  • I hate cigarette smoke in my face buddy! Go ahead and poke your face in another place buddy!

  • The message is crack.

  • Fuck the flow, the mssg behind its beautiful. Grouch is a mad poet, very smart man! Fuck u haters who talk about his flow when ur intelect is 1\100th of his. Its his own flow, hes doing hiphop not maken her. Get shit straight!

Ev, zion, grouch ur some of the most gifted artists to live, everyone heres a song and just listens. Me personally i disect music, analyze every little peice and place my self in their state of mind and picture the beauty. So much sampling goes into real hiphop. Its such

  • love my kicks, event thou this song is going deeper than that

  • grouch has the best beats, and this isn't about shoes.

  • i love intellect. i love hip hop. i love when they mesh :P

  • you know why so many people cant appreciate this? they dont wanna think. am i the only one who thinks thats wack? damn. the grouch, eligh, all the living legends, zion i, gift of gab, all this mainstream rap sounds like garbage. but thats what we get for being so vain. "at what point was this okay? i gotta ask myself, let me retrace my steps, will i surpass myself? or am i destined to be lazy, cause honestly lately, i really just don't amaze me"

  • lyrics are sick and and message is there, but he cant flow for shit, his voice is awkward and has no melody.

  • he has his own flow thats what it beautiful about it

  • @mizzdeelight you little good music rook..

  • hey, to all you guys who listen to mainstream, this aint really about shoes. listen deeply. think deeply. be open minded.

  • I had a pair of Blazers in black/white leather and black on black freshones though...not the 6.0 sb's. CLEAN

  • man people who dislike videos such as this are just plain fucking stupid.

  • Why don't you people realize this isn't about shoes?

  • Fuck Nike

  • 22 People have holes in their sneakers which the point of the video slipped through.

  • he reminds me of Walther White from Breaking Bad

  • Fuck Nike...Just kill it

  • not a bad tune but asics is wear its at!

  • I like his voice, but his flow does not appeal to me much, yet the content is nice for hip hopping. Very intellectual and sensual... something my children need very much.

  • why is the sound quality so good?

  • i need this beat..

  • Perfect song, driving around the city on a rainy day haha.

Check out my page for some Hip Hop by artists from Seattle and VA!!

  • y0utUBeH8r-stfu fagget, this is "real hip hop quality"

    if you knew...kid

  • FOR REAL, i suggest Jay Electronica: The pledge

  • Beats weakkkk.

  • man this shit is sooooo smooth rap is better these days when you listen to this... i heard this guy 5 years ago.. man good shit

  • yeah songs deep, its just not just about kicks, yall need do listen sm more

  • @PeriferiaSud90

Cosign. Wasted opportunities, regrets, realizing your priorities are out of wack... growing the hell up, hindsight. Among other things. Kinda dislike the ending; doesn't quite feel like it fits on a downtempo cut like that. But overall, the meaning's in the message, and you don't gotta be a bookworm to hear the truth.

  • Check out this dope ass 21 yr old Mexican foo from cali! No chicano rap! He's dope as fuck just search "Dope One TCF" or "NaFuKnoProductions"

  • your sound on here is like shit make it nice n reupload it bitch!@

  • Wowww.......Im Speechless.

  • verse before the beat change is some deep relatable shit , Even talking about something as simple as kicks can relate to alot of things in life and a persons/humans way of thinking or living.

  • hes talking about taking things for granted

  • i had no idea what i was cliking on, this guy is fuckin tight

  • i bet later you wont feed it like my puppy an leave it in the gutter for some other to he's lucky.

  • He;s talking about a gun for those who don't know listen to what he say in the beginning "You hold it high like a trophy and start targeting" Pretty sure i cant target someone with my nikes lol

  • and i aint atlkin bout sneakers either....

  • i like nikes

  • dude sounds like hes biting dmx style

  • @mr3000ts DMX? Are your ears broken?

  • @claytonic87 he doesnt sound like that dmx

he sounds like the dmx from the dmx from slippin

  • @mr3000ts hahhaha, ya man, you must have broken ears, runnin around yelling "WAAAAAAAT" at people aggressivly all dmx style

  • @gavinmacmounsey he sound like the old dmx listen to slippin or some track from its dark and hell is hot, that dmx

  • @mr3000ts aight man, i`ll check it out, anything is possible.

i just think of the DMX i have seen on tv, and how utterly ignorant, violent, and materialistic that is, and how far it is from what grouch is saying, and how he`s saying it.

  • @mr3000ts wow, that might be the dumbest comment I have ever read on youtube.

  • sometimes I can't live it, but I can word it. tiiiight.

