At the end of the day, if you look at the situation, I technically "lost" money doing the give away, but what I lost in dollars in cents, I gained back in giving something cool to my subs.

Bumping does not deserve a reaction, intentional and consistent bumping will lead to annoyance in the subscribers. They do not and should not flame the person for it as it takes literally 2 seconds to either close it or unsubscribe. There is an edit subscription button beside the video for a reason... Plus its smart advertisement, do you hate old spice for advertising beside your homepage or before videos? No, so why should you hate youtubers for advertising their videos...
