Of course it was God! Not the fact that Haiti is actually sitting on a fault line making it extremely prone to earthquakes.. pfft! You heard old man Pat, it was a deal with the Devil it was!
I'm an atheist, so I don't beleive in Satan or God.
...but after watching this vile monster sit in his cozy studio and blame trapped and dying Haitian women and children in rubble for their own circumstance, I now am reconsidering my stance that there is no Satan.
I think he walks among us, and is a geezerly southern redneck with no IQ and a heart made of slime.

What a fucking moron. Napoleon III came to power in 1848 and the Haitian Revolution ended in 1803....oh, and spouting bullshit about a pact with the Devil...yeah, I'm sure he's right on that point as well ;)
@srichards335 Well, here is the problem, he speaks for a hell of allot of you. And even if he does not, there is still the problem of the bible, and the god it portrays as being one vindicitive son of a bitch. I don't see any christians openly protesting his actions and working to bring the mans glass tower to the ground. So until you fucks grow a spine, and work hard to get rid of people like pat, you are all supporting him. May you die in a fire, and soon.
No sort of divine being would ever want or wish the misery caused by any natural disaster on any living thing at all. If Pat is just repeating a folkloric tale and "things are taken out of context"..fine but it seriously sounds like he's suggesting Haiti was cursed and deserved what they got.
I was reading just now that the US military is preventing Doctors Without Borders medical airlifts from reaching Haiti. It's down to childishness: the military gives assurances the plane can land, the relief agency fuels the plane and flies it to Haiti, and then the military tells them they can't land. This has happened five times.
This doesn't tell me who has made a pact with the devil, but it does tell me who is the devil.
you are right on points A and B. but on point C. you are wrong. The devil exists and Pat Robertson is his agent. Here's how I know this. 1. Pat is a multimillionaire judging a people that he has never known.
2. Pat only got that money by preaching for hire, something the bible explicitly condemns.
3. Pat believes that he is always right and only the Devil would make a person believe they are always right.
just take the bible's challenge and judge pat by the fruit of his works. hmmmm lets see:
1. Pat's prophecies that have gone unfullfilled.
2. Pat got his own and every other AMERICAN based congregation's missionaries kicked out of Venezuela by unlawfully calling for the assassination of Venezuela's dictator. Thereby slowing the work of evangelizing Venezuela and aiding and abetting the work of the devil in Venzuela.
True. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if Pat was the Devil himself. Slowly turning susceptible people into his minions, people who will blindly follow whatever he says. At least we still have enough sanity to realize how truly retarded some people can be.
Apparently if you are "Christian" and are on TV you get immunity from being thrown into an insane asylum. Sad, very sad. Because if pat really believes that these people made a pact with the Devil, and that the Devil can just pop up and be like "OK! It's a deal!", and that now they are cursed, he really should be on some serious medication.
Robertson is a sick, twisted, old man with some very perverted ideas about Christianity. I think he'll be surprised that GOD IS NOT ON HIS SIDE when his judgement day comes. For whatever good he's done in his life, he's done far more damage with ignorant attitudes and hurtful comments over the years.
@8illmatic3@1993Kittens This is also the guy that said, "That if South Africa allowed a One man one vote system it would lead to the South Africans taking over Europe, The Middle East, Israel, and America and WILL lead to an apocalyptic race war." Look it up on Google.com .

