Have you ever heard of a group called the Irish Breakdown?

My dad used to listen to them all the time and they sang The Shores of the (can;t rmember), Ranzo Way!, Roll, Alabama, Roll, The Irish Rover, and a ton others...

I can't find the cassett and also haven't been able to find them on line...and my heart was sad till I heard your lovely versions!

    Peace,

    Amelia

  • and you are the nocest person. thanks!

  • Great

  • haha that;s nice! what software did you use for this??

  • thanks! I used Final Cut Express. It was my first time trying it. We all recorded our parts separately, with no reference to each other, except for the general guide I gave in the "request for collaboration" video. In other words, we didnt sync up with each other or a lead track. I didnt want to limit people's interpretations by asking them to match too much. so I did my best to sink us artificially afterwards.

  • clever

  • LOL, Brilliant. Well done all.

  • Are you even British, cause you did a song about Liverpool...

    Yay or Nay?

  • I'm not British, thank God.

    *kidding*

  • what a great idea! thanks for the entertainment :)

  • haha i'd forgotten about this i sound like a boy...

well done it's so buzzy! i like how it progressively gets more and more mad. dressing up as a pirate tomorrow for a party so amped now hehehe yay.

  • when you least expect...SNEAK ATTACK!!!

yep, sorry about making you sound more boy-ish-- it was that whole pitch-matching issue. if it makes you feel any better, listen to how girl-ish (and Leprechaun-ish) I sound on the "tie to the taffrail" line!!

BTW I like how that tapa cloth behind you kinda matches Raymond's shirt. Also, your hat matched Pyromancia's hat, and I wore a similar hat, to make a common theme :)

  • Hey, hult, no critisism, this time. I loved this, in fact, it is added to my favorites. Just one thing. The verse when you"Put him to bed with the Captain's daughter" The last line i learned was "You ain't scene the Captains daughter" What an image!! I'm going to watch the rest, now. So, if you'll excuse me...=Stefan=

  • Thank you very much, Stefan. As you know, one can improvise and add whatever lyrics one wants in chanteys. However, on this one, since I think the traditional lyrics have gotten a little botched over time, I wanted to hold fast to the "originals"!

  • Hey, hult, heres a verse, a bit more modern. And what we did, yes even too me. "Put im on on watch on the evaporators". The evaps, water distillation plant, was in the hottest place in the fire room. I spent many a watch at that billet. Until I made engine room suprvisor. Than I was master!!! The Captain could not come down without my permission!!!I miss those days. Steam all the way!! =Stefan=

  • Very nice verse! thanks for sharing that. If you've any others, dont hesitate to share.

  • Haha, that was excellent!

I'm just realizing now how high I sing XD

Excellent editing, and excellent singing by everyone!

  • big up yu self!!

no, you didnt sing that high :) If you think about it, youre at the same pitch as everybody else. it's just that I had to 1) slow down the speed of the clip (which made your voice lower than normal) then 2) raise up the pitch again to match..and by that time it sounds artificially "high" like a chipmunks tone. same deal with some of my vocals, like the "scuppers" verse, ha ha

  • :)

    very nicely done!

  • I tried to put your contribution at a sort of "tide changing" part...when the piece starts to "jump the shark"! (insert more sea analogies here)

  • This is just incredible.

  • Thanks, man. appreciate that

  • Oh, and nice job on the time warping, it sounded fine. :-)

  • I thought the trolls gave an especially poignant performance. :-)

  • Second only to your Siamese twin!

  • wow a very nice collaboration

  • Thanks, it was fun to do. Everyone has great spirit and heart.

  • Great to see the finished product, Ranzo. Thanks for putting together this fascinating collaboration on the well-known shanty.

  • Thanks for your incredible musicianship.
