  • lol him and his brother get on so well. i fight with my brother all the time ha.

  • He really reminds me of Harry Potter. He has the hair, the accent, and there is just something about him that reminds me of the character! Also his friend Olly says "Harry Potter" right around the 3:20 mark :D

  • I have a friend like that, he's amazing at talking with others and making friends. Something I can't do and I study him to learn his patterns of behavior. In high school instead of loving girls or parties I was reading about economics and history. At my high school everyone was into baggy clothes and rap while I'm wearing skinny jeans and listening to folk music or something.

  • I don't behave like this but I do ask basic questions about people's behavior. I'm more obsessed with why people do some things. My IQ didn't get high until I got to college because I was raised in a terrible environment, mom on drugs, dad emotionally absent, I think he has Asperger's too....he's obsessed with music. I get obsessed with things and I'll keep talking about them to my friends and they just want me to shut up. I did get picked on in high school.

  • @mxzysptlik I'm just like that and I have almost the same story.

  • I have aspergers and the only reason I don't seem as retarded as this guy is because I'm more intelligent I guess, plus he's actually more social minded (how he behaves with his mother for example ) than me.

  • @ZORGtheALIEN "i dont seem as retarded as this guy" there goes ur aspergers again. so damn rude, he can be watching this u know.

  • Reuben and Olly are like a younger version of Sherlock and John!

  • I do that to my parents all the time. I think most kids do....

  • this kid should try some weed XD

  • @Liberaldamages Everybody should! Wait.... What? lol joking im not high right now.

  • @Liberaldamages yeah and completely ruin his life yeaht thats a good idea its just gonna make everything worse i knew a stoner once and she warned me about starting to smoke weed she told me about how much it could ruin someones life and how much damage it could do

  • This is very much me...Damn?! I was Didetus as that.

  • I looove these highly intelligent boys, they are wonderful. People with Aspergers simply make the world much more interesting!!

  • I can't believe his mom tried to justify buying ice cubes, I am not autistic but I am rational and it is not rational to buy bloody ice cubes from a supermarket. What idiot would do that? It is not normal and his mom trying to make it normal is just crazy.. who's the odd one?

  • god bless his mother. what a strong determined loving woman.

  • real life sheldon cooper

  • @WorldofBrandon Who is Sheldon Cooper?

  • @ixtoothint

the tall guy from the big bang theory

  • And suddenly, motherfuckin' Dino Jr.

  • my boyfriend's beautiful younger brother has aspergers :)

one day when his parents past, i will have the honor of being

around him 24/7 <3 His name is Rain.

  • i have aspergers and i don't do that shit. Sometimes I come off rude to others but this kid is just a nerd. "Why do they sell ice cubes like that?" Wtf kinda question is that? It's obvious he's hamming it up for the cameras and because he's so bright, intelligent, unique, and special (cause mommy and the doctors said so) he has to go around act like a faggot.

  • @whatupbrah1 People are on different areas of the autism spectrum. I've worked with children just like Reuben who simply can't understand why people do things certain ways, or how certain things work, but I know others who you couldn't tell that they were autistic. This guy is not "hamming it up for the cameras", everyone with Asperger's Syndrome are different.

  • @whatupbrah1 I have to slightly agree with you, I have aspies too..... dont do anything at all like this

  • @whatupbrah1 Just because you have aspergers doesn't mean everyone who has aspergers is just like you. Some cases of aspergers can have more or less extreme symptoms. Maybe he is "hamming it up for the cameras" but I just wanted to share that. Sorry if I might have have offended you.

  • @whatupbrah1 You are mean! Reuben is not stupid!

  • that kid just seems like a little bitch. Just because you have aspergers dosen't mean you have to go around and act like you're smarter then everybody else.

  • @whatupbrah1 thats exactly the problem! the only reason hes going round acting like hes smarter than everyone else is cuz of his problem. he doesnt he was being bitchy about it.

  • he's almost smart as einsntein but he can't talk to ppl or go through a crowd or why ppl buy already made ice cubes, you dumbazz

  • Some people don't have freezers, bam! Problem solved, move on.

  • @chambersgirl92 then you have it less severe then i do :-)

  • I am 17 and have asperger :-) i haven't been out of the house for a year and have no friends at all, tomorrow i'm gonna try to just walk on the streets on my own and maybe go into the supermarket.

