This might just be the most emotional bit of music i have ever heard. Just so so sad and happy at the same time. When I hear this now its like hearing Jeff from up in the heavens communicating through the phone singing his beautiful heart out. :)
What hits me in this recording is the PASSION he puts in this spontaneous interpretation! As soon as he was asked to sing or play something, he was ALWAYS ready! As soon as it was about music, he was there with the most genuine enthusiasm. This is one more element we can put on the mountain of recordings and anecdotes that prove that this guy was Music on two legs!
Ok so I heard this a 100 times plus and still never fails to evoke the such an over whelming sense of lose for such a rare talent.
It sends an emotional jitter down ones spine listening to that song ( "that's cool man") such a giving down to earth guy, what a lose indeed.
Hope the big guy in the sky is looking after you dude. Maybe one day I can meet you and the many others like you up there at 'the great gig in the sky'
Wow was he at Woodstock '69 with a lot of long curly hair? A tall slender beautiful man hanging near the stage he was relaxed without a care. Jeff sat high on the towers looking down at us the crowd he had the best view from up there. I think so dynamic singer songwriter departed to young. We miss you Jeff Buckley your music lives on. Jeff you are forever young. Kauaicr07
@kauaicr07 That was probably Jeff's father Tim Buckley - another amazing talent who died too young - Google a photo of Tim with Andy Warhol and Janis Joplin at Woodstock in case it helps clarify your memory.
This is MUSIC... Tell all those little computer-based little pricks that beauty is somewhere else... Wonderful little gifted boy, you're filling my heart with joy!
Like many people, I've known Jeff Buckley exclusively from his beautiful (but tragically overplayed) "Hallelujah." I tried listening to the album "Grace," but it didn't hit me.
Jeff, oh jeff, I feel like I lost a close family member, I miss him soo much, to feel this way about someone I never met, actually never even was aware of when he was alive. Maybe that's just as well, I seriously don't know how I would have dealt with the grief of his passing, I just can't believe he's gone! he had so much vibrancy about him, such magnetism, don't get me wrong, I'm a happy person, it's just when it comes to this angel of a man, can't get enough! LOVE TO HIS MOTHER MARY GUIBERT

This brings me to tears...as if we are listening to an answering machine recording found after a loved one has passed on. Oh, how I wish I could go back in time and space and save Jeff from the water.
this is absolutely amazing to me. over the phone, rough quality, but still has that "goodness" (for lack of a better word, greatness probably fits better). Makes me think of old blues records and how the soulful quality was still captured
WoW!, he was so encompassing, inviting, embracing, too bad he no longer embraces this life anymore. IF, he was still here, i don't think we'd be as nearly as into his music, as we are now. Sad, he was a (semi)tortured soul.
Do you have any idea what you're going to type before you do, or do you just wing it and hope that whatever words you say may, by the grace of God, be based in some miniscule semblance of truth or validity? He died by accident.
oh my god... absolutely captivating!! god damn it I wish he was still here! it makes it even sadder the fact that he was totally sober when he died, just a freak accident :-(
Has this ever happened before?Asking from someone to sing while being accompanied by music on the other side of the wire?Only Jeff could be so easy going with everything as long as it was music involved.Oh Jeff! When shall I be released from your spell, really?(always in tears)

sounds so disarmingly fragile through the phone... Makes me realise a GREAT voice doesn't (didn't) need a thousand-dollar microphone.....sigh....
think there can't be a "next best thing" to ever make us forget about the truth in his voice