Pat is not saying that the Haitians are cursed. He is stating a historical reference to a pact between the Haitians and voodoo (voodoo is a sign of the devil). It is ironic that nothing happened to the Dominican Republic, which is on the same island as Haiti.
yo, deadsilence... Pat doesn't know what he's talking about, EVER. If he knew history, he would know Haiti became independent from Napoleon the 1st, not the 3rd. there is no irony in that the capital city of the poorest country in its hemisphere was hardest hit by this earthquake. What little infrastructure the city had before is completely gone now. Please, have some compassion for your fellow man (unless you are a less evolved species) and kindly STFU!!!
I can tell by your writing you are not a genius.Your vulgarity says something about your character. I didn't say I wasn't compassionate for my fellow man. For you to assume anything about my compassion shows your stupidity. Your implication that Pat is not compassionate is unbelievable. His ministry is donating to their relief. I'm not part of his ministry, however I don't like to see people maligned by our bleeding heart liberals and people like you who hear what you want to hear.
"Kate Ramsey, a Caribbean scholar at the University of Miami, says that the "pact to the devil" that evangelical Christian Pat Robertson suggested led to Tuesday's earthquake is a 19th century "fabrication" meant to discredit its slave rebellion and Voodoo religion."
He was repeating a folklore, be it true or not. Pat is just telling a story and everyone, like you, are taking it out of context. And at this stage of the game, with everything said and done, who really cares what he said anyway?
No. Your friend Pat, as you call him, is not saying "there's a legend about..." or anything that suggests he is just "telling a story". His language clearly shows he believes what he is saying. He even says "It's (a) true story" at 0:23 without a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
A short documented compilation of some of the idiotic things that your friend has said that are comparable to the "Haitian pact with the devil" can be found here:
Who cares? Two kinds of people: The thousands (millions?) of devoted Christians who see him as a role model and trust him.
And all those (like me) who feel that his outrageous commentaries harm the image of real Christians, and may even prompt some of his most radical and intolerant followers to act violently against those Robertson dislikes.
What "Pat" says matters because millions of gullible religious fanatics believe in him.
Obviously you think you know what you are talking about Pat being a religious fanatic. He has been around for years and he does help people with his ministry. I for one am not part of his ministry, but I am trying to state to the ignorant people like you, who only hear what you want to hear. And as for me saying who cares, that was not a statement referring to Pat Robertson's followers. It was meant for the stupidity of going back and forth with these comments of yours.
I never said "Pat" was a religious fanatic. I said that thousands (or millions) of his followers are. I did say he's gullible. And you say that I am the one who hears what I want to hear? It's evident that would be you, my friend. I don't doubt "Pat" has helped many people through his ministry. But he also does a lot of harm when he says things like the ones in this video and the other examples I pointed to. He harms the image of Christianity and of the USA and he fuels hatred and prejudice.
And I'm not surprised that you are tired of our back and forth comments because it is starting to dawn to you that you have been defending the indefensible, and that has to be frustrating. You first called Robertson's comment it a "historical reference", which is false. You said that it was "ironic that nothing happened to the Dominican Republic", ignoring that Port-au-Prince is 160 miles away from Santo Domingo, (the distance between NYC and Baltimore).
You then tried to make a 180 turn and say that "Pat" was just telling us a folkloric tale but that's obviously not what the video shows.
If you want to underscore the good things that Robertson has done, go ahead. But don't try to justify him when he says stupid and dangerous things like he does in this video. And don't try to pretend that that's not what you have been doing, because the truth is just above these words, in black and white.
Pat Robertson needs to try and explain this tragedy to his followers. Religion is a way of the past and the Internet is another way that this will 'come to light' eventually. People just need to believe in themselves and their fellow man. Do what is right and ignore Pat Robertson's hatred. No human man deserves this horrific catastrophe. Right now the people of Haiti need our help through donations to a reputable charity like the Red Cross, Salvation Army, etc. Believe in yourself.
If we treat this as a "trial" which is what most people have done we must take into consideration what this statement he made was based on. That is where he is coming from.
All I'm saying is that political correctness has outrun peoples ability to reason.
If one revisits the promises and sweet music pumped out by Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, Koresh, Jim Jones, Applewhite etc. all they gave was death wickeness in action, Pat's actions are not wicked. That ministry helps in every disaster.
We all have to understand or question wether there is any validity to Satan and if people can make a pact with him!
And help these people in the way we choose.
Kill ole Pat and alot of supplies would not get to people in need.
Say what you like that club does help . I don't send them money and believe there are errors there but just because someone has a strong opinion is no reason to destroy them.
What are their actions!? Do they deprive people, molest people , plan destruction of people???
I'd like to take a whip to his pasty, white trash, Reicht Wing rear. This dirtbag knows nothing of God. He's a hypocrite and tool of Satan. He should kill himself to make the world a better place.
You have to make up your own mind but please search the scriptures. No every natural disaster is not God's judgement. As for Haiti, Robinson, and all other hot buttons try to think objectively. If you look at scripture it does call for God's judgement on sinners, that's not me, nor Pat.
It's up to every individual to decide.
Pat did not make this up, he is expressing his view of what he has read in scripture, you on the other hand may think whatever you like. You are free.
i'm not angry or confused.. I do believe in a Higher Power just not the Christian/Catholic one. I am brought up catholic, but not super religious (though i went to a catholic high school). I learned then my beliefs.
I believe there is a god, but the one shown in the Catholic faith is riddled with hypocrisy and hate. Just from these comments alone you can see the hate. I can easily pull up proof of the Elitism that is Catholicism.
I also get alot of my questions answer from facts.. Science