  • this song is epic

  • HE'S TALKIN ABOUT A SOUL YOU DOWN SYNDROME MONGOLOID RETARDS

  • @KillaKwizz nice soul :)

  • mayne this cat is the truth

  • dope they filmed it right by my pad...

    in Griffith Park..

  • 18 people scuffed em up hella bad

  • The shoes are like your life. You have to remember to clean them up and appreciate them. Keep your thoughts clean like the shoes.

  • Deep lyrics, Steady flow. Never been so blown away by an artist before.

"When your mind is in a whirlwind, you better remember to stop."

  • now i'm just mean to em.... damn so true... soo good !

  • people do go for the "shiny" things in life and take it for granted

  • @lovingmommyandwife if they're still rapping real shit like this then they aren't selling out they are just trying to do what every rapper is trying to do, get famous. But people just don't listen to lyrics these days it's all about the repetitive beats and chorus's. It's too bad.

  • dope beat.

  • Check out Learn for Your Life new flow

  • much better than that Soulja Boy bullshit

  • this is like symbolism

  • Damn I'm glad peeps still bump the LL Crew, Intellectual Hip Hop for the conscious minded...

  • when your mind gets in a whirlwind you better remember to stop and smell the roses in between dozing cause with every breathe upon this planet youre one of the chosen.........

  • I remember I was watching this with the homies years ago and some dumb ass bitch was all, "he's rapping about nikes!" and started snickering. I just wanted to slap her face

  • sample @ 4:06-4:09

  • whit rapp sucks....

  • @Nebuncugerean Sorry the intellect is too much for ya buddy. You can have your lil' waynes and Drakes. We'll gladly give em to ya.

  • My 6.0s are scuffed up hella bad kinda like those.

  • THIS SONG IS NOT ABOUT SHOES. listen to the lyrics before writing a dumb comment about nike sweatshops...

  • @THEREALSIDGUY "and i aint talking bout sneakers neither"

this is rap for smart people. some people dont get it!

  • man this is the good shit! back when the grouch was killin shit on the underground tip. Sad to say he kinda sold out a bit, but he's still dope as hell.

  • @eLLD3 no way dude.... he's just as good if not better...he really puts himself out there. you can tell that he has evolved spiritually and had a shift in consciousness. he used to be more like," fuck the bull shit..or the DUMB" but I think that he has grown past that, working on SELF. still clean as fuck and delivers with solid production. PEACE

  • idk, this beat is alright, from a producers stand point of view, this beat sounds like a beginner producers first track, alot of the timing is off, the second half of the song is dope. They have a unique selection of instrumentals. One of the things that i believe deters people from underground hip hop, is the use of instrumentals. Heres a question, if all the underground hip hop cats all became famous and were on the radio, would you still listen to them? or would you call them sell outs?

  • @lovingmommyandwife as long as the beats are all off beat and different and odd and wild and not stagnant dull boring or symmetrical and as long as the lyrics are upbeat and positive with just a touch of anarchy id listen to them.... im a nature boy i love plants trees the sky wind water animals all more than i love my fellow man.

  • @hickstylez humans are part of nature too fyi...

  • depends what happens to the rhymes. Look at Black Eyed Peas for example, they are actually good rappers and the first two albums were pretty good, defiantly wortha listen. now they just make floor fillers no longer thought fillers.

  • @linsi879 FUNNY THING IS U SHOULD ACTUALLY GET ALL THERE CDS.. i thought the same thing tilll i got the cds.. the 4 songs from the radio and mtv suck but the beats and lyrics to all the other songs are still mad legit and original... get original!

  • @lovingmommyandwife Several answers: No bc I don't listen to the radio. lol. If grouch were on the radio with these songs then yes, but will the radio ever put out such positive hiphop? prob not. Sell out refers more to what the artist that acts a certain way to make a chunk$. As true as grouch is that will not happen. btw this cat is famous.

  • This song is far from about just keeping a pair of shoes clean. It has subtle undertones, a deeper meaning than cant be readily perceived. Thats why I love it*

  • Aight...I love this kinda muzik...it;s different and it's by a white rapper!

  • what is The grouch's ethnicity, i am jus curious

  • fuck nike and their sweatshops

  • this beat gives goosebumps!

  • how he connects nikes to so many other things; grouch's music can be seen in so many different ways. genius

  • This is Grouch's real style of music... Classic

  • thug beat and sounds

  • I'd have to say this is one of those "hidden gems" on youtube for sure man. Philosophically accurate and lyrically prefect. Thanks for the upload legends and the thanks for the insight Grouch.

    respect.

