Bro, I did this myself before your video. One problem: With the HDMI cord your sending a audio and video signal to just a Video input. Most LCD monitors don't have speakers for that matter and often times it will say "Cable not supported" with Xbox 360 they gave u a cable to work around that you plug right into the back of your 360 where you would plug in A/V cord to cancel out the audio

@mebich1 the monitor is just the display , it's almost the same as a Tv. As long as you're able to connect the HDMI , ... cable in the monitor , you don't need a computer. You can also do this with a laptop ( wich has HDMI input )

@honda80f I had this issue but I fixed it by holding the power button down to reset the PS3 to default. It resets the resolution settings. Then just go in the menu and set it up until you find the right setting for your monitor.

Sound can be an issue. Some monitors have built in speakers, but most do not. Most of the time, if you don't see a 3.5mm jack somewhere on your monitor, then you can't have sound without using external speakers. I made a converter out of spare cable and my RCA cable that came with my PS3 to convert component (red, white) audio cables to a 3.5mm jack type, and Viola! (You can buy an adapter to do this, but I didn't feel like paying for something I already had the parts to make ;-p )

Yes but this way U need to insert both DVI and HDMI cables ... also u need to insert the white and yellow cables only since you'll be getting video input from the HDMI cable.

(Heads-up on doing that)1U need to buy several adapters (DVI/HDMI about 3$) and a female-female DVI adapter.

PS:I have only tested that method with a Playstation3 but you shouldn't have any problems doing it with the 360.

I can't get my setup to work. I have a Samsung SyncMaster 940BF with a nVidea 7600 GS video card. I plugged in my HDMI cable to my PS3 and plugged in the DVI cable to the back of my monitor. I turn on the PS3 and nothing happens. My cursor does the sand clock icon like it's loading for a bit but nothing comes up on my monitor. I tried holding down the power button to reset. Is there anything I need to do program wise or something? I also switched to digital source and it goes to sleep.

well first off all it doesnt matter what type of graphics card or processor you have , seeing as you are not using you'r pc for this (just you'r monitor) is you converter to dvi or vga, make sure you'r monitor supports hdcp, and that you have it plugged right, and change the signal from you'r monitor, if any.

Well first of all, almost all new monitors are HDCP enabled, but if yours is 3 or more years old, visit the Brand's site and look for the info "HDCP ready". Or just use Google it's pretty easy to find out.

The 2nd, to play 360/PS3 you don't need a PC, it's like if you have a VCR and a DVD plugged into your TV. You only switch from one source to another, you don't need to go through to the VCR to watch DVD and so on.

One of them has 24 straight rows of pins along with one at the end, and the other cable has 9 pins on both sides, so they are seperated and there's a blank gap in between them.