  • @christophedetiege I'm sorry to hear that Christopher, I can reciprocate your feelings of alienation, and I have been through these stages just as you have, good luck you have my support.

  • @deviantmonkey1 Thank You :-)

  • he was not wrong about the ice cubes. she just could not explain it right ! : s Thats all i can think right now lol

    5. What I find funny and what others find funny seem to be two different things.

    6. Crowds, and sudden loud noises drive me mental.

    7. I am a very lonely person. Flat out.

    PROS:

    1. I have a keen memory

    2. My intelligence has always come in handy in academics.

    3. I am highly sensitive to my surroundings and am very creative.

    4. My photographic memory has always allowed me in my art to just look at my subject once and remember it almost exactly.

    5. Being unique is just great.

  • There are many pros and cons of having Asperger's Syndrome, in my opinion. These are my own personal pros and cons with living with Asperger's:

    CONS:

    1. Not many people interesting enough for me to talk to.

    2. It is hard for me to understand social structures and what makes people "tick".

    3. Nobody seems to care about what I have to say, as what I have to say is almost always about science instead of "Reality TV."

    4. I find it difficult to know when to enter and exit a conversation.

    (cont.)

  • the main bad thing about aspergers is u are lonely, its cool to be different and have interests in strange things, being paranoid and lonely is the big down side

  • Not everyone who dislikes crowds has aspergers syndrome, many people with anxiety disorders or phobic disorders have problems with them.

  • olly is fuckin awesome.

  • bullies = jail no questions asked

  • Dinosaur Jr, hells yeah!

  • I have asperger's, and I often struggle to get to sleep, is it related to my condition?

  • @ColdHearted117 I am no doctor, but my boyfriend has Asperger's and has a terrible time sleeping. He's been on sleeping pills to help him sleep for years, so it very well may be related. Then again, it could be just coincidence.

  • Aspergers is both a blessing and a curse. With it, comes both ingenuity and high intellect, but also despair and sadness. I know this, cause I have it.

  • I am very obsessed of Autism, and other kinds of syndromes...Does that make me Asperger person ?!!!

  • @Dawoudkhalifa No. I'm obsessed with music and I'm not. Just because you only one sign of AS doesn't necessarily mean you have it.

  • I am very obsessed of Autism, and other kind of syndromes...Does that make me Asperger person ?!!!

  • Rueben's brother is very intelligent. Just pointing that out.

  • @phaquetoob I noticed that too. He speaks very much like an adult and he is very sharp with his witty comments. He also has a cute smile at 2:17 that made me smile in return.

  • @phaquetoob and he's cute :D

  • I don't have aspergers, but i also think ice cubes in bags are pointless xD

  • can Asperger people fly and fight crime and stuff?

  • @rpcarnell of course! Apart from the fly part...unless you took a plane.

  • @xTwilightWolvesx So the Kickass guy had Asperger. Not Hit Girl. She was just a little psycho.

  • @rpcarnell No. What a stupid question!

  • @rpcarnell i wish i could atleast fight crime because i hate it i dont see the point in it people should just live decent life without drugs or alcohol then there would be less trouble in the world its the same about religion

  • @rpcarnell someones jealous...

  • @rpcarnell Absolutely. I play to fly very soon.

  • @rpcarnell I have flown many times the crowds can be daunting. As for fighting crime Sherlock Holmes is one of the most famous people with Asperger's Syndrome in the world

  • @rpcarnell Sh! D: It's a secret, don't let everyone in on it.

  • @MHASLiyra I know right? Now they'll all want our power. :(

  • is aspergers just not having common sense but having uncommon sense?

  • I really enjoy seeing people helping other people out for nothing in return. That Olly is just as special (in a good sense) as Reuben.

If you're ever going to read this, Olly, know that you're a good person. If it's true that what goes around comes around, then I hope that you'll be receiving the same good you're giving (with a little extra on the side ^_^).

Reuben, I wish you the best in your efforts.

  • Who cares about fitting in. The people you are trying to please are no different than Reuben in the sense they have the same neurotic obsession with social approval that he has with the study of the brain. It would be the same if Reuben was the majority and the odd social person was forced to conform to the spock world around him.

