  • Magnífica banda! Quem viveu e curtiu essa banda nos anos 80 sabe o que sente!

    Verdadeiro sentido gótico...

  • Great song, and I love how some of the lyrics are about the King Arthur/Excalibur myth.

  • que gran grupo de lo mejor del rock gotico los fui a ver en uruguay alla por fines delos 80 al cilindro tenia 12 años y no me querian dejar entrar. nunca los olvidare

  • The frontman is Wayne Hussey. The Mission UK was formed after the breakup of the original Sisters of Mercy group. Eldritch continued with various iterations of the Sisters.

  • i know this voice....Andrew Eldritch? nice song anyways.

  • Esta banda formo parte de mi adolescencia y este tema de los mejores sin duda, fueron muy buenos en un tiempo, luego perdieron el horizonte, pero les guardo un cariño especial!!

  • def in my top ten of all songs

  • One of the best rockband ever...

  • this is on my playlist forever.......

  • curto esta banda mais de vinte anos,RECOMENDO é isso ai

  • Brother, sister, give me, give me, deliverance, deliver me!!!

    Greaaaaaaat times!!!

  • WTF?!?!? This was on VH1?

  • хде HD?

  • What a tune!

  • Many thanks for the song sheet aswell.

  • Best song The mission ever released. Total knock out.

  • When ever I hear this song I think of being a child. Actually this band is one of my strongest childhood memories XD love this song!

  • These old school Goth/Darkwave/Dark Romantic, Alternative, Indie or whatever you want to personally classify them as were WAY much better than the majority of the bands today which seem like a diluted inferior version by comparison imho..

  • brilliant song ,the mission is one the best besides the cult group of the eighties and nineties years

  • @TheMicho70 The Mission ARE not IS, where did you pick that up from? Stop it. Bands are people, not amorphous globs, let's nip this in the bud right now, it's wrong. It is a record company idea and it is sad. Resist, kids, RESIST!

  • @Spankabuttux .I learned english but i have multiple sclerosis Thanks for the lesson

  • @TheMicho70 How would multiple sclerosis play any part in what I said? If you are suffering that condition, my condolences, good luck, but is that your answer to everything? If you posted "I think murder is right" would no-one be allowed to disagree with you?

  • @Spankabuttux ok i'm ordinary polish guy , not a doktor but i think that you a little overdo

  • @TheMicho70 You are right, sorry. I thought your first post was sarcastic, which it wasn't. Sorry. Good luck.

  • @TheMicho70 Couldn't agree more! Still got all their albums and their limited run signed single 'Stay With Me' :)

  • fine band ,very good live, there was a buzz in the air at there gig, very load as well,,,,good times.

  • cool

  • Loved this song when it first hit the airwaves and is still amazing. Powerful lyrics and imagery ^_^

  • Give more bands like this.

  • Love this!! ^_^

  • He remembered his youth .. What a wonderful nostalgia ..

  • Nice :)

  • top tune love it :))

  • kommatara!

  • A fine song but I am not sure it reminds me of the Sisters of Mercy in any way....I really think that Gary Mark had much more of an influence on the sound of SOM than Wayne Hussey ever did...still, an interesting piece of 80's music. Btw, it seems over the top to suggest Wayne wrote 80% of the first SOM album...

  • Andrew Eldritch would be turning in his ditch to hear this pap.

  • que chingona rola arriva mexico

  • @63cmn They are playing in October at Brixton Academy!

  • God, I absolutely LOVE this song!!^_^

  • el y solo el wayne eres el mejor de tu quinta y lo demuestas en cada conciertazo q das !!!!!

  • Ok done, added goth rock to the genres in the alternative playlists. All dark music none the less, i love all the dark tunes

  • AWESOME alternative industrial dark wave LOVE THIS very much

  • @djmusicjac you just combined three unrelated genres that all have nothing to do with them.. what the hell? hahaha. It's goth rock, dear.