  • somehow i said to myself the first time that this song is whack...but i keep coming back to it...???? maybe subconsciously i like it

  • damn wish the quality was better...

    thanks anyway

  • @Cybergig00 Then post a better copy instead of being a little ass.

  • @cbaines your the one being a punk bitch...i still said "thanks anyway" at the end of my comment...meaning i enjoy'd the video/song, but just WISHED the quality was better. Don't be to quick to be an E-thug Num nuts, betta put your nikes on when you see me in real life, cause you'll need it slut.

  • @Cybergig00 I'm no punk bitch. I didn't insult your person for who you are but what you said. I don't see the point of complaining about a video if you like it. What's the point of complaining? I'm no thug, either. But that doesn't mean I can't fight. If you have actions, act. Talk is cheap. Sure, maybe calling you a little ass was a bit much. But it bugs me immensely when I have to go through comments of people complaining or talking down on an artist. I get tired of that shit, for sure. peace

  • @cbaines well no one was talking down on the artist (how can anyone hate the grouch :P ) , but what you say is fair enough. I'll try to find a cleaner version & upload it..lol.

  • Nike's are overpriced

  • holy fuck hahaha i can relate to this shit especially the first verse

  • i hate the mainstreem solja boy crap. ps i don't care if i spelled it wrong so do diss my spellin

  • happy IVXX :)

  • this is my song man!. the best analogy to life!

  • Man the Grouch Always just makes everything Chill

  • easily one of the greatest shits of all time

  • this is definitely better than that mainstreem bullshit

  • @purefcs my nigga any thing that is underground is better then that mainstream bullshit look up mf doom

  • @purefcs Haha true.

  • @purefcs FUCK YES DOG.

  • Grouch reminds me of the skater Mark Johnson.

  • @Crisleyva1 dude i said that like 7 years ago lol

  • that vans song has nothing on this. i know this isnt really about shoes, its about how things always change, every thing has an end even shoes. so appreciate what you have before its gone like good hip-hop. thats what i got out of it as well as the grouch hates smoke in his face buddy. and that vans song is just crap. i dont even know why i brought it up

  • @jkaf8

"...thats what i got out of it as well as the grouch hates smoke in his face buddy. "

    Shit had me laughing buddy.

  • One of my all time favorite songs.

  • nasty beat ooheee

  • yup yup... let a producer tell ya watcha wanna listen to and whats good or not...jajaja thats what mainstream is

  • Its funny how people think he is actually talking about his shoes, people really have no idea of lyrics and there meaning.

  • @aderuno what does he mean then?

  • @mm1k3y he's talking about hiphop.

  • @aderuno then what do the lyrics really mean then?

  • His lyrics are so clean and he's hot as fuck

  • i love you, song. :)

  • Who are you to tell us what this song is about? And who's ideas are main stream and who's arent? No one knows exactly where a person's personal metaphors come from, and sometimes not even them.. Alot of metaphors are created from subconscience thoughts as well. Suck on that for a minute before you pass judgement.

  • legit, fuck mainstream shit

  • All you guys are lames for actually thinking hes talking about his sneakers. You guys obviously don't know a thing about the grouch or any of Legendarys Music. Their music has meaning and purpose in every line they spit, ESPECIALLY the Grouch. Hes the most inspiring and deepest artist I've seen. And for the people that think hes talking about sneakers, You guys are obviously mainstream, because you guys are too blind too see the purpose behind this song. Go smoke a blunt then listen.

  • at the end it says "and i aint talking about sneakers either" so these fools who dont know about Grouch need to fucking die. seriously, this is one of his deepest songs shoes is a metaphor for his life, friends, and happiness. he says "seen so many waste away what they had it makes me mad, but they never know til its too late to appreciate and be glad" listen well next time

  • You should go tell him.....you are a big success musical artist, right?

  • man you should succcck a dick

  • Skip to around 1:25. Hes metaphorically speaking about how people are ungratefull for the friends and family they have. Hes talking about how people that walk all over their friends, and end up losing them in the end, then they realize what they lost so they try and get them back. Hes also talking about how people take life for granted and just throw away what they got like its nothing. Of course hes talking about how people throw away friendships. Just listen to the lyrics and understand.

  • could it be a metaphor for how one treats relationships/others?

  • no... i think it's about new nikes...

    which makes it perfect.

  • although, shoes have been known in as a metaphor for the self.

    "seen as a reflection it's a super-clean resurrection "

so he might be talking about himself in a way.

  • @arivel09 he aint talking about sneakers either,

  • @JeromeBakerSmoke nope. it ain't no meta 4. i wrote this one and sold it to him for free. it's about one of my nike's that got stuck in the river when i almost died. this morning i cried. yesterday i lied.
