached to the motor to turn the agitator and tub. My 1995 Kenmore had to have the coupler replaced just after just 4 years in 1999. It ran well until it was about to go again in 2010, and I bought a Samsung.

  • @cre8tivity06 the coupler is what transfers motor power to the washer mechanism, if the coupler is broken or worn the machine will neither agitate nor spin. The thing about the coupler is that it's pretty much designed to be a weak link; if something were to bind up the agitator (say, tangled clothes) the motor is powerful enough to destroy the tranmission. therefore, the coupler is designed to be weak enough to sacrifice itself to save the rest of the machine.

  • very informative thanks

  • Thank you for this informational video!

Now I just need to buy a new coupler and install it.