  • @Creightonamore the alternative playlist i created covers lots of alternative genres, what i will do is add goth rock, thanks for this, x

  • What will become the world without any music ? Chaos for few; break for the other's ears !

  • wow this takes me back!!

  • love love

  • I think that 1 people missed the right button ...

  • for any Americans watching who wanna replicate this........dont bother

  • @emile235 For any stupid Brits who like to put their culture on a pedestal, don't bother:]

  • Magnifica Banda, la escucho y cada dia me gustan mas, Ya no existen bandas asi, es una lastima. Aguanten los ´80 CARAJO. Saludos desde Buenos Aires Argentina.

Band magnificent, and every day I hear I like more, bands are no longer so, it is a shame. Hang the 80 CARAJO. Greetings from Buenos Aires Argentina.

  • No like dislikes this song. Damn Straight!

  • @darkriver29 You shouldn't have said that! You've ecouraged the one hater out there to show his or her ugly face!

  • Sin duda los mejores, Dios, que buenos son......

  • Must be the worst lyrics of all time. That's quite some accomplishment, even for Wayne Hussey.

  • here is a head fuck for you. remember that record "you spin me around like a record" by DEAD OR ALIVE? Well wayne used to be the guitarist in that band a few years before they had that record out . WWHHAAATTT????

  • @emile235 that was when they were good. As soon as 'You Spin Me Round' came out, they lost all their cool!

  • @Criddington well I remember DOA bringing out their frst EP,. Yep they were alright.

  • @emile235 Yeah, the album 'Sophisticated Boom Boom' - the one with Wayne - really pointed to what he went on to do with the Sisters and the Mission; those guitar riffs couldn't be played by anyone else! Copied yes, never mimicked!

  • @Criddington Sophisticated Boom Boom? oh no there was earlier stuff than that. didnt you know?

  • @emile235 Stuff like 'I'm Falling' 'Number 11' and 'It's Been Hours Now' you mean?? Great stuff, when Pete Burns was awesome :)

  • @Criddington yes and particularly "The Stranger"

  • when was the last time you saw a performer crowd walk. today's performers are too distant (in other words fake). I saw these guys with Balaam in Encinitas CA. Never forget it. Paganism, real Rock, rustic beachside town, what could be better.

  • IN THE NAME OF THE CULT, MISSION U.K. AND A SISTER OF MERCY, AM...ORE PER TUTTO IL MONDO E PER IL ROCK ANNI 80.

VISCA CATALUNYA. CATALUNYA ISN'T SPAIN. CATALUNYA IS A NATION.

  • The Mission!!!

  • beautiful and powerful song by one of the greatest band in th world

    thanks wayne for everything

  • the mission is one of the greatest rock band iof all the time

  • Absolute quality. I used to like the Mission in my teens but only really appreciate how good they really are now

  • Off to Whitby Goth Weekend on Friday! Hussey and Hinkler reunited!! Can't wait!!!

  • wat a song !

  • No this song is based on the The Sword of Shannara series , tis a classic collection of books that tell an awesome fight between a good and evil the elfs, humans goblins, and any tother fuuckin demon / demigod ...........!!!

As soon as i heard the lyrics i knew a few of the tales .....!!

Phhhh tis clasic 80s student reading shame i dint get collage had to start work , but read most of the saga and its awesome .

Try reading some of the books as it all falls into place ..!!!

  • THAT GUITAR is a babe!

  • Absolute Epic song and video from the Mish. Have loved Wayne Hussey's voice for as long as I can remember, it's second to none, and this brings back some great memories.

  • waooowww ...they are the brothers of Ian Astbury's Cult!

  • hinkler was the best guitarist by far!!!!!

  • Fantastic live track!

  • Yeah!

  • thanks for the post....brings back memories...

  • I forgot what a cool tune this is :)

  • Awesome!

  • i really like 1:43 when he lets all the fans surround him and he chants with them! you dont see many Artists that let the fans touch them let alone get that close. i bet that was a awesome concert!

  • the best

  • i'd have to agree with that, their massively under rated.

