Hey , I have a laptop problem .

When i turn on my laptop it loads until it says " 1782- Controller Failure " and then there is also a screen which says " Non-System disk or disk error . Replace and strike any key when ready " [ They all appear on a black screen]

I don't know why . Please help me . I have an HP laptop

with my expierience, discs can be predictable because thier exceptable to more damage I use flash drives with a booter.

@techguy3000.. straighten out a paper clip and push the end in the small round hole in the CD drive face plate.

But when it loads the thigs at the bottom it stops at "Setup is starting Windows" and continues to just stay there. What do I do? Yeah, a lovely virus wipe the operating system from my computer. Good info, btw. I have one question, mine asks for an "administrator's" password. Do I have to be working as a computer engineer to get that password?

i Deleted my Operative System by a mistake... when i turn on my computer, a black screen comes up, with the words " Missing Operative System" , i got an windows 7 CD, but when i put it in the PC nothing happens.... Please help if u know anything!

@Fatgnomeable It is possible that the motherboard or CPU is incompatible with windows 7, check the specs to make sure, if not. You will have to buy a windows XP OP or buy a new computer. Alternatively you could buy a new motherboard, CPU, hard drive ect making sure they are all compatible and upgrade the system to take win 7 (and likely run faster too), but i am guessing you do not have the technical knowledge of how to do that or the time to learn how, in which case, look to the above...

I may be buying a "barebones" gaming pc soon, so its gonna come without an operating system. I've found one, but im wondering: how do you put an os on a computer that doesn't have one in the first place? Also, does the nVidia GeForce 8400GS 512MB video card work well for gaming? Like for most current games out there (fallout, world at war, etc.)? THANK YOU

its better to get an ATI video card and not a Nvidia. Because Nvidia costs ALOT more than an ATI with the same performance, quality etc.

for example the GTX 260 from Nvidia costs now, i think, like 130$ and an ATI with the same performance just costs 70$ or something like this.

Anyways buy an ATI!!!

but before you should check if your motherboard supports ATI if you already got one.

@wingchangwow , if you install an OS over an old OS, you will loose all data that used to be on that hard drive. I would go and buy an external hard drive and back up everything to it before i install.

if its really bothering you you can load it and get to the boot menu. then after run comand prompt only and then type ( format c: ) it will completely wipe your hard drive.
