Hey fellas, I am the owner of this Cobra.. So far, this has been a nightmare.. problem after problem since getting it running in Feburary. But, she show's promise. It made 567/555 on only 17* of timing and 91 octane with both belt slip and spark blowout. Also ran 7.07 at 99.5 in the 1/8 - both at over 5000ft elevation. I hope to have all the issues worked out and new vids soon!
More video is coming soon, I promise. Car was not ready for TX2K11, and we were up till 6:30am thursday morning before leaving trying to fix it. Somehow, the tune is messed up and have been trying to get a re-tune date setup for the car. IIRC (bad memory and no slip), un-tuned the car ran around 7.20's~ in the 8th at about 97mph. Cars a/f is as follows, idle: 121~ - 13.5 Full throttle 10.8~ and below fouling plugs faster than they can be put in at times. Frustrating situation, but will fix.
@dstratus97 because of efficiency. fuel efficiency is the reason for forced induction. i know you can accomplish it na. i guess old school is for old dogs, and new school is for new dogs ;)
why do guys put turbos in the cars or superchargers leave them bone stock. back in the 60s era bone stock raw hp muscle rules. v8 4 on the floor lightweight 426 hemi darts ruled the strip 10 on the quarter bone stock. 68 hemi dart
The 68 Dart you refer to was the GTS. It was NOT a street legal car such as this one and low 13's was a more reasonable time for BONE stock. It didn't take too much to get in to the 10's, but by no means were they bone stock. If you want to ask ignorant questions then ask them. If you're going to make statements then at least get your facts straight.

Just curious, why would you ever, ever, ever need a 2 step on a twin screw blower car? Its totally unnecessary. Turbo cars use it and for good reason, to build boost BEFORE launching. Twin screw blowers make boost instantly, and I wonder how long your belt is gonna last doing that, thats a lot of stress on the belt already but hitting the 2 step like that? I feel bad for that poor belt. (and your water pump for failing from no belt, and then your rods after the pump fails)

@loucks428 Over two years. It was always gradually moded, but it went through tons of abuse, and it only went due to long, LONG highway runs at tx2k10. Didn't do the cooling mod to the heads and it overheated cyl #7
@rpk2012 That's still a lot of abuse. These motors are so impressive from the factory it's ridiculous. I'm not surprised it went, and I'm not surprised it lasted that long.
wats the difference from a 2 step and a transbrake or even a high stall torque converter. can some one let me kno which 1 is better just 4 a everyday driver i have a auto 03 gt with bolt ons not boosted yet thats soon to come.
@jlass7 You can't use 2 step on an automatic car unless you have a really high stall converter. For you I'd say a high stall converter would be better then a transbrake if your using it as a daily mainly because its cheaper and does no damage like a transbrake can. On my Grand Marquis I have 4.10 gears and 3500 stall converter and if you drive it gentle it still drives like its stock no jerking or barking tires at all.
Ok, to answer some of the questions about why to put one on a s/c car.. the whole point is to have more consistent launches at the track. It's hard to tune and make changes when your constantly changing your launch rpm's and throttle percent. This way, I go WOT, and the 2step holds me at the rpm and boost level I need. On a good tire, this works great, but this video was just for fun.

usually they are found on turbo cars to build boost. They do build boost on s/cs too. But they can be put on any vehicle as a form of launch control. To hold certain RPM
manual cars can not make boost from a stop, so the 2 step revs up and the supercharger or turbo goes from vacuum into boost very simple. as for a automatic u just brake boost
They push 7k no problem, but 10 launches on the 2-step at 5,000-6,000 rpm for (hypothetically) 10 seconds each time will wear down the timing chains, and while on a pass, chains break, motor breaks.
Push rod, or modular motor, they all have tolerances.
electronic setup that allows you to set your RPMs at any desired RPM for a more consistant launch (and/or to build boost on starts with a forced indusction car)

