  • how do you make it sound like ur rapping? is that possible?

  • is there a way to assign it onto my musical keyboard (piano)?

  • @alexanderXCII YOu mean like a midi controller? If so then yes. Just do the steps I outline and look up how to control GB synth with midi on google.

  • @michaelromani how come when you put the high hat in the the other beat it is in sync?

  • @Theironwalnut The high hat is midi. It is a software synth sound. It fits right into the bpm.

  • what was the track you used for replacing it with the new drum ? at 3:47

  • @davidmathieu13 At that point in the video I am using "musical typing" to create my own drum loop. Hope that answers the question.

  • @michaelromani Yeah it does thank you for the fast answer. You helped me doing a nice beat tonight.

  • @michaelromani and do you have a video that shows how to create some musical typing drum loop ?

  • People actually use the loops in Garageband?

  • that beat is clean.

  • do u let artist use ur beats or what i want some help

  • i cant put the drums into the musical typing everytime i go to put one it just stays grey?

  • Absolutely brilliant. This was incredibly helpful.

  • Absolutely brilliant. This was incredibly helpful.

  • man i was lost before i saw your videos. thanks a lot

  • iam a starter on garage Band and want to do wat ur doing? so get intouch and pls give me tips

  • @xoxneekxox - I'm taking a break for now, but check out my videos. You can learn all I've learned from them. Good luck!

  • @michaelromani Thank you very much for all of these videos. I don't use Garageband, but the programs I use are pretty similar and the ideas are the same. I had a question though. Feel free to take as long as you like, but if you are thinking about making more tutorials could you please do some theory about how to find where to chop a song. Like maybe you could take a song you didn't chop up yet and walk us through your process of finding the best places to chop it.

  • @jbkrule Thanks for the comment. I don't have time now to make a video but here is what I would say. The sound wave has ups and downs, "spikes" "hills" valleys" The drums are usually the loudest part and it spikes when they hit. You want to cut right on beat, and that is when the drums fall since they are what keeps beat. So cut right when the spike starts, as the sound wave starts to grow. Hope that wasn't too confusion, no more characters left to type.

  • If anyone wants some free drum loops let me know, I have loads in the link on my video 'How to mix drums in Garageband FREE DRUMS DOWNLOAD' Ryan from AIA

  • u cant copyright drums u can sample drums without problems

  • how did u copy and paste so fast...

  • @ayou1er xD

  • I tried this using the exact same sample you used to make sure I was doing it right but when I drag the kit to a track the bottom portion where it shows the piano roll and score mine says audio region and it displays a wave pattern not the bars that you have. How can I change this? I cant erase the drums in a wave form

  • how do you loop a drum pattern perfectly? cuz i try to trim it but i can never get it to loop perfect.

  • great vid, thanks!

  • @ak47bull3t All sampling will bring up copyright issues.

  • Ok question, I layed down this phat azz drum right, but as per your tutorail when i copy and paste the drum pattern it is off beat....could you please explain to me how to correct this? regards

  • @naturefreedom There is probably a video on youtube showing how to do this I don't have one and it is way to hard to explain right here. I'd say search youtube for a bit, don't just search "hip hop", and you migiht find what you're looking for.

  • THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR THESE LESSONS AND HOW TO VIDEOS REALLY HELPED ME!!!

  • what's the instrumental in the beginning ??

  • @rashaanndbr -Just a random track I made.

  • @michaelromani Oh... It's pretty cool and i would like to know if you've uploaded the complete track yet

  • Thank you for the clear concise instructions on your tutorial videos. Keep up the great work!!

  • how do you get those beats in your list?

  • you look like the thing from the goonies

  • Great video, thanks for posting! Wish I was this far along...LOL

  • you got skills man... I woke up this morning just sad cause I didn't have a sampler... so I googled, "how to sample using garageband" I seen the work ethic on chopping up those tracks... I don't think people understand how much patience and time it takes to do that... I was wondering if I can use my usb keyboard instead of musical typing... Nice beats bro... keep it up

  • Im trying to record while using the musical typing but it keeps chopping and even missing notes while im doing it, is there anyway to fix this??

