just a suggestion but u should consider giving ur hermit crab some higher ground or some thing for them to climb on ;D my ones are happy with their new home
They chirp because they're trading shells, or in this case its not very happy because you keep bugging the little guy. So just leave him alone let him sleep.
It's not necessarily true that hermit crabs chirp only when they're stressed; mine chirp when having a friendly conversation, playing games, and yes, getting stuck.
However, make sure that it has good living conditions, otherwise it will chirp due to stress. BTW cute shell two of mine have it :D

@HermitCrabCare1 They can chirp for other reasons too. I have a beautiful set up for my hermit crabs and they chirp all night with eachother!