  • lol this kid is so funny but so innocent tooo no one shuld pick on him he seems nice :)

  • Learn to enjoy having Aspergers says me who should practice what he preaches. :) I can relate to the comment about getting stuck on things, something happened to me about 4 and a half years ago which I'm still trying to come to terms with.

  • i have aspbergers, i have a photographic memory and i remember everything since i was 2 like it was yesterday. its very amazing :/ aspbergers is a very cool thing except that you are very lonely..

  • @Jaeger2011 I'm pretty sure it's called eidetic memory and it's also quite funny how you can't spell your own disorder correctly. :p

And no, I do not have Asperger's.

  • @RobbieWalther its also funny that your IQ is very low :)

  • @Jaeger2011 My IQ is 124. It's up for debate whether if you or I consider it low. IQ is not everything that circuits around intelligence. For an example, I learn languages easily while others struggle and have to work their asses off. I can just sit through every English class or Swedish class without even listening and get straight A's.

I also find it funny how you know my IQ.. BECAUSE YOU DON'T..

  • @Jaeger2011 It can be 124, it can 130. Who knows.. I just know it's somewhere inbetween.

  • @RobbieWalther hahahahha i doubt that :)

  • @Jaeger2011 Then what's your IQ?

  • @RobbieWalther Why do you obsess with high IQ?

I have a very high IQ, not trying to sound arrogant, but I am not smart or wise, just intellectual.

I spoke Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Norwegian and English by the time I was 16, but why is something I don't grasp. It didn't make me wise, I just learned it.

So stop arguing about IQ, it is not something to struggle for, instead struggle to be wise and smart!

    That is what counts!

  • @DrNaturalPhenomena I don't obsess with it but that guy I replied to was so arrogant. He can't even spell to his disorder correctly.

And the only reason I came here is because I have a friend with Asperger's.

  • @RobbieWalther Aha, I see.

Friend with asperger, and you are the one searching for documentaries, you are a really good friend.

  • @DrNaturalPhenomena Thank you, my friend.

  • @Jaeger2011 aawww

  • damn he's got big feet.

  • Now they believe that her twin sister may also have aspergers and directed me to take her to the center for autism.

  • I have twin daughters one was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome when she was 13 they are now 14 it was very clear that something was wrong with her social skills but because she did so good in school her social ability was over looked I kept thinking that she would grow out of it but at the urging of my sister she advised me to take her and have her evaluated for Apergers because her son has it and my daughter and him have a lot of similiar charateristics. So I did . She has Aspergers.

  • sadly i have asperges :? but im cool with it :P i stay strong dont let anybody hurt you XD

  • ok continueing to watch this i instantly was differnet was reuben when the part about soccer came up. haha i can't get enough of soccer, its one of my obsessions, his is obsession over the brain and neurology mine is soccer

  • HAHAH those first few seconds, and he INSTANTLY reminded me of myself. "why are they selling the icecubes like that" and then the mom reminded me of mine. im always asking her now even as a 20 year old when im with her, rather random and strange questions about the simplest things that other people would never even think about.

  • He SOOOOO reminds me of me!

  • His brother is soooo cute..

  • wow some people and their comments. Reuben, you can hang with me any day. I would love to learn!

  • Weird how at the end he says that appearance is key to fitting in and tries to alter his looks. Personally, I totally love his look, especially the hair and glasses (ESPECIALLY the glasses. I WANT to glasses!!) I think it's harder for him to accept being around people than people accept him being around them ... I don't know. If he'd gone to my school he'd have no problem at least meeting people. My friends would have considered his look "cool".

... But, seriously, I WANT THOSE GLASSES!

  • Does Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory have AS? I couldn't help thinking while watching this that Reuben reminds me strongly of Sheldon in his quirks, like having difficulty socializing, being very analytical, pursuing one specific subject, high intellect--I always thought Sheldon was just ... Sheldon, but now that I think about it he does seem to have some AS symptoms, though whether that was the writers' intent I don't know.

I wouldn't mind being friends with Reuben at all :)

  • Just seems like your average nerd. Tall, lanky, mommy hair, glasses, poor teeth, acne, and awkward. He'll probably grow up to be a productive member of society.

  • The conversation about the ice cubes was like something straight out of the UK version of The Office.

  • Oh boo fuckin hoo he can't even "concentrate" going shopping. Oh me heart bleeds.