OOOw spent 8 years in a Catholic school, was an alter boy saying mass. I wanted to know if there was "A" truth. Something simple. That's why I hit it so hard. This I know, one's own beliefs are arrived at through search. It all depends on what one searches for. If our mind is already made up we simply justify what we want to know.
I did not find my faith in Christ by looking for it .
Catholicism is bondage, the pope, nuns, priests , confession etc. What a game.
i'm not smashing your beliefs (well i kind of am when i say that there IS hypocrisy and there IS hatred), but generally, i see it as "to each his own".. However i must say, it is Insane thinking that haitians prayed to the devil so they DESERVE this?? no one deserves this. Which is exactly what he [pat robertson] is saying and people are actually agreeing with.
@punkasfuck1337 DO you even know what Elitism is? Its someone like this, that only they are right. Like the Catholic religion: If you dont believe it to the fine print, your going to hell. The hatred is in the teachings.. not the masses... as for my proof, it is right here. The old bastard in the video claiming that the Haitians are being cursed for praying to the devil, the comments on here saying that Islam is a violent religion where Catholicism is THE peaceful one
@punkasfuck1337 oh also, you said yourself that the bible is full of hate. so why do i need facts if we both agree on that? (if you further proof, look up teachings on Homosexuality for starters) but then, its not all the church.. its the followers who blow an Elitist idea WAAY out of proportion.
Incredible, simply incredible.. now it is proven that there is in fact no god, because if there was one, it would send this sorry excuse for a human straight to hell, so he knows not to drill his STUPID thoughts into the people of america and the world.. I laugh at his followers because they are as ignorant and dumb as the westboro baptist church, because of their words, they are slowly turning the sane people of today, into the paranoid fucks of tomorrow...
To some degree this is historically correct; although not to the devil. A revolutionary army of slaves made a pact with a vodoun spirit to help them fight for their freedom from their slave masters.
Thus it is IMPOSSIBLE that they cursed themselves and to say they did is in a sense a support of slavery. They did nothing but liberate themselves and rightly so. Pat needs to go get a history and anthropology degree and quit spouting off his evil old mouth
So let's all try and make them suffer more by shoving some chirstian bs down there throats. "here's a sack of food and a bible, better read it before you get more". These twats take doing something good for someone and destroy with fear and lies.
@yowmc2000 You might want to read up on the Haitian revolution and how this "pact to the devil" crap is vague propaganda and there is absolutely no documentation to support some pact was ever made. Also born again friend, you need to read the bible more thoroughly as God nor Satan will help win wars if you pray for him to, history and teachings has taught this again and again, refer to the Dark Ages and the Crusades and now recent wars. Pat is freaking crazy.
You must be under some strange spell if you believe his words and '...did not see nothing wrong in this statement' condemning a race to death because they made a pact with the devil is ignorant and anti-christian. He's preaching hatred to his viewers. This talk would of been taken as the truth back in the 1900s but not nowadays.
It is quite clear that you who disagree with this know nothing about Christ, the Bible and judgement.
You are free to have your opinions but do get educated on this subject. You are speaking out of political correctness as you and all your mates want to be seen as compassionate.
In the Bible Christ came to die for sin. Few people accept this and that is clear as well but in the end look at the book of Matthew and Peter for just 2 references on judgement.
I respect your opinion. In the geological community, the Haiti earthquake tragedy wasn't a surprise to many. Earthquakes happen, and will continue to happen - it's a physical reality of this dimension.
@TR5T the only thing clear to me is that people like Pat Roberson are the ones that don't know Christ and His true message of Compassion and Love. I don't know you but my God don't punish people.
For believers in Jesus, all our sin past, present and future has already been punished on the cross. As Christians, we will never be punished for sin. That was done once for all. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Because of the sacrifice of Christ, God sees only the righteousness of Christ when He looks at us. Our sin has been nailed to the cross with Jesus, and we will never be punished for it.
Is he for real????!!!That is a very offensive statement. How could he be so insensitve at this time? People are suffering, and dying on the streets. Nothing to drink or eat. A country is in ruins, devasted beyond belief and and he took the time instead to blame? Family members are scared and lost because they don't know if their relatives in Haiti are dead or alive. He should be a source of comfort, and hope and peace at this time.
I won't defend everything Robertson has ever said. In fact I think he has said some rather foolish things in the past, but there is at least a kernel of truth to what he is saying here. I've known people who have lived in Haiti and they will tell you how great the powers of darkness reign there. Voodoo is a very common practice there, and even Catholic priests double as witchdoctors. If I told of the stories I have heard from there most wouldn't believe them. Satan is real, but Jesus reigns!
I just read how the people of Haiti turned to Voodoo to defeat the French. Whether this is true or not, it is obvious that Haiti is under curses. Haiti has Hurricane destruction, an earthquake and HIV/AIDS to go with their poverty. The truth is evident whether Pat Robertson comments or not. Haiti was also involved in making slaves Zombies in the slave trade. Before slaves were brought from the islands, they were taken to Haiti to be made Zombies. Watch the movie "Serpent and the Rainbow."
Wherever you have enormous poverty you will have darkness. Wherever you have enormous poverty you will have gangs. It has nothing to do with voodoo or curses. Remember Pat said that the world would end by 1982? Also, he said that we would experience a nuclear attack in 2007? He hasn't hit correct on very many of his predictions?
This man is gross and has been a hater as long as he has been in he religion business. He won't change. But what's with the young puppet-woman nodding and agreeing with him? Is there hope for her, or will we see her thirty years from now, still nodding and saying "mmm" while watching haters rant?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
as a latino with many friends from haiti we would agree and understand what pat is speaking of and we thank him and the many Christians that have been helping Haiti for more than 40 years, more than any other group of people around the world.
"And they got together and swore a pact to the Devil, they said 'We will serve you, if you get us free from the French'. True story."

