Righteous Brothers would have been awesome on it. I think Clanton's R&B voice works great on it, though he doesn't seem completely comfortable with the huge, Spector-meets-Bacharach production.
Jimmy Clanton was an excellent singer who, with major label support, would have enjoyed an even bigger career.

Nice version but not as good as the Carpenters (the best) or Ruby and the Romantics
