The founding fathers all had a conception of the role of government that was vastly more limited than what we accept today. If they were to come back to us they would undoubtedly be in favor of eliminating 90% or more of the functions of all levels of modern government. In that way they were very libertarian. In other ways though their attitudes were not so similar to that of modern libertarians.

The founding fathers all had a conception of the role of government that was vastly more limited than what we accept today. If they were to come back to us they would undoubtedly be in favor of eliminating 90% or more of the functions of all levels of modern government. In that way they were very libertarian. In other ways though their attitudes were not so similar to that of modern libertarians.

Jimmy Carter was actually a great example of this; he was a born again southern baptist christian, but realized that his faith had no place in his capacity as president. He dealt equally with all members of society and all foreign leaders who may have believed far differently from him in terms of religion. He also understood the that the best (possibly the only) redeeming feature of his faith was to try and bring peace and prosperity to the US and the rest of the world.He was a great president

Sex isn't like war and drugs. Assuming no one has a STDs then sex wouldn't be dangerous assuming there is no coercion and rape.

Two particular political parties have been campaigning for gay marriage to be instituted in this country for years but it keeps getting overturned.