  • I have Asperger's I have few friends, but the ones I do have I'm really close to. I seem to do everything too precise according to people who are acquainted with me. people say when I'm telling a person about something they say I go that in-depth I start to sound crazy. When I was at school I was the best in textiles and R.E. In school lunch time while most of the lads was playing football, I preferred to stay inside and play chess with the geography teacher. He never managed to beat me, haha.

  • i do that sometimes, the focused on one thing and interrupting. It's sort of impulsive, I have a nagging in the back of my head screaming for me to ask or say something.

    but i don't have Asperger

  • @hoperisnear

I think that it's the reaction to these things, being panicked or unable to cop with them, that defines spectrum.

When he was describing crowds I thought, "Everyone sees a crowd like that until a familiar or desireable face presents itself" but most people don't get stressed out by it.

  • Comment removed

  • asking inane questions about ice cubes is a clear sign of 999 iq, smarter than einstein

  • ROFL 0:08

  • It´s really nice that he has a good friend and really nice family, well done :) One day we will hear about him, for sure ;)

  • what a brave young man, he shouldnt care what other ppl think b/c in the future he will be a brain doctor and he will be telling people what they re suppose to think lol

  • Comment removed

  • @TheGordogringo You really dont have a clue do you? You should just keep your nasty comments to yourself. I can picture the sort of person you are, one of those insecure bullies who make life so fucking hard for people like me.

  • @MrPresidentToBe Hey hon I just really wanted to apologize for that comment. I've been having some problems with my account it has been hacked a couple of times. I didn't post that. On the contrary, I like this video and Reuben seems like a bright and awesome kid. I also have asperger's myself. Sorry once again :(

  • That kid is so cute.

  • reuben's friend olly is such a gem! he's so patient and lovely and understanding. brilliant friendship!

  • I did the same thing about the ice cubes. I also have Aspergers. Its nothing to be ashamed about, but people can be such assholes.

  • I love his family

  • Thank you so much Reuben for sharing your story.

  • His little brother is so cute O.o :P

  • Would be interesting to see an interview with Ollie in 25-30 years.

and see how things went being Reubens protector.

Ollie better be prepared to deal with Reuban being a bully magnet

    and girl repellent.

I'v been in Ollie's place. 30+ years of being the friend of a guy with Aspergers like Reuben. I can only dream of where I'd actully be now if I hadn't spent so much

time coddling and being held back by him.

  • an INTJ and ENFP friendship!

  • he intellectualises these basic human instincts of wanting to connect and feel amongst others and feel what they are feeling. Its all part of the disorder I suppose.

  • he seems like a person you could talk to like all night long about almost anything, except for all the sience things because i don't really get them :D

  • I sorta like the kid...im not sure why, but I do.

  • ...Reuben is awesome. He asks the questions I would like with the ice cubes. Then again, I'm also diagnosed with the same diagnosis as him but I wish I was as smart as him. =/

  • @SilverSora790

    me too

  • @SilverSora790

I was blessed to be a bit more social than most aspis... But yeah... It's still tough since I do have the problem with being "stuck" a lot of the time.

  • @SilverSora790 you can be very smart and have a low IQ. just depends how many days u went to skool and lots of other variables. well..maybe not low but u kno..IQ tests are wrong i promise you

  • @SilverSora790 me too! i wish i was smart too

  • @SilverSora790

    Me too.

  • @SilverSora790 , Same with me.

  • Reuben is lucky to be highly intelligent.

  • Everyone is borne different. You can not expect any two people to be similar.

  • olly seems lovely.

  • his friend is ugly as fuck

  • @JohnnyMytton one is right here...

  • I can totally relate to the icecube thing! Its so retarded to buy icecubes when u can just freeze them lol

  • Yo harry! Sup bro. How 'bout a Quidditch match?

  • @Roflmeat i lol'd

  • i coup with my aspergers by not caring and being in a foul mood and no the i doont care is not easy with this disorder but it helps i have a hard time geting to my school work and doing chours becuase i easly forget tasks.

  • Comment removed

  • @sixwingproductions Being in a bad mood all the time is not a symptom of aspergers, sounds more like Bipolar disorder, I know because I might have it.

  • @NorthernerMatty123 hay i said its my coping mechanism not a symptom learn to read.

