@melbguy34 Hey buddy relax don't eat me. What I said and still stand by it is that Blugrass Cat got caught real wide that FIRST turn that he easily lost 7 to 8 lenghts there. Jazil came just a tad wider than him on the final stretch but saved ground before that throughout the race.
They retired him in early 2007. I loved this horse too!! Picked him every time he ran. He ran 12th in the Elkhorn at Keeneland and I believe that was his last run.
@Stamolka1986 barbaro only ran as fast as he had to cruising just off the leaders... barbaro was a special horse..and would have had plenty in the tank to make it a race

Finally I found Rags to Riches half brother! Two belmont winners, not bad for Better Than Hounor. A good horse.

BlueGrass Cat lost a lot of ground by getting caught so wide that first turn that it costed him the win.

@cabalogia
Yeah, and Jazil was even wider outside BlueGrass Cat.. so your point is a moot one... Jazil covered wider ground, and still won.

@cabalogia Belmont's turns are very sweeping. Wide isn't faal there.

I just remember his run in the wood memorial or some derby prep where he flew in for second against bob and john. Knew he had something special

I knew he would win the Belmont with his late kick/running speed. What an amazing racehorse!
If Barbaro and Bernadini would've ran against him in the Belmont, I beat you Jazil would've still beat them with his late running speed.
What happened to Jazil?

@gregg008 Bernardini was just as fast as Barboro, if not faster.
Barbaro was fragile. That's why he couldn't run too often. Three races in five weeks would have been a lot to ask of him.
