Seeing as how the 'power' lines haven't arced I give them credit for isolating the supply as every OIC would have done. You have jumped in with both feet with criticism without knowing the full circumstances. We have a popular saying in the UK - 'best to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.' Neither of us was there to know the full circumstances so lets give them some credit. A ladder loss is nothing compared to loss of life.
who was giving what criticism here? Also, with that last bit about the ladder loss being nothing compared to loss of life, dues this mean you think it was a bad or a good idea to place it against the lines (after all if it wasn't and the ladder was lost, that would not be as bad as losing life)?
Well, that really depends on the circumstances. For a snatch rescue and as long as the wires don't make the ladder unstable then I would accept it. In this case it actually saved the ladder from total loss! As was taught to me as a fledgling Junior Officer - Brigade Orders are for the 'obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.' Something I never forgot.
If you condone placing a ground ladder against overhead wires, you are a fucking idiot and a liability to the fire service, if in fact you are a firefighter at all, which I doubt.
Well that says it all about guys like you. So you're saying that if someone was at an upper window in a timber house needing rescue and the window was obstructed by wires YOU WOULD LET THEM JUMP? What's hells the matter with you? You should be ashamed of yourself.
It's called sarcasm, but there's no shame in saying that your safety and your crew's safety comes first, even above the victims. There's little danger of fatality from hang-dropping from a second story window. It's a better solution than getting me or a crew member killed. Of course I would look for a third way, but between the two it's a no brainer.
I was wrong to call you a fucking idiot, and I apologize. However, placing a ground ladder against power lines has no place in the modern fire service.
Why the F didn't that thing fall straight down like the WTC buildings did?

It's a little shack and also it's called perspective. A close object looks bigger than a farther object.

It's called 'Forced Perspective', but since your account is suspended I guess you'll not reply to this.

Remind me not to wait for you to save my ass in a snatch rescue. I'll take my chances jumping.
Biffo1262 3 years ago
Sorry for the fucking idiot comment, but yes, I think it would be best if you jumped.

You'd better discuss that with the guys in the NYFD then. Enough said?
Biffo1262 3 years ago
I don't know much about FDNY. Only what I've read from Tom Brennan's Random Thoughts.

For a so called Lt/Paramedic you show up your dept with your lack of knowledge and bad language. See my PM to you.