And don't try to pretend that that's not what you have been doing, because the truth is just above these words, in black and white.
Strodie567 2 years ago

Ariels,
You have to make up your own mind but please search the scriptures.
You are free.

you do realize that the bible isnt proof of any kind, right? to you of faith it may show a sign of this. But it holds no evidence in.. reality.
BASSunlimited 2 years ago 3
Yes I am aware. Please don't think I was born believing the Bible.
I went from sex drugs and rocknroll MC5, to London the occult, martial arts yoga and the lot.
For me it all came to one place and that is where I am.
It wasn't bad acid or a bump on the head.
I sought truth, it happened to come the hard way.
I know how it feels to have my faith challenged. If you don't see what I do in the Bible you are free to have that opinion.
If you truly read it there should be questions, anger, confusion.
TR5T 2 years ago
i'm not angry or confused..
Science
BASSunlimited 2 years ago
OOOw spent 8 years in a Catholic school, was an alter boy saying mass. I wanted to know if there was "A" truth. Something simple. That's why I hit it so hard. This I know, one's own beliefs are arrived at through search. It all depends on what one searches for. If our mind is already made up we simply justify what we want to know.
I did not find my faith in Christ by looking for it .
Catholicism is bondage, the pope, nuns, priests , confession etc. What a game.
TR5T 2 years ago
i'm not smashing your beliefs (well i kind of am when i say that there IS hypocrisy and there IS hatred), but generally, i see it as "to each his own"..

