This song brings back so many wonderful memories and is yet another true testament to Maurice White's Genius. There are not too many creative forces left in music like him and I was blessed to grow up with this one.
This is my musical hero. Saw the David Foster (great producer) Special on PBS yesterday. He paid this man the ultimate compliment going on about how Maurice was the single greatest influence on his career. It was sad and touching because Foster had to go to Maurice's seat in the audience to embrace him while EWF was up on stage. He is tremendously frail now.

when you compare music like this to todays trash 'music' ( lady gaga, lil wayne, rick ross, katy perry,ect) it makes you VERY grateful that we have timeless beautiful audio art like this to listen to i cant even ONE song from 1997 to today, that cals itself a ballad, that can hold a candle to a masterpiece like this awesome tune.

Yes, this is Maurice White, one of the most powerful voices of soul ever. I use to listed to EWF a lot as a child and now. I have to agree with the comments below, there was nothing or no one that could top the sound and range this man had. I was so saddened by the news that he was stricken with MS. His performances on stage were epic.

Great album by a phenomenal artist!! I was reading up on him and I found that he actually suffers from Parkinsons Disease which started progressing in the late 80's. He is up there in age too...he was born in 1941...article says he still does some studio sessions with EWF....Now I am going to have to look for that CD of his so I can buy it...lol...all I had was the cassette...and it did not hold up after continuous play...lol

You're absolutely right about the fact that there was no EW&F on this production. It was his solo cd self-titled, "Maurice White". This track is (IMO), the best song on the whole cd.
This video is so stylish and sophisticated. Amazingly enough, besides the fashion and hairstyle, the video had dated little. It didn't need a lot of advance technology and it effectively used the black/white shots with the color, yet its still feels modern compared with other 80s videos.
Maurice oozes pure romance and soulful passion in this song.
But honestly, this song did not ever get the praise and recognition it should have gotten. (What a nice treat to find it here on YouTube!)
Maurice's voice resonates what true love should really feel like; this is truly apparent when he sings that long note (right after he sings "living alone") towards the end of the song.

It's hard to believe that this song only went to #95 on the Billboard Top 100 charts. The combination of the soft music and Maurice White's voice and lyrics are definite memory provokers.
Although the vid says Earth Wind and Fire it's actually from his 1985 solo album which is great. And it's really nice to see this video has had so many veiws as the album didn't do that well but is now getting the recognition it deserves.
They just don't make music like this anymore. This reminds me of the days when love was something you could touch, when women were portrayed as flowers to be cherished. Look how beautiful and sensuous these women are and they are not naked or wearing revealing costumes...I miss those days.

This is a powerful song. I first heard in my college days back at N.C A&T State in Greensboro, NC. My best boy was 'obsessed' with Earth, Wind, & Fire(EWF). Yes, EWF are VERY good, BUT this song from Maurice White touched my life, in that I missed going after my first love.... thankfully, I got meet, lead to The Lord Jesus, and married her... we celebrated 18 years, with four(4)daughter, and ministry of the gospel of Christ, on December 22 this year.... God Get The Glory!!!

He has his good days and his bad I met him in South Korea 1990 or 91 during a USO ATT sponsored tour.

Maurice oozes pure romance and soulful passion in this song.
But honestly, this song did not ever get the praise and recognition it should have gotten. (What a nice treat to find it here on YouTube!)
Maurice's voice resonates what true love should really feel like; this is truly apparent when he sings that long note (right after he sings "living alone") towards the end of the song.
Maurice's performance of this song is awesome.

This song really gets me right in my heart everytime I hear it. Maurice White, the musical genius he is, pours his heart and soul out with every lyric.

It's hard to believe that this song only went to #95 on the Billboard Top 100 charts. The combination of the soft music and Maurice White's voice and lyrics are definite memory provokers.

Although the vid says Earth Wind and Fire it's actually from his 1985 solo album which is great. And it's really nice to see this video has had so many veiws as the album didn't do that well but is now getting the recognition it deserves.

They just don't make music like this anymore. This reminds me of the days when love was something you could touch, when women were portrayed as flowers to be cherished. Look how beautiful and sensuous these women are and they are not naked or wearing revealing costumes...I miss those days.

There are songs that move me and there are songs that make me cry,this song goes beyond any emotion or fulfillment I feel when I listen to it,the way Maurice sings this song is just beautiful yet it has a sadness to it,the lyrics are mesmerising and his voice is like an angel sent to stimulate and intensify every fibre of my being ( and Im a man!!!!!!!....go figure)......it makes me think of the loss Ive had in my life.....yet makes me happy with everything I have......SIMPLY THE BEST

This is a powerful song. I first heard in my college days back at N.C A&T State in Greensboro, NC. My best boy was 'obsessed' with Earth, Wind, & Fire(EWF). Yes, EWF are VERY good, BUT this song from Maurice White touched my life, in that I missed going after my first love.... thankfully, I got meet, lead to The Lord Jesus, and married her... we celebrated 18 years, with four(4)daughter, and ministry of the gospel of Christ, on December 22 this year.... God Get The Glory!!!