  • His accent is exactly like Daniel Radcliffe's =D

  • I am weird, any 1 who says rueben is weird think about this, looking up aspergures syndrom on youtube if you dont have it is kind of weird

  • looks don't help too much ruben... atleast not for me... I am 6'5" and good looking and I can't get a girl...

  • This kid is hilarious how can anyone make fun of him. He askes very good questions in the super market. A lot of nonsense happens in our everyday life. We need logical people like Reuben to help think differently. KEEP IT UP REUBEN

  • I could have explain to Reuben about the ice better, but the coach wanted to move on. I have high functioning autism.

  • Reuben should stop trying to be like everybody else. don't try so hard to fit in. don't be mean to others or disrespect others but you don't have to be like everybody else. don't think of yourself as alien. you have a nice family that cares about you.

  • Reuben's adorable and so are his brother and mother. What a nice family. That mother deserves a medal.

  • I think I'd get along with Reuben. While I don't have Asperger's, I have a number of the same traits. I'm not good with people, I'm very literal, and I hate being in groups most of the time.

  • Why are some people here using Aspergers as a way to feel superior to others?

I read things like "We have superior knowledge therefore we intimidate others".

I don't get it. It sounds like someone with insecurities trying to portray themselves as superior.

    Is this normal?

  • @Ignozi I've Asperger's and I wonder the same thing. Sometimes it's really weird, because they say things like: it's a social convention, only NT cares about that., because I said that they used a word in a sense that is not the one of that word, because they said all NT women were "putes" (prostitutes), and that's wrong. Then they said stuffs about how people portrayed them stereotypically, but they seemed to do the same with other people, Aspie or not. (that was on a Web board)

  • @PashupatiFR Then, it doesn't really make you feel welcome on that board. And also, I wanted to say that it is bad that these documentaries never speaks more about sensory problems. And I also hate how on boards Aspie say that they can't lie and everybody know that, but I can lie pretty well and I do that when I'm in some situation, but that situation won't come back and it doesn't causes problem to anybody.

  • @PashupatiFR Sorry, not sense, meaning. (I thought about the word "sens", I'm learning English since a time, but still have a lack of vocabulary, translate in my head)

  • @Ignozi Nah this isn't true. I have aspbergers myself but I need to study as hard as everyone else at school. Meh were not smarter than everyone else we are just different :)

  • I ALWAYS WONDERED WHY ICE CUBES COME IN BAGS. Don't all freezer models make them!?

  • @xXXREapERCHiLD216XXx Well, the little thingies you can buy to make them comes with 6 or 8 "holes" (to fill with water, not sure I'm clear) for 1€, plus it takes time for the ice cubes to become ice cubes, so maybe if you need to have a lot for an occasion you'd prefer to buy them in bags.

  • @PashupatiFR Well I understand that, but why don't all freezer models make ice???

  • @xXXREapERCHiLD216XXx Um, this I don't know. (the little thingie I was talking about is called ice cube tray as I found) Here, we've got "réfrigérateurs" (freezer I think) and "congélateurs" (seems to be freezer also on Wikipedia) and the sole difference is that the first one is used only to conserve things like yogourt and apples, when the second must really freeze them. Maybe it's that difference, as the first ones aren't cold enough to froze the water? I hope I don't sound too stupid.

  • @xXXREapERCHiLD216XXx

    not all of them ...

  • i need to have atest to see if i have aspergers, i have hyperlexia, which is very similar in some ways, but its not that well known which has made it even harder for me, i had to explain to a doctor what it was, he'd never heard of it before.

  • People with Asperger's have trouble understanding how others think. That does not mean they are stupid. Aspies are said to have at least average if not above average intelligence. They simply think differently, as did Einstein, who was rumored to have Asperger's Syndrome.

  • Man Rupert seems like a good guy and I wish him the best, fuck anybody who gives him a hard time. And that guy Ollie is awesome for sticking up for Rupert and hanging out with him even though it's not "cool", I want to become more like that.

  • @raider2661 in my opinion friends with aspergers are the best and most dedicated friends you can have, I have a friend with aspergers and we've been friends since we were 11 we're almost 16 now and even though we don't go to the same school anymore we visit each other at least twice a year we talk every now and then, and aspergers is very mild, although they're not very social they love to have friends!
