@indystarwarsfan585 Hey there, unfortunately I don't have a video camera anymore, but try doing a google search or Youtube search for Happy tutorials? good luck!
Thanks for an interesting lesson. I'm going to look for a slide. One of my favourite tunes is Powis Square by Ry Cooder. Your samples remind me of that great tune. Looking forward to learning from you.
Hey - My answer to you is Yes. I prefer old traditional glass bottleneck slides. I like the tone. Again, as I mentioned in the first video, it can depend on the Glass thickness as to what tone your gonna get... but hell ya, they are useful.. go forth and play. Cheers, Dan
Thank you for your opinion about it. ive been playing it for the past few days, and im really liking it. its got a nice thickness to it, but its not very sound. i have a nice pedal for my guitar that adds a few nice sounds to go along with the nice sound of the slide. so i got a good thing going on now.
i actually do have some work up at the moment. nothing with a slide. but i have some mediocre music up. nothing special nothing great. mabye you could check it out
Hi - It's all about the tone. I have found wood bodied resonator guitars to have a quieter, softer tone. The metal bodied, bell brass, chrome coated etc resonators seem to me to have more punch and projection. It's all personal preference .
I just ordered my first slide! I ordered a porcelain 'BigHeart Resonator'. I can't wait for it to show up so I can try it out.! Cheers mate from Texas!
how about the big heart robert johnson bronze slide or the the good ol' snapon long reach socket(3/8 drive)or my personal fav a blue matuse bottle neck(hard to get)
Heya BP, thanks for that.. Means a lot coming from a respected player like yourself.
The Blue Matuse bottleneck, one of Bob Brozman's fav's I've heard... And yeh the Big Heart is one BIG mutha of a slide, I'd love to get my hands on something like that, nothing like a heavy brass slide. As for the snapon LOL I'll trust you on that one :)
Great lesson - makes me want to give it a go. Must go out and buy a thngy. The mud slide sounds yummy. Slide guitar is very sexy. Thanks for sharing you knowledge. Looking forward to the next lesson. sandra
Hi There. You haven't told anything about the how the guitar should be tuned. Regular or open chord. Alex from Brazil.

I'm glad I could help :). Are you a beginner learning slide guitar? Or guitar in general?
Thanks, Dan

I'm playing the "normal" guitar for about 2years now. but I'm totally new to slide guitar playing...I don't even got a guitar.

i just went up to my nearest guitar center and bought a glass slide. so my question to you is do you think that the glass slides are useful?

What's the difference between the brass body resonators and the wood body kind?
Also, what would a brass nut do to the sound of a resonator?

i have joe perry's boneyard slide. i dont know how makes it but its a nice porcelain slide
wimpy77 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure the Joe Perry are hand made like the Jim Dunlop Mudlsides.. nothing quite like the smooth tone of porcelain.
