  • Jimmy Clanton was an excellent singer who, with major label support, would have enjoyed an even bigger career.

  • Ruth Lewis did a fine version on RCA Victor in 1966.

  • Nice version but not as good as the Carpenters (the best) or Ruby and the Romantics

  • The Carpenters version is the only one I've heard before, and this one's far better. Thanks for posting.

  • Holy Buckets! Wouldn't this have been a killer song for the Righteous Brothers to have recorded! I really like what Clanton does with this as well. Thansk for posting.

  • @dpohunter

Righteous Brothers would have been awesome on it. I think Clanton's R&B voice works great on it, though he doesn't seem completely comfortable with the huge, Spector-meets-Bacharach production.

  • @dogkelp Try the Walkers brothers version, it knocks spots of everyone else's , even Andy Williams's !!!

  • Never heard this ond before, only know

the Walker Brothers version. Nice ...Thanks.

  • @BarneyUSMC The Walkers did the best version by Far : )
