  • I hated Jim's game at the beginning. I quickly learnt to appreciate him..

  • Sampras beat courier in 4 sets at wimby. He barely won a tiebreaker

  • This 2 guys fight like gladiators, one of the fittest guys ever.

  • Muster wasnt a dominant til about '95 were he won majority of the clay courts tournament.

  • @rehabboy01 Thats because Brugera and Courier were finished by then and Guga had yet to come ..

  • @rehabboy01 he got run over by a car

  • what racket Thomas using?

  • Courier was a beast on clay at this time.....he was fitter than anyone including muster and he had that forehand that was just putting people away match after match....until bruguera in the finals...he had a great run....3 straight french finals....not bad for an american

  • Remember Courier, Agassi, Nadal, Federer are the only players in recent memory to reach the French and Wimbledon finals the same year.

Sampras never made the French final ever.

  • why does courier care if someone wants to read the paper? douchebag

  • love the shorts

  • fantastic !!!! *****

  • courier one of my favourite playersof the 90s, had it not been for devastating defeats against sampras in A0 1995 and F0 96, he had the potential to win more grand slams

  • The loss to Bruguera in the French final in 93 also really hurt....so did losing the Wimbledon final to Sampras 2 wks later. Courier and Chang were my favorite players of the 90s.

  • he didnt have a chance to beat sampras at wimby

  • @robertk2007 what the hell do u mean ? He took him to 5 close sets in the final - better than any one else did - even the mighty Becker

  • This is slow motion compared to 2009.

  • That is because the players of 2009 have access to technologically advanced equipments

  • wtf are you talking about?

most of these players nowadays could give any of the top 30 a run for their money, win or lose

  • Everybody talks what an animal Muster was, but had Courier stuck around longer, he had the potential to become far greater. Courier was a beast also. Here you can see it.

  • Courier was always a threat for Muster, cause the American dominated his matches with his strong forehand. Check out the ATP Head to Head numbers. Courier won more matches on clay than Muster.

  • Muster was a great player, but he wasn't in Courier's league. Courier owned him on all surfaces -- including clay, as you can see here. He won more Grand Slams, more French Opens, and spent far more time as #1 in the world.

  • he owned him for a time but Muster won their last 3 meetings

  • @drwood04

Well there is always a player who got your number, Courier certainly had Musters in a lot of matches.

But i can tell you other ones. Bruguera always got Couriers in Grand Slams, and Muster always got Brugueras.

But saying Muster was not in Couriers league is an overstatement, cause Muster won the most clay court titles, till Nadal entered the tour.

Courier vs. Muster is 7:5 head to head, so pretty close, and the last 3 matches all won Muster.

  • LOL go to the park to read ur news paper! never seen an american in the 2nd week of the tournaments anymore. Courier Rulezz!

  • "Ne lis pas ton journal quand je joue!" (i.e. Don't read your paper while I'm playing, Jim Courier spoke good French...)

  • yes he speaks very good French, he makes me love this tournament...

  • what'd Jim say in the beginning?

  • match de bourrins! je l'avais suivis