BASSunlimited 2 years ago
@punkasfuck1337 oh also, you said yourself that the bible is full of hate. so why do i need facts if we both agree on that? (if you further proof, look up teachings on Homosexuality for starters) but then, its not all the church.. its the followers who blow an Elitist idea WAAY out of proportion.

@TR5T He's talking shit, period.

Incredible, simply incredible.. now it is proven that there is in fact no god, because if there was one, it would send this sorry excuse for a human straight to hell, so he knows not to drill his STUPID thoughts into the people of america and the world.. I laugh at his followers because they are as ignorant and dumb as the westboro baptist church, because of their words, they are slowly turning the sane people of today, into the paranoid fucks of tomorrow...
flashfire99 2 years ago 3

These twats take doing something good for someone and destroy with fear and lies.

yowmc2000 2 years ago

Funny thing. when I was 15
I swore to the devil I would wreak havoc on mankind in his name if he gave dragonball z powers...
Guess what?
It didn't fucking happen because the devil and god don't fucking exist.

Then make your judgement.
TR5T 2 years ago
I respect your opinion. In the geological community, the Haiti earthquake tragedy wasn't a surprise to many. Earthquakes happen, and will continue to happen - it's a physical reality of this dimension.
SoOutThere 2 years ago
@TR5T the only thing clear to me is that people like Pat Roberson are the ones that don't know Christ and His true message of Compassion and Love. I don't know you but my God don't punish people.
ariels36 2 years ago
For believers in Jesus, all our sin past, present and future has already been punished on the cross. As Christians, we will never be punished for sin. That was done once for all. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Because of the sacrifice of Christ, God sees only the righteousness of Christ when He looks at us. Our sin has been nailed to the cross with Jesus, and we will never be punished for it.
ariels36 2 years ago
@TR5T few people accept that... other than.. you know, the fact that is one of the largest religions in the world.
BASSunlimited 2 years ago
Dear Ariels,
I'm afraid there may be a conflict between your beliefs and that of what God's word says.
There is judgement and punishment all through His word, especially now which is post crucifixion, resurrection.
Yes the redeemed are forgiven but not all are redeemed.
We must have discernment.
The entire book of Revelation as well as the few chapters in Matthew lay out quite clearly the God will judge and does punish.
I wish it was not so, it is not me nor us who enact this.

SHAME ON PAT ROBERTSON!!
Sunsetlime 2 years ago 4
I won't defend everything Robertson has ever said. In fact I think he has said some rather foolish things in the past, but there is at least a kernel of truth to what he is saying here. I've known people who have lived in Haiti and they will tell you how great the powers of darkness reign there. Voodoo is a very common practice there, and even Catholic priests double as witchdoctors. If I told of the stories I have heard from there most wouldn't believe them. Satan is real, but Jesus reigns!
cdoc77 2 years ago
I just read how the people of Haiti turned to Voodoo to defeat the French. Whether this is true or not, it is obvious that Haiti is under curses. Haiti has Hurricane destruction, an earthquake and HIV/AIDS to go with their poverty. The truth is evident whether Pat Robertson comments or not. Haiti was also involved in making slaves Zombies in the slave trade. Before slaves were brought from the islands, they were taken to Haiti to be made Zombies. Watch the movie "Serpent and the Rainbow."
BenLuvsUTUBE 2 years ago
