Why would they hurt and be mean to the Badger? It wasn't doing anything. Instead of jabbing it out, they could have called animal control and have it put in a cage then set into the wild!
look how many ppl it took for this pathetic excuse of an animal rescue. i would put money on it if they had simply spoken nice and coaxed it with food it would have done whatever they had wanted it to do. badgers are one of the most bad ass animals on the planet, but the ones in n america are pretty well mannered, belive it or not
Fear not toddklassy, the downtown Milwaukee post office backs on a river and a whole interconnected set of waterways and wetlands that lead right into Lake Michigan. I am sure that's where the badger came from in the first place.
There is also some excellent fishing down there. Currently the wisdom is: spawn sacks for trout under the Hoan Bridge. Once last week there was a guy down there with a Coleman stove and a frying pan. Dude could cook some fish, too.
They let it go on the streets of Milwaukee??? Huh? Where were the animal control officers? Shouldn't they have trapped it and taken it out into the country somewhere?
I don't care what anybody says, our state critter is CUTE! Not cute enough to actually approach, let alone hug or love or name George, but cute just the same. The amazing thing is, this downtown Milwaukee Post Office actually had an EAGLE get in once!!!

Not one of these guys has a tazer or billyclub? They just let supper run right out the door. Badger makes a fine meal when prepared well.

They couldn't really cage it and take it away - it could have been a female with kits in a burrow nearby - you can read more about it at JSOnline

I didn't think that badgers were actually native to WI, but according to the state DNR, they are.

I don't think I've ever seen a wild badger, and I've lived my entire life in WI/MN. Craziness.