  • Quality. The best rock band of their time in my opinon. They shat all over yer U2's, Simple Minds & INXS'. The Mish had bollocks.

  • @clearviewmind The Sisters of Mercy were much better.

  • @TheLeatherNunn Not live they wasn't. Album for album maybe could agree with you.

  • @TheLeatherNunn No they're not...

  • @7PsycoMantis7 Oh, but I think they are, based on simply how many people are aware of the Sisters, in comparison to The Mission. Of couse, The Mission has a better Pop orientation, nevertheless, The Sisters of Mercy had much more intelligent things to say...

  • @clearviewmind AND YOUR OPINION IS CORRECT MY FRIEND

  • @clearviewmind - They never shat over Simple Minds, no way Jose - no way. Still this is one of The Mish's best songs, very anthemic and powerful.

  • @clearviewmind nice of you to brand u2, simple minds and inxs a rock groups! lol

  • @clearviewmind Fuck off, The Mission are THE Sisters derived act that never had THE sound. U2 are douche. Inxs went to shit after the first few albums. Simple Minds shit all over ".the mission".

  • @blacknganga I've actually been listening to Street Fighting Years all week as it goes. Man, that album has come back to life for me, I love it. It was my fave album up until I heard Gods own Medicine in 1990. The Mish were different. I like different.

  • @clearviewmind Yeah, The Minds were VERY original, weren't they?! They had 4 good albums in them, and not that many people have realised just how great they are/were. Promised you a miracle, la da da da da da.

  • @blacknganga I guess you're right, they ended up being very different to how they sounded in the early 80's to when they became a giant band on the world stage in the late 80's. I loved Simple Minds, and I shouldn't of compared The Mish to them or U2 or INXS for that matter. The Mish were a different cat anyway, whereas the other 3 you could put together as mainstream super-rock bands. Music for the masses.

  • @clearviewmind Simple minds started off "underground" well, the first 6 albums, anyway. Do The Mission really stand up to the Likes Of The Sisters? I thought they were just mimicking Eldritch.?

  • @blacknganga Really??! I've never -ever seen it like that at all. (Hussey mimicking Eldritch) I discovered the Mish first in 1990, so maybe I had a different experience of them having found out they were born out of Te Sisters soon after. I love em both, mate, I really do, and I don't really make comparisons between them. I think Eldritch & Hussey have very different voices, and personally would say Hussey mimikcs Eldritch in any way. Except maybe the deeper vocal of 'WAKE'

  • @clearviewmind I shan't be arguing my point any further, good sir/madam.

  • @blacknganga the music of the first album of SOM was made 80% or more by Wayne Hussey...so the Mission was not a derived was Wayne's proyect with his sound rocker....SOM followed more industrial gothic sound, wayne was the greatest influence on the gothic music, according to a magazine

  • @thelastgodcl I never thought The Mission had "It". All a good band needs is a leader with charisma like Eldritch and they're set.

  • Great song! We have this song/album on LP.

Sorry for mistakes, I am czech.

  • I have always thought there was a real opportunity to make a fantastic video to this song. I always imagined it starting off with a knight walking up a dimly lit spiral staircase inside tall tower and then running to the very top and out onto the roof to shout out over a massive crowd of followers! Then, during the last heart-beat chant of "give me, give me, give me, deliverance...." it fades into a man dying in bed to give out his last breath with the word "Me....."

  • @jcpadmore thats AWESOME..i like that..i listen to this song ALOT. i was really moved by it when i first herd it. Honestly, i thought it was some kinda "religious" song. i dont meen Christianity. like somthing else. so i tryed to research it and couldent find anything. but then i did the common sence thing and read the Lyrics and im guessing its about Knights and like the Round Table kinda scheme? i tell you what, if it was a religion i would look into it ^^ haha

  • @christkd342 It very Druidic

  • Remember camping at the foot of Glastonbury Tor listening to this on a tape in the car. Happy days! Thanks for posting!
