North Vietnam had the support of China, I think. I know North Korea had the support of China. But I don't remember if The Viet Cong Had their support or not. Anyway, I sometime wish we did win the Vietnam war.
the one thing i noticed about warfare with insurgents is that they can easily be defeated in a normal gunfight but sadly they use guerilla tactis which in some cases works but the only thing effective is IED's and other kinds booby traps

Japanese soldiers thought or taught that if they surrendered they'd be tortured to death or worse so might as well die trying. @MrGreenday34 the tiger tank was total shit 9 times out of ten it wouldnt even make it to the battlefeild because it was so unreliable (especial the gearbox which was madly overloaded by the exssesive weight) in the last years of the war it was also badly out classed by allied model ie the soviet IS-1 and IS-2 the american m-26 pershing the british sherman firefly and others. all these models were faster, lighter, had better guns, were much more reliable, and most importantly easier to produce

It came to the point we had to drop atomic bombs on them because if we invaded them, the estimated casualties of the invasion alone were 1 million, thats without the estimated casaulties of fighting in japan until they surrendered.

North Vietnam did defeat America, I won't deny it. They defeated us by decreasing our moral at the homefront. We called our boys home, allowing the North to defeat us.
Although, if you look at the losses from both sides, South Veitnam and the U.S. lost way less troops.

the one thing i noticed about warfare with insurgents is that they can easily be defeated in a normal gunfight but sadly they use guerilla tactis which in some cases works but the only thing effective is IED's and other kinds booby traps

Japanese soldiers thought or taught that if they surrendered they'd be tortured to death or worse so might as well die trying. It's to do with propaganda and brainwashed tactics instilled in them by the Emperor. In reality I'm pretty sure every human wants to live to fight another day, surrender is not always too bad, provided that you have a good cause e.g. Revenge. Just my views mate:)

@noutos1 in the end they lost every battle they lost the war the second they steped into poland because they could never have invaded britian for 3 reasons. no1: luftwaffe could never get air supperiorty over souther england. no2 the kreigsmarine was never even close to as strong as the navy thats why they deployed so many uboats. no3:the home gaurd would have launched suicide attacks to delay the germans to allow the army to moblise and hold the stop lines

@MrGreenday34 the tiger tank was total shit 9 times out of ten it wouldnt even make it to the battlefeild because it was so unreliable (especial the gearbox which was madly overloaded by the exssesive weight) in the last years of the war it was also badly out classed by allied model ie the soviet IS-1 and IS-2 the american m-26 pershing the british sherman firefly and others. all these models were faster, lighter, had better guns, were much more reliable, and most importantly easier to produce

It came to the point we had to drop atomic bombs on them because if we invaded them, the estimated casualties of the invasion alone were 1 million, thats without the estimated casaulties of fighting in japan until they surrendered.

North Vietnam did defeat America, I won't deny it. They defeated us by decreasing our moral at the homefront. We called our boys home, allowing the North to defeat us.
Although, if you look at the losses from both sides, South Veitnam and the U.S. lost way less troops.

@Hazlett5551 That is fairly true. Our moral in Veitnam was not nearly as high as the North. Eventually we pulled out, not because of military losses, but because of loss of moral.
So I agree that America lost the war, but not in a typical war-like manner.

@fanir33 Equipment is a factor of warfare. If a larger, more muscular person beats a smaller person in a fight, rarely do you hear "Well he was bigger so its not fair." And either way, the North had aid from other communist countries.

@fanir33 what do you mean with equipment? we came in with WW2 weapons then the M16 which started out with many problems the Vietcong had russian AK-47s, RPGs, Tanks, Helicopters, and what i believe russian special forces such as spetsnaz but that was never confirmed
