I always interpreted it as Miku just going to see her boyfriend, and a dog follows her on her way there. I also always kind of saw it as the dog and her talking at 3:50. Like, maybe the dog is actually her boyfriend put under a curse, and at the end, he turns back into a human. I mean, the song does have a very magical feel to it, so I imagined the story to be very fairy-tale-ish. -shrug-

My idea of this song is that

Miku is dying and/or dead, [possibly a accident at the merry go round?] and is now in a state of mind where she is trying to find her beloved, who possibly was in the same accident, she comes across some things that might be in the same kind of state she's in [dying/dead] For example, the labrador with droopy eyes could be dying, ect, and follows her, in the end they are both reunited in the afterlife.