2 step wires in between the harness and the coils , and intercepts the signal at a set rpm , cuts power at that rpm , and allows the engine to sit at that rpm to gain boost and have a more consistent launch. next , everyone is into different stuff , and if oyu didnt pay for it, dont knock it , next if that ticks you off , my car would piss you off 91 240sx with 32v 4.5lt dohc Q45 v8 , with a 300zx 5spd , cobra R soiler , wheels , and 2 step. but youd respect it when i fly by you...LOL..noob
You are correct, but one of the awesome features of the 03/04 cobras is that you can program the 2 step in on the factory computer. That is what I have done. No aftermarket boxes or anything, just a flash.
I do not want this car to be lound. I drive it everyday, and I like it somewhat quiet. I had Bassani before the borla, and it sounded amazing, but WAY too loud.. Epsecailly in the cab.

I do race this car at the track... quite often actually. And if you knew ANYTHING about "termys" then you would know that I did not spend one penny on the 2-step. it is a part of the factory ECU that any tuner can unlock. I wouldn't expect you to understand though. You are too worried about the noise the cars make, not how to properly use them.
He does not hit the two step that often, only at the track, and for this video... He has not been to the track yet this year with good enough tires to use it anyways, so it is rarely used.
But, it shouldn't be too bad, turbo drag cars also experience this allot as you might know and the owner of the Cobra is a Ford Mechanic so it wouldn't be too big of an issue.

2 step wires in between the harness and the coils , and intercepts the signal at a set rpm , cuts power at that rpm , and allows the engine to sit at that rpm to gain boost and have a more consistent launch. next , everyone is into different stuff , and if oyu didnt pay for it, dont knock it , next if that ticks you off , my car would piss you off 91 240sx with 32v 4.5lt dohc Q45 v8 , with a 300zx 5spd , cobra R soiler , wheels , and 2 step. but youd respect it when i fly by you...LOL..noob

You are correct, but one of the awesome features of the 03/04 cobras is that you can program the 2 step in on the factory computer. That is what I have done. No aftermarket boxes or anything, just a flash.

I do not want this car to be lound. I drive it everyday, and I like it somewhat quiet. I had Bassani before the borla, and it sounded amazing, but WAY too loud.. Epsecailly in the cab.

im not guna lie i agree with venom on the fact that u rocked out wit kook LT's and a catted x pipe then threw on silencing mufflers - then threw on a 2step

honestly, i do not know.. our track closed down last season and is not said to reopen untin mid year. it did run 11.7 with just a 3" pulley and longtubes.

A two step is designed aswell to be a SOFT limiter in a form and fashion as to not harm things if cared for, and believe you me, it doesn't see the two step that often...
To end things, it seem you started off with exhaust note, went through to something you have no idea of what you were speaking of, and went back to exhaust note at the very end. Seems like your just a Borla hater. Oh well, cannot please everyone.

haha, you are stupid aren't you? For one, driving it every day was too terribly loud to keep the setup that was on the car to begin with, and it had to be hushed up a bit.
Secondly, as it may be a form of rev limiter, you OBVIOUSLY have no concept of two step do you? A two step was DESIGNED to be bounced off of as to build boost for drag purposed off the line.

Yes, I was spinning through the top of third. I hit 4th just as I passed the camera.
The 2-step is flashed into the pcm. Not really a program, just a flash.

I do race this car at the track... quite often actually. And if you knew ANYTHING about "termys" then you would know that I did not spend one penny on the 2-step. it is a part of the factory ECU that any tuner can unlock. I wouldn't expect you to understand though. You are too worried about the noise the cars make, not how to properly use them.

He does not hit the two step that often, only at the track, and for this video... He has not been to the track yet this year with good enough tires to use it anyways, so it is rarely used.
But, it shouldn't be too bad, turbo drag cars also experience this allot as you might know and the owner of the Cobra is a Ford Mechanic so it wouldn't be too big of an issue.
