So, you guys that own these VFR's, I found one in Marietta, GA and I'm thinkin about picking it up. Question is, would this bike its a 1998 VFR 800 Interceptor w/30k+ miles, would this be a good pick for my first bike? I do like Yamaha's R6, but insurance would kill me. Please, any advice would be great.
Just bought one just like this one - ABS with Hardbags may be only difference. Love this color. Only ridden 90 miles so far, but it seems to handle well.
@alientestsubject Lol you post that on every VFR-video... I have had mine for almost 3 years, daily usage, and haven't had a single mechanical/electrical problem so far...
You obviously bought a shitt£r that had not been looked after in any way or had the wiring recall work done as everyone who i've talked to that owns one or has owned one says they are ultra reliable, everyone knows Jap cars and bikes are the most reliable, our lass has a Toyota Yaris, they are ultra reliable and it's never let her down but she did have to have the accelerator replaced under a recall, these things happen time to time but it don't mean the machine's are crap!
@alientestsubject Bollox mines a 98 VFR with 59000 miles, It runs and looks like Brand new, I know many people with VFR's old to new and none of them have had a problem, And they use them for touring and everyday use.
i bought my vfr with 40K miles for $1'000 and put another 50K miles on it before it was stolen, i will tell you that these bikes are reliable as mine always started, they are very comfortable and will run forever if you take even mediocre care of them. although i always wanted more horsepower i was always impressed with the comfort and reliability, it's an awesome bike.
they are all different. ive had my 07 up to about 155 so far. it really just depends on how good of a day the factory workers were having when they built the bike, and if you are soft and dont mod the bike.
dude are you holding your nose!
