  • what is this shit! Awful music with nothing going on, Talk talk were overrated pile of dung, and this shoegazing, self loathing tripe is even worse!

  • @ReturnFire121 it appears that you may have some sort of brain damage. for that i'm sorry. now off you go...troll someplace else.

  • Mark Hollis' album is one of the truest singer-songwriter albums out there!

  • Thanks for the upload!!!!! I have no money to buy the record. But thanks to you I get to hear it.

  • Incredible. What is it you're tapping into, Mark? Thank you.

  • This record is unique and is today the featured LP on BBC6 Music's "Freak Zone". Fascinating, and the fact he never recorded again since adds to the intrigue.

  • I mean rhe whole album....

  • calms me down nothing ever can....

  • Awesome indeed. How did I live all these years without noticing his genius? Thanks for including lyrics, SilverBuddha.

  • Awesome record, last great decade in music, the 90's. coincidence he stopped recording right when napster came out probably. but also coincindently thats when most of the cool music dried up too.

  • @bettergameplay lies, lies, lies. quit dismissing the unknown, or stop being lazy. whatever curse befell you, shed off your old skin and look HARDER

  • silver buddha, do you know when we could listen the new hollies? i'm a fan absolute.

  • @nicopaugam Only Mr. Hollis himself knows, I think. Consensus seems to be that he has retired from the music industry and is a full time family man. Sad to say.

  • @SilverBuddha Retired or not, Mark Hollis made one of the essential contemporary music albums. When an all-inclusive 20th Century History of Music is finally written, Mark Hollis would have to be there. The towering quality of this album´s achievement has won it a snug place alongside Phillp Glass´Glassworks, Gorecki´s 3rd Symphony or Keith Jarrett´s Koln Concert.

  • @SilverBuddha

theres no such thing as a family man, when its like this...I dont believe that he has stopped writing...it would be a shame..

  • Everything has already been said. Like many, Mark and Talk Talk have been part of my musical life from the beginning. The music Mark produced is like a best friend... always there when you need it most.

  • this album still haunts me...years after its release.. there is nothing else out there that can touch its raw, improvised beauty ... this album is a force of nature :-)

  • When was this put out?

  • @ladyfuschia 1998. And he ain't been heard from since.

  • I am a composer, trained (BFA, MFA) and Mark Hollis is one of my favorite musicians/composers I've heard. I have analyzed this album through and through and would love - I mean really love, to see the scores for his work. The time signatures, the orchestration, all of it - how did he write this down and make it happen? How did the later Talk Talk albums do it? There have to be scores or notes or something out there. I would deeply appreciate any information on this! Thank you.

  • This is so awesome.

  • became one of my five or six *utterly* favourite albums seconds after the first song - 'the colour of spring' - started... and that was even before his voice kicked in!

  • Troppo bello, troppo bello.

  • where is Mark Hollis and where does he live now!

  • In the late 90s I was living in Deptford south London. This music is part of the soundtrack of that time for me. So evocative then and now. And Talk Talk's 1988 Spirit of Eden was the spirit of ecstasy. It accompanied so much bliss.

  • CAPOLAVORO,IMMENSO MARK

  • da ascoltare con il valvolare, lo merita davvero questo sound.

  • oh mama, che bello...

  • its about time mark hollis/talk were awarded into the rock n roll music hall of fame.

  • what? i do not understand you...please don´t talk about mark hollis. he is a genius, ok?

  • A must of sensibility.

  • One of my favorite albuns ever. Thank you for this video, :-) Silvana

  • The picture shows a Sicilian traditional Easter bread or cake, it's the Easter Lamb.

His tender, gentle and a little strange expression is tragically moving and inspiringly creative for your imagination.

  • @lorienforest Found this Mark Hollis quote from an interview he did in 1998: "It is the lamb of God, made of bread. On Sicily at easter there is a festival for which they make these breads. I like the way something appears to come out of his head, it makes me think of a fountain of ideas. Also the manner how the eyes are positioned fascinates me. When I saw the picture for the first time I had to laugh, but there's something very tragic about it at the same time."

  • what is it from the picture.?

  • Great great song. Probably one of the 'livelier' tracks.

  • pure genius,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • MAGNIFIQUE !...

L'album de Mark Hollis (1998) est excellent.

A écouter : les 2 derniers Talk Talk:

Spirit of eden (1988) et Laughing stock(1991).

    Amicalement..... (Belgique)

  • A song asale

For the good has bled to dust

    Departed

    The morning sun.

  • Are you kidding me? Comon Mark keep it going!!!

  • que pasó con mark hollis?desaparecio?dejó la musica?

  • Mark is a genius...and as many genius is totally underated...

  • well someone must know where the fuck he is?

  • I think he's taken up pole vaulting?

  • I walked past him in Wimbledon Village once, he could aford to live there for sure.

  • Essentially the crown atop the entire Talk Talk era. The 80's wont come again, and the 90's shouldnt come again I guess.

  • One of my all time favourite albums , been playing it regularly since it's release. Any news out there on what he's up to and the likely hood of a follow up?

  • The last I heard, Hollis retired from making music altogether.

  • very relaxing song

  • Mark Hollis is unquestionably one of the finest composer/performers to come out of the UK - ever. Totally overlooked and under-rated except by a few.

Unforgettable for some. An extraordinary artist in every meaning of the word. RolloKohime

  • @RolloKohime He is probably one of the finest, most visionary singer/songwriter ever. Certainly in my top ten best.

  • @RolloKohime << He's a musician's musician and highly regarded and respected by a great many of them. :)

  • Genius !

  • was this his first solo album? iread a review of it some years ago in a german mag and they said it was really good. forgot the name of it. is this it? what make is the bike?

  • His first and only, sad to say. What bike?

  • Followed his career from the start. An under rated genius. Probably will be appreciated many years from now. Such a shame, eh !

  • magnificent

  • This whole album is incredibly good. Mark Hollis is superb in every respect.

  • @M0RN1N65TAR Agreed. I wish he'd record again, but it seems unlikely. This is one of my favourite albums ever.

  • Very good, I must say...
