i realy wanting a bass , i was thinking of getting either Squier by Fender Affinity Series P Bass or Squier by Fender Affinity Series J Bass. , are they both good?

They're fine but personally I'd rather an Ibanez... I do own a Squire P - Bass as well. They are alright, I started on it.

P Bass if you want to pop and slap more. I like them both, but if you want to experiment with natural bass plucking with your fingers AND pop 'n' slapping it, then go for the P Bass.

the red is 50 bucks cheaper than the sunburst.

it sounds awesome. this is the mexican made one, the american one is like double the price

Guitars with solid-color opaque finishes are always less expensive than sunburst and other translucent finishes because they can use a less attractive and therefor less costly piece of wood if you can't see the wood through the finish. On the Epihone Les Pauls we have in the store the difference is $100! A good way to save money if your heart isn't set on the sunburst.
