In the extremely unlikely event that I become bishop of rochester, I will clean house, restore the Cathedral and all other historic churches, forbid Versus Populum and altar babes and swimming pools and Allen organs. Every church would have a Communion rail and high altar. I would also close any ugly modern churches built in the 1960s or later and have them demolished.
May God's wrath be poured out on bishop clark for this and many unforgivable crimes! I love the organ though. Why can't it be in a transcept or the rear gallery? The only thing that can be said in defense of this piece of dried kindling wood of a bishop is that he didn't get an allen "organ" like my church has.
having grown up across the river at St. Michael's Church, I always thought little of this ugly Cathedral church. Everyone has an opinion. To me, they really improved the place... left the ceiling as is: ugly.
Keep up the good fight! Pray for the restoration of the church. I've seen the before and afters of your Cathedral and it is so sick and sad. I've shown them to people who don't attend church any longer and one said, "What were they thinking?!!! That looks like a giant crypt!" Barren. Some have suggested certain pastors are doing this fast so no one can ask for the Latin Mass in their parish.
A disastrous "renovation." In addition, I find it interesting that a organ has gained prominence over the Altar of Sacrifice. Lastly, I'm sorry Fr. Vosko, but this type of sanctuary design is not what Vatican II called for nor ever intended.
Obviously this kind of destruction makes no logical sense. Nor is the result beautiful or an improvement. While faith should NOT be dependent upon a building or architectural beauty, this is done to destroy what faith ppl have.
Those who do this have no faith nor a clue of how to manifest the Gospel.
Thus they busy themselves with bricks & mortar. Not much has changed in the last millenia.....
Well put! Seeing the folks of the "Cathedral Community" I would say that you are right. Their faith is generally lacking, and the few that have it are very discouraged.