  • @Degrvs Not sure. Maybe update your ram or something. DOes the same with me.

  • for some reason i cant cut garagebands pre-made loops any advice

  • how do you add the loop bar(yellow bar at the top) i've been trying for months and still can't find it, even searching through "HELP" didn't help... Thanks if you can

  • @bbrraaddp At the bottom where you have the record button, play button, rewind and all of that there is a ""loop" button. It is all the way to the right of these other buttons. It is a picture of two lines with arrows making a continuous circle.

  • every time i make a drum beat with the musical typing keyboard

i next loop it but theres a big pause in the middle of each loop how do i fix tht ? thnxx

  • @bj2much did you ever get the answer to your question because i too am trying to figure this out.

  • very helpful thanks!

  • what is the the yellow bar that is over your loops?

  • @rockavneck14 that is the parameters for the loop. Those bars are looped

  • @michaelromani how do you loop the single track?

  • you need to be producing in the rap game cuz all the beats now are bullshit with no backbone lyrics. seriously. talk to people

  • @blaklabel13 Thanks. I haven't found a rapper that can rap, so I'm not inspired to even enter the "game"

  • @michaelromani where do you stay cuzz im lookin for a producer

  • @michaelromani mind givin me a chance? im not goin to go as far to say as my flow is the tightest grab the world by the nuts n twist stitch out there. but i wont dissapoint you with the lyrics. just check out the page. first song to play should be my most recent :D

  • @PersonelCaliber Send me your email

  • Dude the beat at the beginning is Effing Revolutionary!!!! These are the kinda beats we need in hip hop!!!!

  • once you select a certain section of the loop, how do you cut it?

  • @olds32 delete

  • @olds32 yes hit "delete"

  • good stuff

  • Andre Arlovski? I didnt know you produce!

  • wow

  • thank u so much you are a garageband god

  • I wanted to make an album called "Elia's District" at one time. Name it after this pizza shop I worked at called "Elia's PIzza." Best pizza I've ever had. Thanks for the compliment.

  • I thought I was the master at garageband until I saw this video. thanks for the help.

  • I don't think I'm a master, just a geek with time on his hands.

  • I think it's the first time that I really had to laugh while watching a tutorial! I had to, because you described the apple drum loops so nicely! haha

Thank you, I learned a lot from you! Best GarageBand tutorials on YouTube!

  • I never knew u could do that with musical typin!

  • Make sure the track your dropping them to is an effects track like "radio sounds"

  • can this only be done on the newer garageband? I have the older version (2.0). When I open the software instruments there isn't a sound effects track. Is there anyway for me to do the same things?

  • I read somewhere that these instruments are loaded on the "boot" disc or something. So if you have your Mac CDs that came with the computer you might be able to load these instruments in. I can't say for sure though, it was a long time ago and I think I read it on a random blog.

  • What instrument are you dropping it into? What is the musical typing instrument? Is it a "Sound effect" like applause and laughter? You can only drag and drop into a "Sound Effect" instrument. Check out my first tutorial.

  • is this garage band 2

  • I use garageband 09. But I think earlier versions have this feature.

  • i tried in grage band 08 n it didnt let me put a sample of the song into the musical typing..ne ideas on how to fix that

  • What instrument was the musical typing for? Was it a "sound effect" instrument. Like "Applause Laughter." Check out my first video.

  • sweet thanks... your video was just what I was looking for. One question - when you drag the samples into the musical typing keyboard, can you save it as an instrument so you can use it for future songs without having to chop the song up again?

  • Good questions. I will show something similar to this in the next video. Do this. Cut something up. Put it into your musical typing then save that song as file "x." Whenever you want those sounds just load file "x." Then you can make your track and save as song "y." This way you have song "y" separate from the raw files, song "x."

    Make sense?

  • keep makin these man really good stuff keep up the work!

  • sick beat man love the concept

  • yay im the first person to see this video!!
